Speed fan registers one of my SataII drives at 52-54degrees!My other two WD 320gb drives all register at 30-32degress. This is not where my OS is located.
Whats wring here? WDC WD2500JS-19NCB1 Drive is less than a year old. getting Warning: Unknown attribute 190 is below the average limits (63-100).
I cannot change any folders read only attribute. I looked up on msdn and followed the workaround(change the registry then from the command prompt change the folders read only property) but still no good. How can i resolve this?.

I usually have around 44 running and this seems excessive. I would love to know what a minimum number of processes is to run Windows XP. If you have an idea, please let me know.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe built in NIC card stopped working so i recently installed a new one, and when i went into Msconfig to shutdown some programs it said "i did not have administrative right/priviliges" so the changes that i made did not take effect. My computer is Running windows xp home edition. It is a pentium4 2.93 w/ a front side bus of 533. It is also an HP compaq computer. I reformated the computer and reinstalled XP using the hp recovery prompt when you first startup the computer. Then i ran the windows updates and service packs on it and installed norton and adaware. Now after doing all of this stuff i am no longer able to make changes through "msconfig" I checked the administrator account and it said that i was indeed the administrator with no limits, yet i could not make any changes.

In the past few months when I connect the firelite to my computer, I get a message that states �the USB mass Storage Device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port.At that moment, the only option is to unplug the device and reset the port.I have 4 high speed USB ports and I�ve tried it on all of them with the same results.
I want to restrict access time of one of the limited users on the home computer running Windows XP. Can I do this as administrator? I saw some instructions posted earlier but I don't know if they were for Windows XP.

I can open page on one computer and not the other. I've gone into Tools, IE, etc. etc, unchecking anything to do with ActiveX, but nothing is working.I am trying to open a virtual tour of a hotel. I've disabled pop ups. I can't download ActiveX. Everytime the ActiveX bar comes up, the Windows blocked software message comes appears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get a directcd warning telling me that it will cause windows to be come unstable and also gives me a link to roxio systems "within a bubble" that comes up every time I boot the system. I tried to look in my setup folder or any where else I thought it could be by doing a scan but no good. it's just annoying, it's got to be comming from some where? it turns out that to make the warning disapear I'd have to purchase the particular roxio softwear and it's not really what I want to do. any suggestions as to where to look?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer boots up and runs fine for several minutes to a few hours then all of a sudden the monitor screen goes black and (if it is on the screen) the mouse pointer gets big. I have to reboot and then sometimes it will work fine for as long as I am using it. Sometimes it does the same things several hours later or several minutes later. In other words I have not been able to establish a pattern for when it happens. Anybody have any ideas what may be going on? I use Windows 2000 Pro, Amd processor(sempron), 512 Megs of RAM, Computer motherboard about a year old.I got windows 2000 installed because I could not get XP registered with MS after old MB died. I kinda like Win 2K better anyway.I have cleaned out my case and tried to make sure processor is not overheating.Just am stumped as to what may be the problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been getting a pop up online its from something called winfixer, I have tried getting rid of it by downloading a free pop up stopper but it has'ent done the job, so I decided to run this winfixer thing and see if I could get rid of it from there, I got a message on screen from google saying that this thing was trying to steal my personal and finacial details and gave me an option to get out of there or ignore and carry on well you know what I chose. Its still there though everytime I go on line how can I get rid of it.

So I turned it off and when I tried to boot it wouldn't. I have some ideas as to what the problem can be:1. Its overheating.2. The CPU is fried.3. On Start Up, there is not a lot of extra programs running in the background, and most of the time, my system runs fast. (I use MS Config.) Today, however in my System Tray, I got a Low Virtual Memory Warning Message. What does this mean? I use IE 8 most of the time and occasionally Firefox 3.5.The other thing that I noticed is that from time to time when I right-click on the desktop, I will get a momentary fade-out before the options come into view on the screen. View 14 Replies View Relatedmy computer just out of the blue will turn off, almost as if all power is cut off to the computer, it doesnt safely shut down it blacks out and cuts off BOOM, off. once it turns off, if i try and turn it on again, it will power up for about 3 seconds before it turns off again...? if i wait a little longer, it powers up for longer before it turns off again until if i wait about 10 minutes it will fully power up until the next time it will randomly turn off without warning, any signs or notice.

I booted up my computer and left it running for a while I noticed I got a Low virtual memory warning. So I opened up task manger and saw the my PF usage was extremely high (around 1.5 GB) and I didn't have anything open or running. Then I restarted it and had the same problem later. After a while some times it will render the computer useless as I can't get anything to run as its so slow. Even as I'm typing this message my PF usage is slowly increasing. I also notice that my "Handles" are slowly increasing too. All that I've done to the computer recently is install a Dynex Wireless G USB adapter. I dont think it's the cause of the problem because when I take the USB adpater out the computer and leave it running.

The fix is to spend $149 to get a genuine copy. In the meantime I have 2 warnings that come up every time I turn on my computer: "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting."

It says something about it being from an unknown publisher and am I sure I want to open it. It's really annoying... I've been using these programs for yrs. Can't it at least remember my answer when I say yes and not ask every time I open them? It only does this when it is first switched on for the day and usually within a couple of minutes of starting up, then upon reboot it will last a similar sort of time before shutting down again.
