Can't Find Rsoptcom.inf - Components In Controll Panel
Sep 28, 2005
I am using windows2000 and my son tried to install an XP program. Now I cannot get into my windows install/uninstall components in my control panel. I get a 0x2 at line 2086412116 error rsoptcom.inf cannot be found. Also, I noticed that my live update icon is missing from the Control Panel and my Norton didn't run on scheduele last night.
A few days ago when coming onto the desktop I would not be able to use RUN or get into the Control Panel. This does not happen all of the time, and to temporary fix the problem, I need to at least go with one, or more, reboots are needed. I checked in the Event Viewer and seen the error. I right-clicked and went to its properties. It states: "The SAVRTPEL service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." I clicked on the for more information link and below is what it has to say. How to correct this situation as clearly as you can state. COPY/FROM HELP & SUPPORT LINK
I HAVE WINDOWS 2000 i went to control panel to remove a program an my programs are there but when i click on the program i want to remove its not giving me a choice to remove it or nothing
I've done a lot of searching around, and have found that my problem has occured rarely, but never have I been able to find an answer. As you are well aware, several older computers have compatibility issues with SP2. Mine is one of them. However, it has SP2 installed. The solution is obviously to remove SP2. However, if I go through the normal means of doing this (Add/Remove Program under the Control Panel, or using the run command listed in Microsoft's website), I get this strange error:"Bosnian (Latin, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is selected as the language for standards and forms, or for non-Unicode programs. This language is not supported prior to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Please see readmesp.htm to select a different language."
I cannot get into this section because everytime i try, it says it cannot load the system information file "rsoptcom.inf". The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2086412116.
Running WinXProSP2. When I go to add/remove programs and click on the Windows components button, I get the error message: "Setup library MSDTCSTP.dll could not be loaded, or function 0cEntry could not be found. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x7e." I've searched a lot and the only references I can find are to Server 2003.
It seems that I can't find my control panel on my laptop, I'm trying to get rid of the windows security alert pop ups, and I can't find my control panel.
I cannot find the Accessibility Options in my Control Panel.I switched it in the Classic view where I can see the icons but there's nothin' there! Even in the accessories in the start menu...what can I do to find it? Or is there any way that I can install that option in my system? I'm using winxp pro service pack 2.
I am unable to access anything in my Control Panel, I am getting the error message: Windows cannot find 'C:WINDOWSsystem32rundll32.exe'. make sure you typed the name correctly?
Initially while on XP Home 1Service Pack I was able to cancel any task running shown in the Task Manager window (alt-ctrl-del). About three weeks ago I started getting "unable to terminate process" message when trying to cancel a SYSTEM task (i.e. javaw). This is still the case. I have since installed the SP2 on my PC.My logon is as an administrator and has been all along. I did not change any settings that could have caused this problem. Is there a setting that I am overlooking that controls this ability?
i have new laptop and it has Windows XP installed, I'd like to check the processor size, hard drive size, memory and other components to make sure I've got what I've paid for.
I've always used Windows 98SE in the past so could some kind person talk me through the procedure for XP.
It would also help if you could advise the main changes to watch out for using XP.
[FONT=Arial][SIZE=4] Have another good one... I'm trying to learn NetMeeting just for the hell of it. Ran across an interesting problem (NOTE: system description below) Went to add windows components in Win XP Pro... Selected those to be added, XP started looking for install files, but could not locate specific application and dll files. WinExplorer displays the correct file in the correct folder, but install program cannot seem to locate same. Tried to install from HDD as well as O/S CD. I have installed XP on 100+ computers and never seen this Where in hell is NetMeeting Can't find it in XP, and don't get much of any answer from Help and Support
I tried to add the "peer-to-peer" networking option in the "Add/Remove Windows Components" option of the "add or remove programs" program in the control panel, but it won't let me; first of all, when I scroll down to the "Networking" option under the add/remove windows components, it is checked and yet greyed out.So I click on "details" where it lists the components available to install, and check "on" the peer-to-peer option, but when it goes to install it, it returns with an error of "an extended error has occurred". Gosh, so descriptive.
When I open ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and then click on the ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS I get two error messages and nothing shows.Messages: Setup was unable to load the master information file. The application could not be initialized. I am running Windows XP Pro with all the updates and patches installed.
