Exactly as the file says. I try to open a drive to search through it.. such as the c: drive.. and it will do a little processing.. and it will open the browser to the 'search' program instead of opening my drive. Same goes for every file on my computer! Eek! Anybody got any ideas? I may have f*$&ed something up when I was trying to change the default folder and drive icons in the Folder Options. Anybody! This is rather detrimental to my computers health lol! help!!

I just turned my computer on today, and out of the blue it seems my secondary hard drive has committed suicide. It had only one NTFS partition covering all 300GB, but now its one FAT partition a little under 2GB plus tons of unallocated space. I have no clue how this happened, but would like to get back as much data as I can. Whenever I run an undelete program, it looks at the partition, not the drive, so it only sees 2GB of nothing and can't see any files.

When I go to the start button and click on all programs a screen comes up with all my programs. The problem with this is that I can't see all of my programs. Win XP Pro creates a screen that is not wide enough to display all my programs. My question is there a way to move the left edge of the screen to the left edge on my monitor so I can see all my programs. This screen doesn't go to the left edge of my monitor and you can't just click on the left edge and drag it to the left. It doesn't move. There should be a piece of code that tell XP where to display on screen. Can I get access to this code and move the left edge of this screen to the left as far as possible? I have approximately 115 programs and XP displays 3 columns plus a half of another column that I can only read a few letters in the forth column. Can the width of these columns also be made smaller so that I could view all of them? I'm sure there is a way to do this but I have never seen this problem addressed anywhere.

It is not a problem to me but im just curious why windows xp likes to arrange my newly installed programs at the end of the list. It used to be in alphabetical order, very nice and neat. Now its like the new ones would line up after, say windows media player. Whats governing how XP manage this kind of stuff. Through registry or some ini files.

I have just installed a Program (Music Publisher) but it has not appeared on the Add/Remove List. The Program seems to be working OK and has its own uninstall feature so its not a problem why it does not appear on the XP Add/Remove List ?

This is probably something so simple you will think I am really stupid - well I'm not usually but I have the little knowledge of computers that is a famously dangerous thing. Also I have never been part of a forum like this before, so please bear with me. When I go in the start menu to programs I have so many that they won't all fit on screen and I can't move the window to view them all. Also I would like to organize them into a smaller number of folders, but I can't do that either.

that would show me what services on my PC I would be safe in temporarily stopping? I'm having some jitter in the capture of video through VIVO that I'm attributing to too many services running at once and using up so much resource. I can see it well enough in the final DVD production being played on a home DVD player that it is annoying. I can easily suspend the usual programs like anti-virus and such but there are a boatload of other services that run. If anyone knows of a program or a list that would indicate to me what services are mandatory.

I recently deleted a Trojan virus from my computer, and thought I was all smart for being able to do so, but to my dismay, I opened my Start Menu to find that The "All Programs" button had somehow been removed from the start menu.Any ideas on how to get it back would be greatly appreciated. My English teacher doesn't seem like the type I could use the "My computer broke " excuse on.
