Delays Internet Connecting For Two Minutes

I use a licensed WIN XP Home and am wondering why it takes about two minutes after my wallpaper and icons appear before I can connect to my dsl provider? While waiting for those two minutes, the cursor remains as an hourglass and until I am able to connect to the internet. If I try to connect to the Internet or double click any icon during those two minutes, nothing happens. I do use Zone Alarm with the security settings set to high as well as the Windows firewall enabled.

I recently bought a hp desktop with windows xp home on it.Anyways everything seems to be good i used the disks and rest it back to factory and i am having a problem with connecting it to the internet. It recognizes the Ethernet cord connected, but it will not connect to the internet.ive tried : resetting the router typing in a manual ip address and all that.I took out the chip and dusted it off and well dusted out all the internals. everything seems to be running fine no reported issues.

I finally relented and installed service pack 2 recently and my computer has been EXTREMELY sluggish and has frozen up a few times. Currently, two LAN icons appear in the tray at the bottom, one with my DSL connection, the other saying there is no connection

I am using the Microsoft firewall and Spy Sweeper for MSN, with up-to-date definitions and a recent sweep.Today when I signed in online,the Connection Center had a pop-up and asked if i wanted a security check.It wouldn't take "no" for an answer.When I took the security check the Connection Center said it couldn't find my access numbers, and this prevented me from going online

installed dynex dx-pcigb gigabit pci adapter ethernet card in my emachines t1120 computer as it only had a 56k modum adapter.ran enclosed cd for new card. wont connect to internet using internet explorer. tried unplugging router for 3 mins. and retry no connection.tryed uninstalling drivers and the reinstalling still no connection,on bottom of taskbar on the right side it saysaquiring network address,but it never happens.

I believe it must be a problem i have with the internet. Every time i connect it seems to work fine for a few minutes then cuts off. IT takes approx a few minutes for it to start working again. It is anyone guess how long it works for before the same thing happens again. This is getting very frustrating now and i don't know what to do.I have 1GB of RAM, 160GB HD and a Pentium 4 Processor.

I recently installed the Microsoft SP2now I'm having some issues.When I first boot up my computer and log one everything is fine. A few minutes later my internet seems to mess up. In Firefox,everything seems to just die. When I click on a link it acts like it loads it, but nothing happens. If I open a new window, it's opens a blank white window with nothing in the address bar. If I try to type in a website, it will appear to load it, yet nothing happens.I have MSN Messenger set to run when windows starts, and it does connect. However, it will shortly 'die' as well. If I try to reconnect to it I get an error. When I ran the troubleshoot for it it said the problem was in the 'key ports'.There is an old game that I frequently play. The odd thing is, it works perfectly. I can load it up and connect to it without a problem.

My internet connection is being blocked after roughly 15 mins, so i have to restart or disconnect to get it back, upon reconnecting another 15 mins pass and it does it again. I'm running zone alarm free firewall, avg anti virus and ad ware filter. i know i can do something with win sock but im don't know how to do it.

My computer won't let me use the system restore function.It won't let me run or install programs.And if I try to a small black window pops up for a second than goes away.If I connect my computer to the internet a message pops up two minutes at the most later saying that windows has suffered a huge error or something and needs to shut down.And in the message a counter goes down from forty second than my computer restarts.That only happens if the internet is connected.

When I turn on the HP laptop, I see the IVENT logo, then the screen goes dark for 30 minutes, then boots completely to reveal Windows XP. I can use the cd/dvd drive but cannot connect to the internet. There is a warranty, but Best Buy advises there are no hardware issues. They said re-loading Windows would fix the problem. I have performed all the restore and windows trouble shooting start-up fixes and those do not work. However, under device manager, the 1394 adapter "has a problem" and there are yellow ? under Ethernet controller, Multimedia Audio controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, PCI Modem, Video Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible)and an exclamation pt under SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller.

