When I want to access the internet I click the "E" symbol on my desktop,
the problem that I get is that I keep getting a getting that pops up in stead of going directly to the MSN page.I keep getting ( Privacy violation 408HTA Warning ) getting that keeps opening up and I can't get it off my computer It is an advertisement to buy some sort of spyware software.

I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.

I'm thinking maybe the user's profile has problem.However, after deleting the user's profile and have her logged in to create a new profile, it still would not work.
How come it works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer?
My son in law's XP computer connects to internet with IE only. It will not allow site signons or logins. It will not update anti virus (free AVG) or connect with Firefox or Netscape. The firewall is not blocking. I checked all admin service permissions and can't find any problems. I also tried Winsock Fix. I'm stumped on this and don't know what to do next

View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should

Also, after shutting down the AOL, Windows XP would shut down the parental control program saying that it was malfunctioning. I restarted my computer and came up with a Windows Installer problem that I couldn't clear with Windows Installer cleanup or an upgrade to Windows Installer 4.5 (?). I could access the Internet, but not my email on Outlook 3.I decided to do a full reload of Windows XP Pro on the laptop. View 1 Replies View Relatedmy problem is this, i switched on one of my home pc,s today and after briefly connecting to the internet it seemed to freeze/crash so i switched off & on again and no matter what i try which includes running the network setup wizard i keep on getting the same result, an error box(microsoft visual c++ runtime library) stating that a buffer overun has been detected which has corrupted the pc,s internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must be terminated. I have no idea what caused this as this is the first time ive seen this error.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis has happened on two computers: my wife's and my parents'. Automatic updating is turned on. My wife's computer suddenly lost Internet service upon reboot. I checked everything. She had access to the Linksys router, the network properties showed she was connected to the Internet and, most importantly, I, on another computer, was connected (my auto updates was turned off). I fixed the problem by going to the Device Manager, uninstalling the network card and then scanning for hardware changes. Bing! Working again.Two days later I'm at my parents' house. I turned on their computer, updates were installed and the system restarted. Again, no Internet service despite all apparent "go" connections. Uninstalled the network card, rebooted and it worked again.
I keep my updates off because NetFramework 2 wreaks havoc with a library program I have, so no NetFramework at all. And I've had no problems. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems? My wife had spent more than an hour on the phone with a tech support guy at Linksys and he had her setting up her notebook computer and changing its settings. When I got home, she was right in the middle of working with a computer that wasn't the problem. I guess this guy was paid by the hour because he was in no hurry to wrap everything up. But he told my wife that he works for several companies in tech support (real surprise there) and that MS "updates" create numerous "issues" I think they call them now.
My pc is so slow that it takes ages to play a song in wmp11. Ive used tools like ad-aware and registry mechanic, tune up utilities. But still no improvement. It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash.
