Internet Explorer And Control Panel Won't Open
Sep 1, 2005I am not able to log on to IE or my control panel. It just started doing this yesterday. I don't know where my Norton antivirus software went. It is also missing now. The system is very sluggish.

Feb 3, 2005My favorite folder view setting in XP is "Details". After trying out some tweak apps, Windows Explorer shows every folder I open in "Icon View". I change it back to Details but later it reverts to Icons.
I know there's a simple way to:
1. globally change all folder views to Details...and
2. Preserve the setting.

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

Apr 3, 2008My internet options icon has gone missing in control panel when I click on it in tools in internet explorer nothing happens. I have tried a few spyware scans nothing significant found, also one system restore to the previouse day internet options did not appear. Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. Internet Explorer - Change All Of My Internet Shortcuts
Apr 17, 2005A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should
