I have installed pictures from my old computer and they went into my desktop choices. How do a get rid of them under display properties>desktop so that they are not part of the choice.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP, is there any way to remove the list of "My Pictures" from the wallpaper (background) list in Display Properties? Every picture I've saved from the Internet and every picture I've saved from my digital camera appears in the list of background pictures that can be chosen from the "Desktop" tab in Display Properties. MOST of these pictures would be inappropriate as desktop wallpaper so I'd rather not have them as choices in the list (menu). In addition, there are hundreds of them! I don't want to delete them from "My Pictures" however.

I right click on desktop, select properties, click on desktop tab i then go to try and browse wallpapers but am unable as the box and scroll are frozen. I also have a problem when i type into run. "regedit" as soon as the registry opens it closes again so i am unable to edit the registry or look through it? This picture is of what my desktop wallpapers looks like..

When i try to delete them it comes up with "Error Deleting File or Folder: Cannot delete file: cannot read from source file or disk" How can i get these files off of my computer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNot to sure whats going on and I donot know how to correct this, but all of my documents in Explorer show up under Music-DVD-Media Programs as well as under C:/Documents & Settings/Jeanine Rediger/My Documents.I am submitting a picture of the screens under Explorer, It looks like to me that the Music-DVD-Media Program is a shortcut to My Documents, thats not right is it?

View 3 Replies View Relatedis it safe to delete my older profile named Administrator from System Properties Advanced tab>under User Profiles>Settings? as i already have a new administrator account. it all happened when my Pc crashed & i had to create a new administrator account.also i booted it twice so it created two additional folders-Administrator.username & Administrator . Also it gives me an option to delete the old Administrator from above path.

Unfortunately, it changed my desktop back to the old classic windows style. I went to properties to get back the windows XP style. Ya know, the one that it comes with, soft round edges, microsoft blue. Unfortunately it won't change back, even though I keep choosing that style and hitting apply
When I right-click on the desktop and choose Properties, all I get is a drop-down box to select a theme - no tabs for screen saver, etc. I tried the "Restore All Display Tabs" solution at kellys-korner-xp.com, didn't work. The tabs do appear if I boot in safe mode, but changes aren't saved. I've run virus and spyware scans (including the scans at ewido.net), nothing picked up.

I've tried various regentries (downloaded off the net mostly) to try and work this back in, but none of them work.i've also looked at the current user registry settings, and all are in shape. i'm running XP Home and so there's no group settings from the run menu, :s i can't imagine what it cuold be :S

This is not happening with just one of my shortcuts this is happening with all of them.I usually do a restart to fix this problem and it doesn't happen any more but that is only a temporary fix because it often happens again when I startup my computer. View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my desktop. I keep placing my icons where I want them on the desktop and every time I either reboot or refresh the desktop they jumble up again. The only thing I have checked in the properties menu is "Show Desktop Icons". I have installed "Icon Restore" and it works until I run a program, open a browser, or even open "My Computer". When I close whatever I am working on and return to the desktop, everything is jumbled again. In addition, the taskbar properties keep changing on reboot. On the Properties menu I have "Keep the taskbar on top" etc., "Group similar" etc., and "Show Quick Launch" checked. I also have several items in the notifications area set to "always show". On reboot, the "Show Quick Launch" becomes unchecked, and the notification area items either change to "hide when inactive" or become part of the "Past Items" list.

I'm not sure when they disappeared, but most likely when I had a virus. I've gotten rid of the virus, but the Screen Saver is gone.

So i went to add/remove progs and uninstalled it. but when i restart my computer i get to the boot screen an have chose from xp or ubuntu? why is this? please help. I have partitioned 5 Gb for ubuntu how can I get it back and use it for xp? can i got to the file "boot.ini" found in C drive and erase the text where it says 'C:wubildr.mbr = "Ubuntu"' and change the value of partition from 1 to 0 in that file?
