When java updates are ready to install, I click install, then it says "preparing to install", but never does. Eventually I get a "server not responding" I have done it many times. I am fixing to try to build a website for our horses, and didn't know if java would have any effect doing that or not. Any, I need to find out what is for security reasons if nothing else. I know there is a way to test the installer, but it is to technical for me to understand. I was hoing some one would have an idea where to start. It's a 3.1 (KB893803) what is it?
When shutting down my PC last night I got a DDE WINDOW SERVER NOT RESPONDING. END NOW message? I have never had it before and the only way I could shut down my PC was to end the task.
I have an HP computer that got a bug on it. I had to recover with my recovery disc. Before the bug I had Windows Installer Clean Up utility on my computer that I used, like when Adobe Reader screwed up and I couldn't download it again because of remnants of Adobe still on the computer that I couldn't get rid of. Now I have that problem with Java. After the recovery Java wouldn't work. So I deleted it in the Add/Delete. But there are remnants that won't delete. Now I can't find the Installer Cleanup utility. Can someone tell me where I could find "Windows Installer Clean Up" utility for Windows XP
Today I wanted to install new version of Java Runtime Environment but I have Windows Installer error: http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/2...sinstaller.png Where is a problem ?
I shut my computer off every night, sometime during the day if I'm not going to be on it for a few hours. A couple of times a week, upon shutdown, there is a DDE Server Window not responding error that stops shutdown until I tell it to "end program."
I installed the java 6 update 11 And when I sign into the program that is linked to it may computer restarts. Thought I had a virus so I completely reformatted drive and reinstalled windows(running xp home edition). When I uninstall the update the program works but is real slow.

I've updated java on a new install of xp.before installing java 6 update 6 I uninstalled what ever java could be uninstalled from add/remove programs. I've just been in there now and I find that I have both java 6 update 6 plus java 6 update 4.
I have window xp and i cant install the new java update it says something about it already being install but i remove basically everything. Related to java but one thing i still see is java auto updater 2.0.2.1 any advice thanks.
When opening my add/remove program files I noticed that every Java update for Java 6 is stored on the computer. IE Java 6 Update 1 still on the system and I have all the way through Update 6. To keep all of the updates on the system. They take up alot of hard drive space
I just got a notice from Win. Download Center, that I need: "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2". In AddRemove programs I already have "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1". Do I NEED both? They are both HUGE, 117Mb EACH.
I would like to update Java. I deleted Java 2 RunTime Env, SE v1.4. I delete Java(TM) 6 update 3 contained in ADD or Remove Programs, keep it or delete it? What Java do I keep as there still remains Java Control Panel in the Control Panel folder.

MS has downloaded an update Windows Installer 3.1 but it won't install.Where do I go for help? My system is XP SP2 with 1gig RAM, tons of HD space. I have run a Repair and SFC /Scannow.
I had to do a repair on my Windows XP Pro system. When finished I went to Microsoft to check for updates and had them download. When the system tried to install the updates it fails at the Windows Update Installer V3.1. All other updates will now not install. What is my course of action to remedy this problem?
I keep getting a pop up, bottom right asking me to click on a Java Update, and I will get Open Office Free. Should I? I am a bit nervous when I get such pop-ups, as to know what to do. And I dont really want nor NEED 'Open Office Free'. What is it? I already have microsoft office which is more than sufficient.
When I first downloaded initially no problem. Now I go to a webcam it says click to view then it shows only an advert then a grey screen and not the Java controls but java is installed and internet options marked correctly -any ideas of problem. I use xp 2002 service pack 2 internet explorer 6
I am trying to speed my XP. So I decided to check at ADD AND/OR REMOVE PROGRAMS folder for stuff I could throw away. And there were at least four versions of Java (TM) Updates 2, 3, 5, 7 each one averaging 114 MB. My question is: Can I delete Updates 2, 3 and 5 ? I don't know at all if each Java update is functioning based on the previous one. Can I live only with the last Update, the number 7 ? Or I am just sheltering a lot of space I need for other programs I would like to install.
I can't install windows installer from the Win update site. I get the Error Code: 0x80070005. I am trying to install 893803 (v2) as selected by win update. It will start installing then quit about 3/4s way through. I also get these messages...KB893 803 v2 Setup Access is denied. And KB893803 v2 setup installation did not complete.I have win xp home sp2. I recently reinstalled the OS and am trying to update it.
My computer runs Windows XP SP2.. I Know there was a recent update at the beginning of this week my computer automatically downloaded and installed. Since this update my Internet Explorer has been freezing, than a box pops up saying it's not repsonding and it automatically closes out. It does this after using it for less than a minute so it's rather annoyning. I've ran several malware/adware programs as well as my virus program (AVG).. what else can I do to fix this irritating problem?
I can't install JAVA on my computer. I get error 1722 from java. I have followed everything on the page regarding how to get around this problem but with no success. The log says (in Swedish):tgrd: patchjre, plats: C:ProgramDelade filerJavaUpdateBase Imagesjre1.6.0.b105patch-jre1.6.0_03.b05patchjre.exe, kommando: -s "C:ProgramJavajre1.6.0_03" (tgrd=action, plats=place, Delade filer=shared files) I really need java! I have tried so many things now and I really hope someone out there can help me.
I mark 'from device', click the '...' button & select 'File' in the dropdown, then brows to the file itself. Under 'select the backup sets to restore' I check the only checkbox there, then in the 'To Database' I select the name of the database in the file (a new DB name appears there as you select the file).
XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it
I am currently working on a project and I am in need of a way to run applications off of a central server from an XP client. The applications that need to be run are from the Microsoft Office package. This is for a school project, if more information is needed I can try to provide it
I recently replaced MSJVM with Sun Java. I want to ask if the Java Plug-in Control Panel 1.3.1_02 is supposed to be removed. In the Add/Remove programs
I'm looking at setting up windows 2003 terminal servers all over the place to replace the awful thing people are currently doing here - vncing servers with one small shared password among everyone <holding my hands over my ears for the backlash>. Don't blame me, it's another awful legacy I have to get rid of...
1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?
