Feb 19, 2005
I have win xp home. I'm sick and tired of the screensavers and want to delete the whole lot and replace it with my own question: how do I delete the screensavers ONLY without affecting the rest of the "Properties"
will answer tomorrow - am in transit jc2002
A student has installed a theme in one lab computer that I cannot get rid of. It doesn't appear to have the *.theme extension -- a search for that or the theme name turns up nothing. Additionally, in Display Properties > Themes, the Windows XP theme is gone; also, under Appearance > Windows and Buttons, the Windows XP Style is gone.
i'm slightly puzzled to why my XP pro themes are missing. The Themes service is running but the option to select XP themes is missing in the appearence tab via desktop properties. I have no third party software running on boot and as i said before im puzzled.
1) I have no idea how this happened, but when I click on "Display Properties" to change the desktop wallpaper, there are 4 tabs, and only one is related to lthe desktop display. It is the 'Themes" tab. There is no ""Desktop" tab so that I can select a .bmp file to use as my new wallpaper display.
2) While I'm at it, could someone please tell me where and what folder Windows uses for the screensaver files?
I have installed pictures from my old computer and they went into my desktop choices. How do a get rid of them under display properties>desktop so that they are not part of the choice.
I think i have some sort of 'infection' that is affecting my Display Driver and not letting Windows accept the files. The problem started nearly a week back and over 20 reinstallations of 3 different versions of the Intel Extreme Graphics Driver later, it still gives me the same error. There seems to be an issue with ialmrnt5.dll (one of the display driver files). The main error message that i get from Windows goes something like: "Windows has recovered from a serious device failure. Please close all programs and reboot to restore full functionality". Else, i get a message directly pointing out the file saying something like: "the ialmrnt5.dll Display Driver has malfunctioned.
is it safe to delete my older profile named Administrator from System Properties Advanced tab>under User Profiles>Settings? as i already have a new administrator account. it all happened when my Pc crashed & i had to create a new administrator account.also i booted it twice so it created two additional folders-Administrator.username & Administrator . Also it gives me an option to delete the old Administrator from above path.
I have a Toshiba, Laptop, it's Satellite A60, and I use Windows XP home edition. After a power outage i had an active desktop error page come up, i clicked the restore button but now 1/4 of my screen is wallpaper and the rest is a bit white block, I have tried to fix this problem a number of ways but it just wont change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If something new got added to desktop could that affect it
The display control panel is not allowing me to change the background image. It will not even allow me to click on the field where the different images are displayed. I did a virus scan several times and it didn't help.
I have an xp partition that takes up about half of my hard drive. The rest of the hard drive is just un-partitioned space. What is the easiest and fastest way to resize the xp partition so that it takes up the entire hard drive?

My (WinXP) system drive is dying and I need to replace it. I'd like to copy everything over from the C drive to a spare. I've tried using Norton's Ghost "clone" option to copy the drive (C->E), but after the copy and the new HD moved to master, Windows hangs at the blue startup screen. I can do a fresh install of XP, but would rather avoid that route. Questions:1. Can anyone explain a better way of doing this, list a web site(s) with instructions or recommend a better utility than Ghost? 2. Any ideas of why Windows is hanging? When it hangs, pressing ESC or Enter produces a beep, the rest of the keys are silent.
I've tried every search and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.I"ve got dozens of windows 98 themes (Star Wars) and want to bring them over to my new XP Pro machine. Is this possible? Do I need to convert them to get them to work? Many of these didn't have XP equivalents so I can't get new ones. They're all zip files no exes.
I recently purchased XP Pro. And did all the updates online. My current version is SP3. I saw a very cool theme called XP Pro Black Edition. Here's an image. I have tried google.com to find it, but the only thing that shows up is pirated copies. I am running a legit XP and am confused on how to download this theme, or is the Black Edition a whole different version of XP that I have to buy?
How do I make my own themes? And why when I was changing a theme did my menu screen thingy go black? I couldn't even see to do a system restore. I started it up in safe mode and I couldn't see it there either. I finally got into the properties on my desktop and fumbled till I got a good theme.
I installed Windows XP Themes Pack on my laptop, but don't know how to find/use them. When I right click on my desktop and go to Properties/Themes, I don't see any new themes in the drop-down box.
where I can find themes for XP, or maybe even linux, that are based on artists like Jacek Yerka or some other surrealist like them? Like I'm googling them but not really finding anything.
i would like to make my own PC themes. you know how there are the Windows XP style themes. can you make your own Windows XP style theme? i wanna i have a black, red, or purple colored theme instead of a blue or silver or green colored them.
Exactly as the title says, I'm looking for a dark black kinda vista looking theme. Every time I visit a website that offers themes or whatnot, it seems theres ALWAYS viruses, spyware, or adaware involved.
I installed a Vista theme onto my PC and when i uninstalled it it removed all my themes leaving only the windows classic. Unfortunately my system retoring has been turned off so i dont have any retsore points.
I was running along just swell this morning, until Windows Explorer crashed. Here's the scenario. Adobe CS2 was asking for activation (I've been lazy about registering it), at the same moment I was launching opening a folder. For some reason beyond my understanding, this caused Windows Explorer to crash. A couple of moments later it was running just fine.I keep working, no problems are apparent. I restart my system, and lo and behold, my XP theme has been replaced by the generic Windows, gray bar, non-cartoony theme. You know, the type you get when you select "Use Windows Classic Style."Problem is, I right click on my desktop to change my theme back (I *like* olive green), and all of bundled WinXP themes (you know, the blue, silver, olive green) are no longer within the drop down box. Just Windows Classic.
I know that in Win ME there is a program for Desktop Themes that you can pick and choose what you want to change or keep default and so forth, is there anything like for XP? Im still trying to adjust to Xp and I love it now. I seen this image on a website that this guy took of his desktop, and the toolbar had a new look to it and it was gray and it just looked pretty sweet.
Windows Blinds XP has been integrated into the Windows XP operating system. Microsoft and Stardock have entered into a partnership in which Microsoft will use their technology in the Windows XP operating system. With Windows Blinds XP installed you have additional styles to choose from in display properties.
Just switched from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro and would like to know if it is possible to get some of the old savers and themes that I had with the 98? there were quite a few that I liked but I do not have them with this OS. I do have the Windows 98 disk and was wondering if they would be on it and if so how would I install them to this system?
So I wanted to add some new wallpapers and like a dumbass I download a theme by accident and when I deleted it and tried to change my theme back to the original Xp theme it gives me a cannot run dll as app error and I cannot switch to any theme at all. I tried restoring luna theme to no avail. Ran malwarebytes and nothing came up. Any thoughts? I just want to get the original XP theme back.
First off, I'm not even sure if its possible. But myself and my partner are trying to set up a batch file or command file that will change the XP Theme for us.Anyone have any pointers or actually know if this will work? It was just an idea, but I'd like to put it into motion.
I am not able to get my theme for winxp back to default. When I open control panel, for example, the test above the "switch to classic view" is not the default color the way it was earlier. I tried to use the adjustments for themes and colors but to no avail. What are the steps to go back to the way windows xp home default would be at the onset.
