View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to copy files to a DVD+RW it puts them into some kind of temporary files and then tells me it's ready to copy them to the CD. But it won't let me copy them to a DVD, seems to be looking for a CD. Why must I wait for these temporary files to be created. I was once able to start the copying and it would copy them with no delay. Is there some way to bypass this creation of temporary files and just begin the copying immediately?
View 5 Replies View Related my comp is very screwy lately. if i right click a folder and copy
it, or just right click it, its fine. but if i try to paste or right
click once again the whole explorer will crash leaving no icons on my
desktop. then it will reload everything back up.
I know some images you can't copy and paste, but I use to go to free clip art sites and would be able to copy and paste into Word for kids school projects. Now I can't and I have not been able to for a while now. I think it is an Internet Explorer problem, but I could be wrong. I just recently installed Service Pack 2 for Internet Explorer and still does not work. I am able to copy and paste text, but not images.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was told by Comcast that The Fan (a feature) was freezing because I needed to reinstall IE 6 I have no other probs with freezing anywhere, my Java is ok. I thought I may have had a repair utility in Add/Remove programs but IE is not EVEN listed in there NOR OE. I am beside myself I never did this before, I have reformatted but never fooled around with IE.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just repaired the wwwcoolsearch adrware infestation I just had. Now, after restart, Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are not working. I can access and view all of my other programs via TaskManager, but Windows XP programs are not working (Control Panel, Run...., Windows Explorer). Are there any tools I can use to fix my XP Explorer issues? I dare note Restore, because I haven't created a restore point for weeks due to history of fighting viruses that have lingered in the Restores of old.
View 16 Replies View Relatedevery so often on my friend's computer explorer.exe just stops working and the cpu goes up to 100% and everything takes for ever. the only way we have gotten it to quit is to restart the computer, but then it comes back later. does anyone have any ideas or solutions to the problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi everyone, newbie to this site. A co-worker of mine said she was having big problems with her computer over the last few days. She said its very slow and suddenly it won't connect to the internet (comcast broadband). Had her bring it in to me so I could take a look. Oh boy. Its running XP and found that it boots extremely slow. Once booted it slows down even further. So much so that I could barely get the computer to respond when clicking on the start menu. Fairly confident it is infected with a WORM. Tried connecting to the internet which did not work either.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently had a virus on my computer and had a friend attempt to fix it. my computer gradually got worse and now the internet does not work at all. (internet explorer cannot display the webpage error message for all websites). i was going to reinstall windows xp but cannot find the disk. is there any way to fix my internet without being able to actually use the internet on my computer? also, while pricing new windows operating system disks i noticed there is an upgrade version and a regular version which cost about twice as much. can i just purchase the upgrade version or do i need the full version?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have tested it on more then 5 computers with Windows XP Professional on it, with different applications on it. I got every time the same result. What I do: I select 2 or more files in the explorer by holding the CTRL or shift key. These files are all from the same type. Then do a right mouse click and select "Open With" What I get: I get at first for the first selected file a folder selection window with the headline MOVE. I cancel this action, then I get a 2nd folder selection window now with the headline COPY. I cancel this window again. Then I get the Program Selection Window I expect. I select for example Paint Shop Pro. Any other program has the same outcome. The program will start like expected. But now I must handle this procedure for any file I have previous selected inside the explorer. And the program will start again and
again.
I click the green 'play all arrow' on the left of windows explorer when I'm in a music folder, it doesnt do anything.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a computer running windows xp and have not really had any problems until this morning, when i started the computer a message came up saying "windows explorer has stopped working.windows is collecting more information about the problem this might take several minutes" followed shortly by "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".i can't access anything as the screen is completely black apart from the mouse cursor which i'm able to move, but theres nothing on-screen.does anyone know if theres a way to fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open Internet explorer, it tells me that iexplore.exe is missing,so basicly IE can not be opened.I tried to run it through start-> run , but he says that he can't find the file (C:Program filesInternet exploreriexplore.exe) I do have a internet explorer folder in program files, but i'm unable to open it.Normally, when you click on "Start", "internet explorer" is standing there too. Somehow I can't see it there.
When I click on the Internet Explorer shortcut, it opens a screen saying: Choose the program that you want to open this file with (Note: This will probably won't be the correct translation as it's a dutch computer). In this screen you can search for IE. By this i know for sure that it is iexplore.exe that is missing. When i do Ctrl-Alt-Delete , I can't see iexplore.exe running .
when I boot up I just get a blank screen. The Start menu has disappeared and all the icons on my desktop have gone away as well as the taskbar and the clock at the bottom of the screen. How do I get them back? I'm using XP and just downloaded the latest updates (six of which didn't work). Not sure if the latter had anything to do with it. I've tried starting explorer using ctrl-alt-delete then running explorer, but it still doesn't work as normal. A reboot doesn't work either.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy explorer.exe stopped working. I'm not sure if I got infected with some virus or what, but I tried many antivirus scans, offline and online based, and also did malware scans with adaware/spybot/spyware doctor. Nothing was found that could fix it. So, after spending many hours on it, I gave up on fixing it that way. My computer was still working, except for some things I couldn't do:
- no system restore - if I open the program an empty screen would show
- since my explorer shell disappeared I had to get this program to browse through my files....
I just downloaded Explorer 7 I think it is. Problem I'm having is when I hit my back button or "backspace," explorer doesn't always respond. Why is this?
It gets really annoying because in some instances I will have to hit the back button several times for the previous page to load
Ive been having problems with a virus lately. So i decided to purchase McAfee. Instead of going out and buying it, I bought it online where you can download it. But after restarting, the explorer.exe wont start up. And when i manually try to start it up, My Documents folder comes up.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy pc is so slow that it takes ages to play a song in wmp11. Ive used tools like ad-aware and registry mechanic, tune up utilities. But still no improvement. It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.
