Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. , Build number ((2195))...I am experiencing the problems as described in Microsoft's support knowledge base. It all started when I tried to install Norton Systemworks 2006 Preimer and it failed. Then in trying to cleanup Norton's mess. I discovered that I was unable to do things that I had always done, ie. clean-out the Registry. And I started seeing the above message during and after the install try. It sounds like I need Microsoft's fix. I am really taken back up the $99 charge Microsoft wants to give me the fix for a product that I have already paid for and I am a registered user/owner of Windows 2000 Pro/SP4.
Windows Explorer caches DLLs (Dynamic-Link Libraries) in memory for a period of time after the application using them has been closed. This can be an inefficient use of memory. 1. Find the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer]. 2. Create a new sub-key named 'AlwaysUnloadDLL' and set the default value to equal '1' to disable Windows caching the DLL in memory. 3. Restart Windows for the change to take effect. I tried this after running a intense program, then watched the task manager; memory recovered it self.
I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in:
http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...chmentid=62075, but a problem has developed. The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Since I can't copy it, it appears that I am screwed,
This in plain non-techie English? My Microsoft Camera and scanner Wizard no longer comes up when I insert the FLASH-CARD from my HP digital camera in the FLASH-DRIVE on my PC. Nothing happens now, It worked great for 2 years. How do I get the wizard back so I can unload my camera using the flash-card in the flashdrive?I have WXP-Home/SP2. I downloaded some XP security updates but don't know if they caused the problem.
I am trying to add this to registry(open). It says that cannot import certain file.reg The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor. Here is the script I was given to fix my flash player.
I have to change a file association via changing a registry key directly. I know how to do programmatically. What I need to know is what registry keys need to be changed. Specifiically I need to associate the file extension jsp with Internet explorer.
Several weeks ago a window popped up on the screen when I booted the computer. It informed me that information for the registry had been recovered using a log or a file. I presume something happened in the registry. What or how I do not know as I don't fool around in there. Is there anything I need to do or check? How can I be rid of the little window from Windows with the information?
STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):System RootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable I got this on a screen last night.

I exported a backup of the registry to the desktop, and now when I remove that registry back up file from the desktop to another folder, the wallpaper disappears.I tried to import it again from that another folder but it didn't make any difference. I don't want to keep the reg file on my Desktop. How can I restore the registry so my wallpaper shows up, and delete the reg file from the desktop.
I am using XP home and when I start my laptop the following message came up: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

