Get Rid Of Those Security Warning Prompts
Jun 23, 2005Is there a way to get rid of those security warning prompts when I'm tring to install programs? I've disabled everything in the security center but that didn't help.

Disable The Windows Service That Prompts The Security Warnings
Jan 29, 2010How can I disable the windows service that prompts me when an executable file is from any unknown publisher? The attached image is a screen shot of the security warning. I don't care about any of the associated risks with disabling this, I've already disabled the windows firewall and security center, I just find this pop-up quite aggravating and would like to know how to make it stop

Apr 29, 2008I am getting this message: Windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify publisher. I have 2 computers set exactly the same. I can open page on one computer and not the other. I've gone into Tools, IE, etc. etc, unchecking anything to do with ActiveX, but nothing is working.I am trying to open a virtual tour of a hotel. I've disabled pop ups. I can't download ActiveX. Everytime the ActiveX bar comes up, the Windows blocked software message comes appears.

Get Security Warning Msg When Open Most Programs
May 1, 2008For the last few weeks, I get a security warning msg when I open certain programs. It says something about it being from an unknown publisher and am I sure I want to open it. It's really annoying... I've been using these programs for yrs. Can't it at least remember my answer when I say yes and not ask every time I open them? Anyway, this has only started happening recently, so I'm sure it's the result of some setting that has been changed by a Windows update. I looked in the Control Panel under Security Center, but that only seems to deal w/ internet security. So how can I turn this off?

Apr 18, 2005this is not a BSOD because the message is only my backgroud, my computer functions fine despite it. I ran a whole slew of antivirus stuff and killed off a bunch of nasty buggers, but the message didn't go away.I went to Display Properties and there were only two tabs, Screen Savers, and Settings. It was missing the Appearance, Themes, and Desktop tabs. So I went on here and found something about changing the registry files from 1 to 0 in a couple places. Well I got the tabs back, but I still cannot change my desktop background. It's all greyed out. My computer is functioning fine now and is armed to the teeth against new stuff, but it still has that annoying BSOD look-a-like.

Dec 7, 2008I was clicking around, trying to reduce the security setting in Windows in order to download a needed .exe file. Can't remember what I did but now a dialogue box opens for every .exe file I try to use. This brought to my attention the regsvr32.exe file that looks like its not supposed to be in the system32 folder and could be malware. issues: turning off the dialogue box that opens everytime i open a program and identifying and deleting malware especially the regsvr32.exe.I notice the regsvr32 isn't listed as a running process in the HJT log - because I cancelled it in the dialogue box instead of allowing it to run. Which is a good thing. I'd like to return to normal and disable the open file dialoge box, but remove regsvr32 first so it doesn't run automatically.

Mar 16, 2006I am running xp on my home 'puter (sony vaio a-290) & an unable to use the cmd prompt.I can open the cmd prompt now ( it used to flash & then disappear not so long ago) but am unable to type anything in it. If I then cancel the installation, the desired window opens up and I can navigate up and down as normally - it only happens on the initial double-click to open the folder. The only thing I've been doing recently that might have changed settings and prompted this was in attempting (without success) to set up a home network. Sep 1, 2006I recently purshased a new pc.i got outlook express up and running ok and was recieving e mail no problem.i downloaded a free AVG anti-virius from computeractive`s web page along with the mcafree one that came with the pc.whats happeneing is that whenever i send and recieve a pop up appears at the bottom of the screen saying "e mail scanner" and the system prompts me for a password.if i click ok its prompts me again and if i click cancel it says "password was rejecteed" i did read somwhere that some anti virius software can cause a firewall that prevents you recieving mail.maybe its somthing really simple im just overlooking.
Sharing And Security Settings Not Showing Security
Jun 23, 2005I've forgotten but in a new install of XP-Pro,SP2 using NTFS on C: I don't have the Security Tab when I right click on a folder to setup sharing. I want this so I can set Permissions, etc. I have it on my other PC set up the same way but for some reason I don't on this new install.
What am I doing wrong? My username is a member of the Andministrators group.
Getting Security Warnings That My Security Settings Has Blocked?
Feb 13, 2009I haven't been to this site for a while and I noticed I'm getting Security Warnings that my security settings has blocked of an ActiveX install. I know how to change those settings, but am reluctant to do so. Can anyone shed some light on this. I occasionally will get similar warnings on other sites, but it is consistant on this one. Once in a while IE6 will hang up on this and I'll have to got to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get out of it.
