Command Use In Run To Open List Of Startup Programs
Jul 29, 2005
Can anyone tell me which command i use, in run, to open the list of startup programs so i can stop some of them from starting each time i log on to windows. i use windows xp home edition.
When I right click on a file and select "open with" there is a program on the list that I do not have anymore which is adobe acrobat reader 5.0. I have XP home.
How do you remove the "Common Startup" items from the startup list in msconfig for Windows XP? I did locate and remove the "Run" items that are located in HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent VersionRun.
Hi, I am having a weird problem. I cannot change what programs I use by defualt to open windows files. It does not matter whether I right click on a certain file and choose open with or if I use the tools option in the folder menu. This is what happens. I want to open a .jpg file with picassa photo viewer. I right click the .jpg file and choose open with. I then click browse to locate the .exe file that will open it. Well once I click it I get sent back to the open with window and nothing has changed. The .jpg file will not open with any program that can open it and it will not add the .exe file into the window. This is a bit frustrating as I cannot change what opens certain windows files by default. This goes for any type of file I try to open with any program.
I've reinstalled XP and some icons are missing from the "Start"/"all programs" menu. Both Outlook Express and Internet Explorer are missing. I was able to locate them using "search" then open and pin to start menu. (The search function displays i.e. shortcuts for "administrator", "guest" and the other user, but not for me. The icons do display on the "all programs" list for the other user). Any suggestions as to how to get them back on the "all programs" menu?
When I click on the "All Programs" in the start menu, it comes up in one long single listing. It used to be 2 listings, when the 1st had enough, the second listing would be next to it. However it's all in a single listing now. How can I get it back to 2 lists?? This is a clear explanation.
I am running xp sp2, and when you click on start-all programs, a list should show..i lost assesories, and all the other standard ones, the only thigs that are there are programs i loaded, but the puzzleing thing is its on my lap top and only under on user name, not the 4 others..make sence?
I have tried searching this forum and did some Googling but haven't seen a cure for this. I have a pretty fair amount of programs installed and my 'all programs' list is pretty long. The problem is it takes almost 30 seconds to scroll from the top to the bottom, which is annoying when I want to start a program that's at the bottom (or top) of the list. Does anyone know of a registry hack or something that can speed it up?
I am using Windows XP SP2. When I go to Start/programs I have items listed separately ie: Canon has 5 separate items. Is it possible to put these into a folder under Canon?
All the entries on the "all programs"list show empty although the associated programs are still operative. Any clues as how to fix this? Useing XP Home SP3
Is there a way to remove certain things from the Add/Remove Programs file list? I've manually deleted about seven programs, because their Uninstall would not startup, but the programs stay on the list.
I have a PC running Windows 2000 (Me) and I getting the following error message:
Terminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the setting of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI or remove recently installed VxD's. There are currently 15 SPs allocated. Press any Key to continue.
When I press any key I get the following error message:
There are no spare stack pages. It may be necessary to increase the setting of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM.INI to prevent possible stacks faults. There are currently 16 SPs allocated. Press any Key to continue.
When I press any key I get the first error message again and again. The number of SPs allocated in the error message keeps increasing every time I press a Key.
The only way to acces my PC is with the SAFE Mode.
How do I create folders and combine like programs that show in "All Programs". I want to put all the various utility programs I have into one folder called "Utilities"?
I want to print a list of all the programs I have on my pc, as I am wanting to do a total re-install. I have used the 'uninstall list' from highjack this, but not all of the programs are listed. There are shortcuts on my desktop, which are not in the program list.can I get a complete list of all the programs.
I was checking my daughters pc for some usual maintenance. The start programs on list suddenly dont open, computer freezes up, did the error-checking but I cannot seem to get some vital prgrams to open up. I am running a couple of recent worm tools from Symantec and so far, nothing. Could this be a hardware problem or can someone tell me something I am missing?
I added some new software to my Pc (Win XP system) and now I notice that when I use the Start - All Programs - and view my list of programs I have 3 x Wide Columns but I can't se the 3rd column fully as the first 2 are really wide pushing the 3rd nearly off the screen.
How to narrow this view list.I tried to 'drag' the walls of the colunm but that option is not available.
I have an NEC laptop with Windows XP. I ran C-cleaner today and under the 'Tools' section, found in the 'Uninstall' section several strange programs that I have never installed. I don't know whether to remove them or leave them as they are. I've had the experience of deleting some mystery programs off my old computer and then finding that something or other couldn't run, so I'm deathly afraid that the same thing will happen on my laptop. I'll list out my NEC laptop mystery program names here.
what these programs are and whether to uninstall or leave them? Here they are:
1. AppCore 2. AV 3. ccCommon 4. CP2101 USB to UART Bridge Controller 5. Internet Worm Protection (could this be part of the trial version of Norton Antivirus on my comouter?) 6. SPBBC 32bit 7. SymNet
Also, I've checked other forums that say the following programs (which I didn't install but are on my Programs to Remove list in CCleaner) are harmless, but I just want to make sure they really are. Here is the list: 1. CameraDrivers 2. Director 3. QFolder 4. SkinsHP1 5. SkinsHP2 6. TIxx21/x515 7. TrayApp 8. Unload 9. WebFldrs XP 10. WebReg
I am reinstalling windows xp. i have had it running for 4 years and its getting slower so i'm thinking of doing a clean install.
what i want to know is; is there a way to list all the currently installed programs to assist me with the reinstallation. I want to be able to print out a list so i can install the same programs again-- bar a pile i will leave off.
I would like to put my icons back in the area that is reached via Start/All Programs/ and then associated with the specific program. How to do it?
I want to remove the icons from my desktop. I know I can delete those, but how do I get the icons back to the Programs menu?
For example, once I drag the Word icon from Start/All Programs/Microsoft Office onto my desktop, the Word icon is gone from the All Programs list. How do I get it back in that list?
When I do "Inicio/Todos los programas" and I try right button on mouse to display menu to select the option to classify the list of programs in alphabetical order, this not works. Only a blink appears but not the options list. I have XP Pro SP2.
When I open the START menu/ All Programs, the main list with all the program folders is there but the final files to click are blank, I only get a box, raised from what ever background is present at the time. At this time the hidden icons on the taskbar open and close extremely slowly when operated. I found a temporary fix by deleting anything, so we make a new folder and immediately delete it. This corrects both problems instantly until the next reboot but needs to be done separately for each user that logs on.
When I click on start - all programs, the list opens, but only three programs are there now. Set program access and defaults, Internet Explorer, and Windows media player. All other program links are gone. This is very recent, and the only thing that has changed recently is the XP service pack 2 downloaded and installed. I am currently running McAffee 2004
