Installer Update Not Installed
Jul 1, 2005MS has downloaded an update Windows Installer 3.1 but it won't install.Where do I go for help? My system is XP SP2 with 1gig RAM, tons of HD space. I have run a Repair and SFC /Scannow.

Window Update Installer V3.1
Dec 19, 2007I had to do a repair on my Windows XP Pro system. When finished I went to Microsoft to check for updates and had them download. When the system tried to install the updates it fails at the Windows Update Installer V3.1. All other updates will now not install. What is my course of action to remedy this problem?

Nov 27, 2005I can't install windows installer from the Win update site. I get the Error Code: 0x80070005. I am trying to install 893803 (v2) as selected by win update. It will start installing then quit about 3/4s way through. I also get these messages...KB893 803 v2 Setup Access is denied. And KB893803 v2 setup installation did not complete.I have win xp home sp2. I recently reinstalled the OS and am trying to update it.

What shall I do to uninstall it? The installer refers to the PHP for ISS ISAPI extensions. You can uninstall it from the �IIS Manager�, in the �Web Service Extensions� menu. Jul 3, 2005When java updates are ready to install, I click install,then it says "preparing to install", but never does. Eventually I get a "server not responding" I have done it many times. I am fixing to try to build a website for our horses, and didn't know if java would have any effect doing that or not. Any, I need to find out what is for security reasons if nothing else. I know there is a way to test the installer, but it is to technical for me to understand. I was hoing some one would have an idea where to start. It's a 3.1 (KB893803) what is it?

Oct 20, 2007the Windows Installer screen opens telling me it is trying to install a program that is already installed,(usually driver for HP 4110 printer drivers). If I don't cancel it immediately, eventually an error screen appears telling me the file I'm seeking is not available and to insert the installation CD. I've tried re-installing the drivers by inserting the CD, but then an error message appears saying the drivers are already installed. This is getting frustrating?

Nov 30, 2007For the last week or so I have had a notice that M$ would like to install Quote: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 I give it the "OK" and it looks like it is installing--- only to report that "The following update was not able to be installed" and it list the same one over again. I close it and five minutes later the notice is back again---- wants to install it again--- and again with the same results. My guess is that I would like to get rid of the file they have downloaded and let them try again--- seems like it might be defective download. I am running XP-SP2 with both .NET Framework 1.1 & 2.0 on the Add/Remove list

Dec 7, 2006I tried to update my Acer laptop and I get a message "files required to use windows update are no longer registered or installed on your computer" There is then a radio button filled in and a "proceed" buuton to download and register the files. It then churns a percentage thing fro 0 to 100% and then I end up on the normal download page which I was on before, I hit "express - recommended" and I get the message "files required.........." again. False Anti-Virus Warning Since Latest Update Installed
Aug 16, 2005My machine has suddenly started giving me an error on start-up. The little red shield appears in the system tray and a warning saying that my Norton Anti-virus software is not working and I am not protected. However after a short while this disappears.I think it has something to do with the order the initial TSRs etc. are loaded during the boot-up process, as once the Norton icon appears in the system tray the red shield disappears. Mar 4, 2010After installing and running MSE I have been unable to update definitions either manually or automatically. At the same time I noticed that microsoft automatic updates are getting to around 28 percent and then stopping - not fully downloading or installing. I cannot get through to any microsoft websites now - but all other sites are fine. wuauserv and bits are missing from services also. Have I been sneakily virused by something which MSE hasnt picked up. I tried to run malicious software removal tool - it downloads alright but wont install - says its not a valid win32 application. I correctly downloaded the 32bit app. Can anyone shed some light on any of this. I dont want to rebuild again and again.

It has a non- wireless connection to the internet via my LAN.Last week, the yellow update "shield" icon appeared in my systray and I updated Windows - the update was completed. Since then, the update shield icon has appeared in my systray four times. I installed the update each time, but it seems to have been the same update each time ("KB 967715"). If it is the same update each time, which it seems to be, why would the update "shield" appear in my systray four times within a week and a half to install the same update

in IE service pack 1, i clicked on the windows update on the tools tab on the menu bar. this loaded an empty page of the browser. this is the same when i click on windows update on the start menu -> all programs.
however when i click microsoft update, it takes me to the update page where i could download my service packs and 'express' and 'custom' installations. i traced the application which triggers the windows update and its from the system32 = wupdmgr.exe. i traced the application which triggers the microsoft update and its also from the system 32 = muweb.dll,LaunchMUSite. is the windows update now obsolete, unusable and just but a dead-end function. and is microsoft update now the site that replaces the what-used-to-be windows update?