I followed the link from other threads to the microsoft site explaining repairing the registry using the installation disk. I got the computer from my brother in law and do not know where the installation disks are. Also it was factory installed and the microsoft instructions say they do not work with OEM software. Is there a way to fix this without the disk? If I find the disk Dell supplied will it work since it it was not a XP install disk?
I have a Dell Dimension 5100 with Winxp pro sp3 1 Meg of RAM and extra 500 gig hd: I changed (increaded) the Page File zise (Virtual Memory) on both drives and it corrupted the Registry. Now it does not even let me re-install winxp on that drive. Towards the end of the installation I get a message that it cannot copy certain files. The file names varies according to the SP version on the winxp pro cd. Also, I lost the original OS disk from DELL.
I have a dell dimension E310 with windows xp, and everytime I start my computer I get a blue screen, that says "c0000218 {Registry File Failure}The registry cannot load the hive (file):System Root System32Confg SAM or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable" then "beginning dump of physical memory: physical memory dump complete." My warranty expired so dell won't help me unless I want to pay $50 for a phone call, and I was wondering if there is any way to fix my computer without losing everthing that was on it.
I did not add any new memory to my systeme. however, I did remove my current memory to access the inside of my laptop. The fan wire had come loose so I reconnected. I fixed that problem only to find out the problem with the registry. I have chose the load last known configuration that worked correctly but it still gives me the little blue pop up screen with the error, then the restart.
I tried to use my windows xp os disk to try and repair it but it wont read the disc before the blue screen comes back up. I'm thinking of buying a Laptop To IDE Hard Drive Adapter. So, I could at least format my hard drive. I'm not sure if this would be a good idea. I went to the microsoft webpage that deals with this issue but I can not seem to find one to fix my problem.
When I turn on my computer running windows XP, I recieve the following message: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. how to get it normal and my data too?
I have a buddy that cannot start his computer because he has a corrupte system32 registry file. i have fixed this problem before on computers but i cant do this one. when i insert the xp cd and go to the recovery console i can not proceed with typing in the commands. usually when you go to the recovery console it asks for the administrator password, but when i do this to his computer it doesnt ask for it. it just goes to the c:> command line. then i try to type md tmp command and it says access denied..
I downloaded "RegSeeker" and ran it to see what was up with it. Using the'Clean the registry" tab,I was very surprised to find over 700 questionable entries, most of which were "File or Path does not exist" and " Invalid ActiveX/Com entry (CLSID)".
I recently removed all of my file extensions with my Registry Cleaner, now I can't access anything except my browser and Email program.I was trying to clean stuff off of my computer I didn't need I just got a little carried away.I have a backup of the files on my Registry Cleaner but I can't access it,what can I do?Is there any other way to gain access to my Registry Cleaner where I can get to the backup? When I say I removed all of my file extensions I mean every single one.
I am experiencing a registry (hive) file failure which does not allow me to load Windows. Whenever I try to boot in safe mode, or any mode, I get a blue screen that reads:i did some searching on this forum and found a thread that mentioned taking the drive out of the problem computer and slaving it into a different machine to repair the registry. I do have another computer, so this would be an option for me although may be a bit too advanced for my expertise or lack thereof. But I have a BlacX hard drive docking station (basically an external hard drive reader)
I downloaded some Registry cleaner program and I guess it was a crappy one because it must have deleted a whole bunch of important registry files. I had to reboot my system and got a message saying "ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted" so in my infinite wisdom and panicked state I ran the XP recovery disks that came with my laptop (see laptop details below). But for some odd reason it just installed another version of Windows XP. Anyways after some sleuthing I used the XP disk to copy over the "ntoskrnl.exe" to my HD and all seemed okay as my original version of XP booted up okay, but then I get a blue XP screen saying "AutoChk.exe file not found- skipping AUTOCHECK" and the system restarts
Ok, using this help website, http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how...air_a_stop.htm I am at the harder method, but encountered some problems.md tmp(nothing really happened not sure if anything was supposed to) copy c:windowssystem32configsystem c:window mpsystem.bak (copied fine) copy c:windowssystem32config software c:windowmpsoftware.bak (it says the file can not be copied). Do I go on with the rest of the tutorial, or where exactly do I go from here? Is there any possibility that I will not have to reformat and get my old computer back?
Error message(blue screen of death): "STOP: c0000218{registry file failure} the registry cannot load the hive(file): systemrootsystem32configsoftware or its log or alternate it is corrupt, absent, or not writable
beginning dump of physical memory physical memory dump complete. contact your system administator or technical support group for further assistance." I was told that windows needed to be rebooted. So I moved my hard drive to another comp and transfered all my memory onto an external hard drive so I could reboot windows. I found an xp cd and tried to reboot from ide cd-rom and it wouldnt work. i ran a diagnostics on my ide and this error came up "primary ide: 0 st380011a- fail code 7"
I'm gettting a blue screen when i try to start my laptop with Windows XP media. It's saying the registry cannot load the hive (file): /SystemRootSystem32ConfigSECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. I'm guessing I need the windows xp media reinstallation disk, but I can't seem to find it.
when my PC boots it up it goes to a black screen giving options such as safe mode etc. All of these options end up with the computer going to a bluescreen and the following message: STOP: c0000218 (Registry File Failure) The registry cannot load the hive (file): SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete. have no disks at all with laptop. And my knowldge goes as far as being able to use the internet.

I am running Win XP Mediaa Center Edition 2005 and have just received a message on the second boot up page saying: Windows cannot load because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM You may attempt to recover or repair this file using the original Windows CD
