I have tried soooo many things and none of them have worked. I even ask Yahoo! Answers and I didn't even get an answer. I have been to that kelly's corner website that has xp registry tweaks, and they didn't help.

When I click on desktop and select properties to change the desktop wallpaper I have a list of family photographs!I still have the desktop wallpaper folder in windows web folder but how do I put it back into the desktop and remove the ones that are mysteriously there.
In Win XP/Home/SP2 (all updates applied), when I right click on an item on my desktop (shortcut, file, folder, etc.), or in Windows Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer), then click on "Properties," nothing happens. No properties are displayed; no error message comes up; nothing. When I try this, I am logged in as an administrator.A search of the forum revealed numerous similar questions which have never been solved. The only one that seems to be solved is regarding the properties of the display (i.e. for wallpaper, screensavers, etc.), and that works properly on my system.
I've had something happen to my Windows XP Pro network connection properties. No matter what I do the under the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties it always defaults back to Obtain an IP address automatically. I'm trying to assign a static IP.I've been using this computer in a static IP mode for approximately 6 years. Monday all #$%^ breaks loose and I'm still trying to recover. The registry still holds the proper information, but for some reason everytime I view it from the properties tab it's back to auto.
I am unable to change desktop wallpaper going through properties then desktop. I right click on desktop, select properties, click on desktop tab i then go to try and browse wallpapers but am unable as the box and scroll are frozen. I also have a problem when i type into run. Recently i downloaded a program for msn called 'CE/DP STEALER. After i downloaded it , it didnt seem to be working correctly, so i uninstalled it and all of its adds. , now my problem is that the 'CE/DP STEALER' has left loads of past items on my customise notifications. what i mean by this is that when you right click on the taskbar, and then click properties, i go to the taskbar tab, and then i click on customise.I see that the CE/DP STEALER has left alot of rubbish in my past items. Is there anyway of getting rid of all this?
a while ago something went wrong with my computer im not sure if its spyware or just something changed my settings. I use Spybot S&D and Ad-aware and Norton Antivirus and have completed scans for all of them. The context menu (right click) does not work on files in Windows Explorer or on the desktop, but works in Start menu, web browser, etc. Also I cannot access Properties for files. I have tried going through File >> Properties, but the Properties box never appears after I have clicked the link.At the same time of this problem my system restore suddenly disabled itself and will not let me enable it (System restore encountered problems trying to enable/disable system restore on one of your drives. Please restart your machine and try again).I have logged on in a different account and the context menu and properties work, so it only seems to be in my account.
I cannot change desktop wallpaper. The Desktop tab under Display Properties has all of the available options for wallpaper in gray. I also cannot click "Browse."Also I cannot choose a picture to "set as Desktop Background."
After it found all the double files, i asked it to delete the first copy of each double, simple. right? Unfortunately, it changed my desktop back to the old classic windows style. I went to properties to get back the windows XP style. Ya know, the one that it comes with, soft round edges, microsoft blue. Unfortunately it won't change back, even though I keep choosing that style and hitting apply
When I right-click on the desktop and choose Properties, all I get is a drop-down box to select a theme - no tabs for screen saver, etc. I tried the "Restore All Display Tabs" solution at kellys-korner-xp.com, didn't work. The tabs do appear if I boot in safe mode, but changes aren't saved. I've run virus and spyware scans (including the scans at ewido.net), nothing picked up.
Another problem, I've had it for a while, and it's not huge, but it would be interesting to see if anyone knows a fix for it.My desktop tab in display properties has gone missing. I've tried various regentries (downloaded off the net mostly) to try and work this back in, but none of them work.i've also looked at the current user registry settings, and all are in shape. i'm running XP Home and so there's no group settings from the run menu, :s i can't imagine what it cuold be :S
I remember few days ago.. my kaspersky identified some system file as a trojan.. so it probably a misunderstanding when i was installing system mechanic. it got deleted.. and i have this automatic option to delete them after they are put in backup in kaspersky. now whenever i open my pc, my desktop and taskbar and start menu, etc goes away after a few seconds! Now i rely on the task manager..

When I right click on desktop and choose Properties, nothing happens. When I go to control panel/appearance and themes and click on anything, nothing opens (except folder options and "Taskbar and Start Menu" ) The only way I can change wallpaper is by right clicking on an image and selecting set as wallpaper, but I cant do anything else without properties.

The 'RUN' short cut has dissappeared from the 'START' pop-up menu. This Gateway laptop is using W2000-Pro. This has never happened before. I'd like to get the 'RUN' icon/shortcut back, because it's convenient to use.
Sometimes when I double click my shortcuts on my desktop the program doesn't open up. Instead the properties window pops up. This is not happening with just one of my shortcuts this is happening with all of them.I usually do a restart to fix this problem and it doesn't happen any more but that is only a temporary fix because it often happens again when I startup my computer. What is the reason for this? Is anybody else having this problem?
A first with the wallpaper. a have installed one that i can not remove. I've tried to find it in the add/remove but is not there also looked in the properties, nothing
I'm having a problem with my desktop. I keep placing my icons where I want them on the desktop and every time I either reboot or refresh the desktop they jumble up again. The only thing I have checked in the properties menu is "Show Desktop Icons". I have installed "Icon Restore" and it works until I run a program, open a browser, or even open "My Computer". When I close whatever I am working on and return to the desktop, everything is jumbled again. In addition, the taskbar properties keep changing on reboot. On the Properties menu I have "Keep the taskbar on top" etc., "Group similar" etc., and "Show Quick Launch" checked. I also have several items in the notifications area set to "always show". On reboot, the "Show Quick Launch" becomes unchecked, and the notification area items either change to "hide when inactive" or become part of the "Past Items" list.
i have a dilemma with changing my wallpaper.I click on display properties->desktop tab->no response, just freezes.i click on the red cross to get out and comes up with message saying can't run rundll32.exe as app. I've tried looking for solutions but no one seems to know.I can set wallpaper by clicking on a photo then 'set as wallpaper' but i can't center them as the option is in the display properties desktop tab.
I have installed pictures from my old computer and they went into my desktop choices. How do a get rid of them under display properties>desktop so that they are not part of the choice.
i'm slightly puzzled to why my XP pro themes are missing. The Themes service is running but the option to select XP themes is missing in the appearence tab via desktop properties. I have no third party software running on boot and as i said before im puzzled.
Came home tonight and notice my wallpaper had changed from the sand to just a plain blue. When I go to display and then desktop properties I see that all the choices are grey out or I can not access them. Can some one help me out with this one? I did a scan and found nothing.
I've just had to rebuild my XP Pro laptop (and not for the first time). Before I rebuilt it I had classic start menus (so I must have set them last time)I've clicked on the 'classic start menus' box in the right place but I'm still getting the new start menu When I go to the taskbar/start menu properties it says I'm using classic - but I'm still getting the new start menu.
I have installed a program that acts like a docking station (like a Mac's menu). The location of this dock is where the start menu is, and I minimized the start menus. Only except, every time I restart my machine, the start menu is back to its normal size. I am using Win2000.
