I had to do a repair on my Windows XP Pro system. When finished I went to Microsoft to check for updates and had them download. When the system tried to install the updates it fails at the Windows Update Installer V3.1. All other updates will now not install. What is my course of action to remedy this problem?
i am new to computer and i have window xp professional .everything was ok and 2 months back my window installer got currupted and i am unable to instal any programmer.
I keep getting a windows installer popup window whenever I open ANY program. It says that The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the disk and click OK. There is nothing listed in Use Source. I cant tie it to anything I have done recently. I have Windows XP SP2.
Hi guys, my problem is what I thought was fairly straight forward. I recently bought an Officejet 6500. I loaded the disc to install drivers and the window is in Portuguese!I checked my regional language settings and it is in English. I even tried other discs to see whether that was the problem, it wasn't. This is the second disc I have received from HP and am unable to use the equipment due to this. I am running XP.
I have a Dell Dimension E510 running Windows XP Professional. It came with a trial version of Microsoft Office 2003. I don't want this program so I uninstalled it using the Add/Remove Programs. Once I did that, Microsoft Money wouldn't work and I was getting an error message everytime I started the computer - an error about missing a DLL. To correct this, I ran System Restore, which put back MS Office 2003, but the MS Money was now working and the DLL error message went away. The problem now....every time I open a new window, open a program or click on a new email message the Windows Installer window pops up with the message "preparing to install". If I click cancel, it takes a few seconds to cancel and everything is ok, or if I leave it alone, it hovers for about 20 or 30 seconds and goes away. It's extremely annoying.
I have no idea what is going on. I Have windows xp on my computer and now every time I open anything outlook, internet explorer, programs start menu etc this windows installer box pops up and says "preparing to install".
MS has downloaded an update Windows Installer 3.1 but it won't install.Where do I go for help? My system is XP SP2 with 1gig RAM, tons of HD space. I have run a Repair and SFC /Scannow.
I can't install windows installer from the Win update site. I get the Error Code: 0x80070005. I am trying to install 893803 (v2) as selected by win update. It will start installing then quit about 3/4s way through. I also get these messages...KB893 803 v2 Setup Access is denied. And KB893803 v2 setup installation did not complete.I have win xp home sp2. I recently reinstalled the OS and am trying to update it.
When java updates are ready to install, I click install, then it says "preparing to install", but never does. Eventually I get a "server not responding" I have done it many times. I am fixing to try to build a website for our horses, and didn't know if java would have any effect doing that or not. Any, I need to find out what is for security reasons if nothing else. I know there is a way to test the installer, but it is to technical for me to understand. I was hoing some one would have an idea where to start. It's a 3.1 (KB893803) what is it?
so i went to msn and did the verify ( windows genuine advantage ) verification just to see if she has done it so we passed the test ,Its valid so no problem there .this is a dell machine >Dimension 5000< only a few months old, 3 at tops . she doesnt even use the net much . its a machine for picture editing . any ideas why we cannot get the updates ..
also 1 time when i was on this machine surfing . this dell window poped up and showed something about updates , like it has over ridden Windows automatic updates . but i cannot find it anywhere on this machine

If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. I cannot view in full screen anymore.I created a website that lets a user enter their name and social # and then choose a test in 1 of 3 languages. Once you choose a language, a new browser window opens and the test/information is displayed in this new window.
Ever since I bought my laptop a couple of years ago I have had this annoying screen pop up every time the computer starts up entitled Avance AC '97 Audio Setup (4.70) Maintenance Complete..in the window itself it reads.... Installation wizard has finished performing maintenance operations on Avance AC'97.restart computer now or later
When i open any link with "open in new window" the new window is not full size screen window.Of course i dragged it by mouse many times and that should fix it later. It means it should be opened as it had been dragged, but that's never happened though i dragged it about a hundred time as a full screen size. What is the wrong here?
I just replaced my old Windows 2000 HD with a newly purchased HD and installed Windows XP Pro/SP2 with all the latest updates from MS.When opened this web page by placing cursor on the line and click, the Google page appears briefly on the myWin.doc window but immediately closes and opens a new, different size window for the Google web page. In the old Windows 2000, the Google page remains opened on the same window overlapping the myWin.doc window and no new window is opened.

After installing and running MSE I have been unable to update definitions either manually or automatically. At the same time I noticed that microsoft automatic updates are getting to around 28 percent and then stopping - not fully downloading or installing. I cannot get through to any microsoft websites now - but all other sites are fine. wuauserv and bits are missing from services also. Have I been sneakily virused by something which MSE hasnt picked up. I tried to run malicious software removal tool - it downloads alright but wont install - says its not a valid win32 application. I correctly downloaded the 32bit app. Can anyone shed some light on any of this. I dont want to rebuild again and again.

I recently formated and restored windows to how it was when I bought it. Everything was ok except for updating using the Windows Update feature. I have it on, but when I go to the updating windows its not doing anything. Its suposte to scan, but its not scanning since it takes forever. On my other computer, it works in seconds.
My computer has automatic update on it but it hasent been updateing lately so i went to windows update and found all the new updates for my computer and clicked "install New Updates" and it went to the download screen and said "Error Download Failure"
I would like to know how to uninstall an update that was performed by Windows Update. The update itself was in the "Hardware, Optional" Type list (ie. not the"High Priority"or the"Software,Optional" list)The update that was installed shows up in the History log correctly I believe that Microsoft incorrectly scanned the computer and assigned a hardware update that pertained to a different type of hardware ... specifically, the update pertained to an "IBM Thinkpad UltraNav Pointing Device" whereas the actual hardware is a Toshiba Satellite with a Synaptics Touchpad".
I have run live update and installed all updates OK except .NET Framework SP1.1 update. This will not install and there is no reason given why - it just says installation failed
Windows Update keeps trying to update Office 2003.I have a trial version of Office 2003 that came with my computer.I do not want it at this time, but I may want it at some point in the future.I don't know if it can be hidden from the Windows update but if not, I am not sure how to fully get rid of it. It has never been "installed."Windows update fails every time, of course, because it isn't now nor has it ever been installed. The biggest problem is that it keeps trying to apply the same updates over and over and over. It slows down the shutdown as it repeats the attempt(s) 3 times before each shutdown and also it keeps downloading the same and or other Windows Updates for Office 2003
I am using a Dell, Windows XP Professional laptop computer. It has a non- wireless connection to the internet via my LAN.Last week, the yellow update "shield" icon appeared in my systray and I updated Windows - the update was completed. Since then, the update shield icon has appeared in my systray four times. I installed the update each time, but it seems to have been the same update each time ("KB 967715"). If it is the same update each time, which it seems to be, why would the update "shield" appear in my systray four times within a week and a half to install the same update
I have a hp laptop with winxp pro media center Edition service pack 2. Windows update keeps redirecting me to mac update site any ideals why it would be doing this?