I went to "Control Panel", "Add or Remove Programs", "Add/Remove Windows Componets". Got a notice of "Windows XP Setup". Setup was unable to open information File 4. Contact your system Administrator. Specific Error Code is 0x2 at line 201184389. I am an Administrater and I am no help. I cannot add Windows Componets
In Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs in the Add/Remove Windows Components section I have a problem. When I click on Add/Remove Windows Components, instead of the box coming up which lists all your Windows components, mine goes immediately to the install dialog as if I had already clicked through. It runs as if installing new components - finishes in a few sections and thats it. I searched online for a similar problem and fix but didnt find anything. I wondering if anyone had this or knows a way to fix it so the normal Windows Components Dialog Box pops up when It should
A while back I removed the calculator and paint programs from my computer and I've been trying to figure out how to restore them for some time now. I have found out that I need to go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components, but when I go to add them again, I get a prompt asking for my Windows XP disc. The problem is, when I purchased this computer, it didnt come with the install disc, Windows XP was already pre-installed. is there any way to Add the Windows components without the original install disc
When trying to remove Windows Messenger, I made a mess of the Add/Remove Windows Components section of Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. Instructions are very confusing, as Windows tells you in order to add/remove the various components, either check or uncheck the box. Not knowing if I should check or uncheck, I tried both, and in the process removed numerous if not all the components.
I managed to get Internet Explorer and Outlook Express back. I honestly do not remember how I did this as I was in a panic state. Meanwhile, I lost MSPaint. And, I'm worried about the other components, like Indexing Service, Networking Services, etc. in order to reinstall components that may or may not be missing, do I simply CHECK the boxes, Accessories and Utilities is NOT checked. I'm assuming that's the reason for why MSPAINT disappeared.
I am completely unable to generate ANY interest in this, and am baffled as to why, so maybe I can get some help here. how to actually get XP to recognize the checkboxes. As far as I can tell, this is display only(?). I'm trying to get it to work and suspect it may have something to do with the modes line in each INF
I get the following message:"Setup library msgrocm.dll could not be loaded, or function OcEntry could not be found. Contact your system administrator. The specific error is 0x7f" I have Windows XP SP3, and I'm trying to install the ISS from the install cd

All of these have been successfully restored. However, I am unable to restore MSN Explorer, when i try i get a popup that says Quote: The file 'auupdate.exe' on (unknown) is needed i do not know where to find this, it is set to find it as default in c:windowsServicePackFiles but when i select ok then it says file is not located here. where do i locate this file
I have winxp and when I access the add/remove windows components it says that another copy of this setup program is running. Please wait until it is through. I have no idea what this means. There isn't anything running
I uninstaled some windows components and it turns out that I need them and have not been able to reinstall them. I have been trying to reinstall the advanced features in my sounds and audio devices. Since I removed that feature when I play a DVD no my computer the sound will not get very loud. I am having no problem with other videos just DVD's. But I have also tried reinstalling games and other features and they will not install either. When trying to install I use the Windows Installation CD and the installation seems to go fine. I don't get any error message, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I also tried the Add/Remove Programs feature in the control panel and got the same results.
When I try to add Fax Services as an XP Home SP 2 windows component in the add/remove control panel, I get a prompt for file fxsapi.dll. I can see the file in :WindowsService Pack Filesi386 but this setup routine says it can't find it even when I point it to it. After I hit retry many times I try the other solution it asks for- which is to insert the windows xp home service pack 2 CD-ROM. I do that and it says it can't find the file on the CD either. I've also tried removing MSN and it says it can't find certain files to remove MSN either. What is corrupted? Service Pack 2? I have 3 other XP computers and never had this problem before
I ourchased this E-machines from a pawn shop about 2 months ago. Its about 6 years old. It's using Windows XP Home. I've had steady problems since day 1. First, I cannot restore. It has no disc and Gateway will not let me buy a recovery disc, because the system is not in warranty. Second, I just bought a printer. I can't install the printer, because the Wizard keeps telling me the Print Spool isn't working. I can't turn it on. I go into MSconfig and it is checked, but it won't run.I also keep getting a window telling me some program is missing a dll. paretlogic/dll? I have no idea what the previous owner did to the thing and I can't even restore it to fix it. I've run a reg cleaner and that doesn't help either. What next? I just wanna use my printer.
In the add/remove window the fonts identifying, components, config-uration and add a program are gone. These are located on the left side of the window, the rest of the window does have fonts.
