Cmd Prompt

I'm trying to figure out how I can search for folders using command prompt. But it's a little more complicated then just that. I have a huge list of folders in excel and I need to search in just those folders to see if there are folders in them. is there a command I can use to search for folders in each location? I was thinking I could use excel, with the list of folders i want to search through, then write the command to each folder and paste everything into notepad and save as a bat file. Then have the results go into a text file. This sounds complicated, but any help would be much appriciated

I think this happened when I ran AdAware. I cannot connect to my wireless internet had figured out that my IP ADDRESS is all zeros. I know my ip, I just don't know how to tell my computer what it is! If you cannot tell, I am barely literate in computers.

I have Windows XP on my computer, and when I try to ping something through the command prompt (command.com), this shows up:Running tracert also has the same problem. If I try running ping or tracert through cmd.exe, it stalls and doesn't do anything. I have to close the program because it doesn't respond.I can use ipconfig in both cmd.exe and command.com. Do I have a virus on my computer, or is there a way to repair the command prompt?

I have Windows XP Home and for some reason, all of a sudden I am unable to run any kind of commands in the Command prompt under Start - Programs - Accessories. I used to be able to run things like system file checker and ipconfig but for some reason I cannot now. Could DOS be corrupted or am I just accessing things wrongly. Last time I tried to run IPCONFIG I received a message that said "IPCONFIG is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program"....Also when I open up the command prompt it says C:Documents and Settings Username.

For some reason, I can only get the old Windows 2000 logon prompt, even though I have "Use The Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching" enabled in my User Account settings. I want to use the Windows XP style logon. Unfortunately, with the classic logon prompt, I am unable to switch users without logging out of my current account.

A friend of mine set up my computer for me, and is no longer available to answer this question, so Here it is: When starting up Windows I get past the black-windows XP screen with windows flag, then on the next screen, when the screen background turns blue, I get a "Enter password" dialog box. I simply hit the Enter with no Password, and the PC continues to load up Windows with no further prompt. The PC is running Windows XP Professional Home Edition, is in a single home use enviornment, and it serves only my wife & I. I see no need to limit file accessibility, therefore no need for any password. Did my friend enter me as an Administrator during the system build? If so, do I have to delete the Administrator and Guest account? I want to 'get-rid' of this password screen - it is more annoying than anything else.

It always starts with (c:documents and settingsmark>) is this how it is supposed to start out.Every time I type a command it never works. I want to type this- tasklist /m /fi "IMAGENAME eq rundll32.exe" >C:undll32.txt because my pc would not let me shut down kept saying rundll32.exe was not responding. Earlier I clicked on windows card space because I had not seen it before to see what it was and it started the service, when I clicked on it again it said it was to busy to answer my request.I never heard of such! It uses rundll32.exe, I think.I finally hit "end now" and rebooted, now I got 2 rundll32.exe's.I found that command on Ramishes site under "whats the suspicious Rundll32.exe" http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rundll32.htm Anyway I thought cmd should start with "c:" and thats it?

Hey! I am having a big problem with my command Prompt. Everytime I try and open a program that uses it, the prompt appears on the screen but disappears in a split second. It's like a quick flash. Now, when I open the prompt by itself by going to it in "Start---All Programs---Accessories---Command Prompt, it works fine. But I can't do hardly anything from there.
Any advice?

I have stopped the program through "services" and have been instructed to remove a file via cmd prompt but when I try to do this I get a message stating C:program is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Does anyone know of a way to get the file/folder properties page from a cmd prompt as though you have just gone and right-clicked the file/folder in the gui, The reason I ask is because I may have a user logged in and need to look at the file/folder properties (specifically the ntfs permissions) and because they are logged in as a user account and have no access to the folder they cannot even see the security tab of the properties box. So I need a way from the command prompt to open the properties box of a file/folder (as I have done a runas to get an admin prompt inside their user gui session. Looking at security settings in a cmd program may also be of some interest if anyone knows that either

As stated one of our customers has some windows based software (Sage Line 100 and Telemagic to be precise) which is run from a shortcut on the desktop mapped to a network share with the exe located within. whenever you run either of these shortcuts or even if you navigate directly to the file you get the error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" the users in question have full local rights and full control over the files on the server inc the exe. As they are part of the USERs group which have full control. The Administrator has no problem in getting this file to run

I recently rebuilt my Windows XP Pro laptop with a clean install. I discovered today that upon trying to run some command line syntax, my laptop is not recognizing any normal commands (ie. ping, ipconfig, nslookup, I am receiving a message "'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." I run cmd line often and need this to work, Is there something that didn't install properly or do I need to execute a file within my system32 directory to activate this area of my OS
