I am going to upgrade my Personal Computer, my current Personal Computer is old and i am thinking of replacing the Hard Drive, the thing is that my current Hard Drive has XP on it and i was supplied no disk. My current Personal Computer Does not support 2 Hard Disk so i cannot back up, so what can i do, is there a way i can make a XP disk from the XP files on my Personal Computer?

When Windows had problems in the past, I could simply press F10 on startup and there was a diagnostic section which allowed me to reformat in an either destructive or non-destructive way. What happens if my computer doesn't start up nowadays? As in, the Windows Loading logo screen appears and then the monitor goes black and stays black.. Is there any software or method to allow me to have some sort of management over this? Sorry if I have not been able to correctly ask my question.. Kinda hard.

View 23 Replies View Relatedi have a computer running a polish version of windows when i boot in normal and safe mode the error comes up about a corrupt shell32.dll and that reinstalling the app may help the problem.i tried to boot up with winternals erd commander to fix file systems but an error occurred with a blue screen complaining about the same shell32.dll.i booted off a windows 98 cd to dos.but it cant see the ntfs partition and on top of it i read that xp has an encryption key for files in the windows directory and it gave a fix...but in order for the fix to work you had to be able to get into windows.so obviously this doesnt help me.what are my options.what would you do.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi got windows xp home and im unable to enter my desktop or login, when i start up i get to the windows xp home logo and the process bar, but after that everything turns black and stays that way forever.i can't enter safe mode, the computer simply dont let me, i tap the safe mode options key, f12 for me, not f8, but the screen never shows up, it's like it doesnt register the key is there, i can tap f8 to get the booting options and f1 for bios options, but not the safe mode.
this happened after i found a virus in winlogon.exe, the AV deleted it and that is when things got messed up, although i have done this before actually, but then i just repair installed windows and everything went back to normal, but when i try this now, it doesnt work, it installs windows all over again, the blue screen and the yellow progress bar, but when it's suppose to reboot and then continue the installation

View 9 Replies View RelatedMinutes ago I attempted to copy my HDD to another HDD. And I got this message: "Could not copy the file NxFsMon." It IS an XP system driver.Now, I don't know for a fact that this file is corrupt. But let's assume that it is. In which case deleting it and replacing it would, one would think, be a logical approach to the problem. (I fear such an assumption does not always apply in dealing with computers.). Assuming, of course, the file is on the CD. But it's in System32, so would that not be a fair assumption?If the file is corrupt, then there's an XP Repair install or a clean install option. But tell me, could not a copy of the file be taken from the XP CD and used to replace the same file on the HDD. It would seem a quick and much easier solutionthan a repair or clean install.

I am sure that the bios have been affected and attempts to boot from either a floppy or cd get ignored in the loading process and the bios canot find the module to activate the periferal devices ie: keyboard, mouse, usb ports. View 8 Replies View RelatedMy computer at work won't open IE for me, I used it last night and this morning I come in and everytime I try to open it an error message pops up, and says Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. No one else used the computer while I was home last night and I absolutely need IE as my customer management system is only usable with IE, it will not work with Firefox or Chrome. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem, sadly I'm pretty useless without my computer at work.