XP Home reboots in the 3+ minute range. Once it gets to the 'Starting Windows XP' screen, it loads fine. Some damnthing is hanging.MY comp is running slow. Expeciially on the net. Task manager is reporting no excess network use. IE 6 acts like it's on a 56k modem. I use Mozilla FireFox, which runs fine, but my wife is a IE 6 fanatic. Shareaza and WinMX load slowly and take a minute or more to change tabs. BitTornado (latest versions all) loads and runs fine, but seems to hang after an hour or so. It stops updating speeds, seeds, peers, etc. It also closes slowly. Once I get online, the comp slams on the brakes. Mozilla is the only app that seems unaffected. Sygate is also logging a lot of portscans. 7 in the in the last hour or so. All from the same IP address.

my computer take about 10 minutes to load. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the user screen, and another 5 from there. This computer uaully would boot in around 1 min.

my cable is not working properly.Every 15-20 minutes my internet connection is broken even though the modem is online and there is no problem with the cable coming into my house. I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. I already talked to my ISP support but these guys are brain damaged or something and cannot even comprehend my problem and all 3 actually concluded that i had somehow contracted some killer virus immediately after connecting my computer and this virus was the root of my problems

Im using a dial up connection, when turn my pc on and go online there is no problem but once I disconnect and want to go online again when I try to connect a message appear Error633 the modem or other connecting device is already in use or not configured properly to connect again I always need to restart the computer. Ive already reinstall my modem but its still the same.

She has contacted her internet provider, and they have assured her that everything checks out on their end, but she still can't connect.I was going to remotely download some software from my computer and send it to hers.

When my Mom proffers an invitation for remote assisance using MSN Messenger 7.0 she recieves the following: "Remote Assistance cannot connect because <user> denied the request for help". I've looked at some of the other, similar, threads posted on connectivity issues with 7.0 in these forums, but nothing seems to help. We can send and recieve each others video and audio. Also, the games work. I've tried to do this with a couple of other freinds with the same result. Before we were forced into the 7.0 upgrade there were no problems.
I've checked my settings to allow RA, reinstalled 7.0, tried using Windows Messenger, and have tried doing this with my firewall (ZoneAlarm) disabled.

2 days ago my itunes had problems connecting and then my msn explorer stopped connecting so did firefox i have internet explorer 7 installed i have done for ages i dont use it but get pop ups from starware sometimes an a message pops up sayin about working offline cause it cant connect i dont know if i accidently pressed work offline or not but my firefox will connect and work on safe mode. Another thing is when i turned off zone alarm my firefox connected in safe mode where as it did not when zone alarm was switched on this should not cause a problem though as my firefox and msn explorer always worked when zone alarm was switched on my msn messenger wont connect either i have tried resetting internet explorer now my internet explorer works and firefox but still not my msn explorer and msn messenger also i cant even open itunes

I have a HP nc8230 computer running Windows XP Home edition SP3.The computer has built in Bluetooth support that works fine with my cellular phone and mouse.I also have a Motorola H390 Bluetooth headset and I want to use it with my computer (mainly for Skype calls) .I'm able to pair the headset with the computer but when I try to hear (or speak) I can't hear anything.

Sometimes I have to re-install windows without uninstalling my programs. When I do this-- the programs are still there, BUT, XP can't connect to them. I have to reinstall the programs.How do I avoid this and/or what do I need to do to get everything back as it was? This is NOT for a complete format and reload.

I am having trouble connecting to web browers. I am connected to the internet, and can still connect to MSN, AIM etc., most of the time.Basic Info:I am using Windows XP (version 5.1.26, Home edition) I am using a cable modem I am also using a router for internet sharing between my desktop computer (directly connected to router) and my laptop computer.I scanned my system by running network diagnostics to gether more information.The scanning traced a problem under "Network Adapters". More specifically, it says "(FAILED)" next to the IP Address, and "(PASSED)" next to everything else: Default Gateway, DHCPServer, DNSServerSearchOrder.I gather the IP address is the problem (though the IP address itself appears normal, beginning with 192.168).

A Wanadoo-a789 Model: dv4210-wa as a router and 2 computers both running windows xp and were both reinstalled not long ago, for a while they were able to talk to each other but for some reasson they just can't see each other now, they can't even ping each other. This is even with the windows and router firewall turned off.
