i get this weird message just before shutdown:-the instruction at 0x01604617 referenced memory at 000000007, the memory could not be written. i have ran a disk check and it has come up clean. any ideas? someone said it might be malware? what is malware, and how do you scan for it?
View 19 RepliesMy lap top (IBM think pad 600E) running windows 2000 professional has suddenly slowed down completely "when opening from switching on and when opening "all" new programs inc. Int Explorer, Outlook Express, windows, Skype etc. However - once a program finally opens it generaly works at full speed!!!I also get from time to time the message - (The memory could not be written. )In addition the Disc clean up program will not "clean up" - it just hangs there after starting for ever.Looked for a virus through AVG, and defragged, also took out programs not used often etc. Installed anti "Spy Bot" - which found 6 "bad" products - but won't / can't remove them.

The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate Click Cancel to debug.I tried BOTH Cancel and then OK with no results.When I clicked OK the programs would eventually come up, but I've found my application SCREEN SHOT DELUXE won't come up don't know if that is related or not.Also, had a little problem with Word Perfect on one boot, don't know EXACTLY what or IF these would be affected by this problem.I have a Dell 8250, Windows XP Pro, 512 RAM, 120 gig hard drive, 2.5 GHz.

The instruction at "0x009a6f9a" referenced memory at "0x00000000" could not be written. The moment I noticed this issue was after an install of my Printer/Fax/scanner by HP, It is a wireless printer so the firewall asked if it should unblock for the install process. My question is should I try to go back to a restore point before that install or is there a workaround for this error.

A while back while using my computer a blue screen popped up saying that windows encountered an error and that it would shut down to prevent damage. When that happened I simply restarted my computer and everything was fine. This happened one or two times later and everything was fine. Today it happened again and when I went to restart it it the blue screen popped up immediately after that. On the third time I went to restart it the computer just said boot failure and did nothing. Every time I try to restart it does the same thing. It will let me press f2 for the start up settings but when I press f8 for safe mode it does nothing.

I have run avast, adaware, spybot, all come up clean.Sometimes pc is unable to recover and will keep coming back to screen for selecting safe mode etc.Tried to run registry cleaner I saw on your home page. But once downloaded and tried to run this, PC crashed again. Even now I am usure how long I will get on this site before something goes down.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I reboot my computer I get the error message Disk Boot Failure, insert system disk and press enter. I do that and go to the recovery console. I have tried doing FIXMBR and/or FIXBOOT, which will get me into Windows, but the next time I reboot or turn off/on my computer I get the same message and have to go through the same steps to make it work. I'm not really sure what is causing the error message, and I dont know what to try to get the computer to boot up properly.

I have never been able to figure this out, but every time I shut down or restart my computer I get a ccapp "End Program" message. It stays up for about 5 seconds before self terminating. Does anybody know what this is or how to solve this problem? I tried a search and the only thing I found out is that ccapp may be associated with Norton Anti-Virus. Which I have, lastest verision. But this problem has occured with earlier versions too.

I have Microsoft Windows 2000 and the following settings: total paging file size 205 MB; minimum 2 MB; Recommended 190 MB; Currently allocated 205 MB; current registry size 21 I'm not the system administrator so I can't change these numbers. I also couldn't find the pagefile.sys that someone suggested looking for. My IT guys don't know what's wrong; they reformatted my computer but I got this error message again. What should I tell them to do?

I'm continually getting 'low virtual memory' messages which either result in th explorer page shutting down or with applicatons being unable to run (including games). I've tried adjusting the settings under 'system properties' but when I re-boot and re-check this it always reverts to zero. I'm following the correct procss in hitting 'apply', etc but this problem continues to appear. There is also a 'paging' error where apparently there's a problem with the paging file configuration when i start the computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem for a while now, everytime I turn on my computer I have to wait for 15 minutes or so because my virtual memory is "low" and that windows is trying to increase it. After that, everything runs smoothly but restarting is a hassle because I have to repeat the process of waiting and it's frustrating especially when I'm doing homework. Until recently when I checked my task manager and saw oleutil.exe eating up my memory. Then I tried to end it while I was in the middle of waiting and my PF Usage suddenly dropped and everything's normal again but my CPU Usage skyrocket to 100% all of sudden but other than that everything's normal.

this program needs at least 3MB Virtual Memory to run. I've checked the virtual memory settings and they are at 1523 MB, I had an older computer (With XP) that I ran AutoCAD on before with no problem, so I know it's not the program.
My computer is always coming up with a message that says 'windows virtual memory is low' and yet I dont even run that many programs. granted my computer is old and I should probably buy more memory for it - though i can't afford it - but is there a program or process i should run for my computer to make the most of the memory it has and therefore run more smoothly, and therefore not flash the message 'low on virtual memory' up at me all the time?

Nothing that is eating up all this memory. My machine "freezes" there and I'm in a loop.all I can do is reboot and get to the same place. Is there a way I can get to a command prompt and cancel my directive.
