I'm trying to access IIS on my XP and there is no option for it on the Windows Components page, I assumed IIS came with XP, is there another way to access it or can I send off for software?
View 6 RepliesI have been trying to make some family clips and found ou that windows XP brings Movie Maker. I have Windows XP Home eddition. I tried to look in the Accesories/Entertaiment/ folder for the Movie Maker, but it's not there. I went to add/remove windows components, but there is no option to add movie maker. I thought I did not have the software so I went to the xp windows microsoft downloads and look for the movie maker. I tried to down load the package that brings this software but it run and applation to check if I required the download, but it was already installed. So it looks like that it's already installed, but I don't know how to acces it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI uninstaled some windows components and it turns out that I need them and have not been able to reinstall them. I have been trying to reinstall the advanced features in my sounds and audio devices. Since I removed that feature when I play a DVD no my computer the sound will not get very loud. I am having no problem with other videos just DVD's. But I have also tried reinstalling games and other features and they will not install either.
When trying to install I use the Windows Installation CD and the installation seems to go fine. I don't get any error message, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I also tried the Add/Remove Programs feature in the control panel and got the same results.
Not sure if this is the right forum, does anyone know where there is a list of CLSIDs for windows components and what they correspond too? I have been looking but can't find anything but extensions and spyware.

I went into "Add/Delete Programs", and then "Add/Remove Windows components". I mis-interpretedd the prompts and ended up deleting everything except what I wanted to. When I tried to add the functions back it asks for my Windows CD. It's been a long time since I installed windows and I find that I can't locate the CD. I have the right win xp sp2 cd in running and it says it cant find a specific file its looking for, but then when i click browse i see that its there in the cd the exact file i double click it and it doesn't recognize it or something again what can i do about this?

I recently tried reinstalling windows 2000 thinking it would maybe help my computer. I ran the windows 2000 disk and chose the first option(the one where it doesnt clean out all my files). Now during "registering components" in the installation the loading bar seems to make no progress. I've left it on for a couple days now and it has shown no progress. I've tried restarting my comp but then it restarts the windows 2000 installation again and then the same problem
All of the accessories and utilities were somehow deleted from me computer, but when I go into the add/remove windows components wizard, it won't let me install them. It says "Please insert the Compact Disc labeled 'Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD' into your CD-ROM drive (D and then click OK". The only Windows XP CD I have only has Service Pack 1 on it and it doesn't work for this

Somehow I was messing with the shortcuts in my start menu and converted my theme to WINDOWS CLASSIC.
I went back to my DISPLAY/APPEARANCES settings and found that the WINDOWS XP theme option is now gone!
HELP! I feel like I'm trapped in Windows 95 right now. I actually liked the XP color/pattern scheme!
What can I do to get it back?
I was trying to remove windows messenger by going to control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove windows components I misread the directions for this windows XP setup box and made it so that only windows messenger had a checkmark because I thought this meant that only windows messenger would be modified removed unfortunately, this just meant windows messenger stayed the same and all the other components i had installed were removed. I know they are still on my computer since for accessories/games I can go to start -> run and type in something like "winmine" and minesweeper will open up, however if I go to the start menu and look in games it is empty

just start my PC and suddenly it was black after Windows XP logo screen and flashes BSOD. I did install a driver recently. Cannot enter safe mode as it stopped at /driver/JGOJO Cannot enter "from previous working setting" I can't boot up at all. The error code in the blue screen is Page Fault in Non Paged Area with code 0x00000050 something.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.

The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.
