Expand Any Particular File
Aug 15, 2007While operating Windows Explorer, if I expand any particular file, and click on the folder within, Explorer just shuts down. Can anyone please assist me in curing this problem?

Expand System Tray
Feb 6, 2007I would like to see all of the icons in the system tray. Right now there are 8 icons showing with 2 little arrows indicating that there are more icons to see if I position the cursor over the arrows. Is there a way to make all of the icons be seen?

Feb 5, 2005I just got my Service Pack 2 and tried to install it, but don't have enough free space on my C partition (FAT32 File System type). I have 15.97GB allocated to this partition, but only 698MB is free. Somehow, I have a D: partition that has 39.89GB of which ALL of it is free! So, is there a way, withoutlosing my data and operating system, that I can increase the size of the C: partition and decrease the size of D: partition?
Explorer Left Pane Did Not Expand?
Apr 20, 2008I clicked on Windows Explorer and it opened but the left pane did not expand and there was not even a + sign if front of the C: drive to expand it. My shortcut path to Explorer is and has been: %SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n,/e,C: and I have it open maximized. It was working just fine about supper time and then I went to do other things and when I came back I had the problem. I have not installed any software nor made any system changes.

Sep 12, 2005I'm currently ruing Win XP Pro on my PC. When I installed the system, I only allocated 20GB for the system partition. As time goes and installation appls, the system drive disk space only has 15% disk space left. I have another 10GB partition (d: drive) which has become available but it resides on a separate physical hard disk.The only option that I can think of is to uninstall the appls and reinstall it on this spare drive to free up disk space on system drive. It involves quite bit of work which I do not wish to do if and only if this is the only solution.Can I expand the system drive to include this "D:" as part of the system drive(single logical partition).

Apr 28, 2007how to expand the disk space that I have. The primary C drive has the OS on it and it is only about 14GB, and my entire disk is about 50GB, the unallocated space is about 34 GB. I have tried to expand the primary partition unsuccessfully. Do I have to reload the entire OS ? I do not have the origional disk to reload the OS. It is a sony PCG-CRT160 computer with 500 mb ram and approximately a 50 GB primary drive that was partitioned when I got it.

May 29, 2006I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:

The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. File Opens With Wrong Program - Bad File Icon In Explorer View
Aug 3, 2007I recently had to do a system restore and now my .jpg and jpeg files have a bad file icon. They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago

Mar 20, 2007I read the advice to start in safe mode to delete files that gave the errror message cannot delet file - source file not found. They wouldn't delete in Safe Mode either. I am trying to delete mp3 from my c drive because I have an external disk where I have my music library. I can delete them one at a time without getting the error message but not a bunch of them. When I right click a par2 & select "open with", it defaults to the wrong program, and the correct one (Quick Par) is not listed. When I try using the browse option from this point, it ignores my selection of Quick Par's .exe. When I go to WE/tools/folder options file types, I get the same dialogues with the same result. When I try to delete the par2 association from here, hoping to reset it the file to the right priogram, the delete button is dimmed. If I open Quick par & select the file in question, it performs normally, but I want the much more convenient right click context menu option. How can I associate these files with Quick Par, which the pc seems determined to ignore?
