Feb 6, 2006I made a mistake when I moved into a house that doesn’t have high speed Internet. I signed up for netzero to get me through the months that I will not have high speed. I installed their software then their software downloaded some more software that is still locking my computer up on occasion, even after I have uninstalled their software. It doesn't lock it up totally it just doesn't let me run any other programs and it doesn't let me log off (even through CTRL ALT DEL). It also runs a program in called ipconfig.exe that never seems to finish running

Oct 1, 2005i did a virus scan today and had to delete 5 files which are infected with something called Trojan. i cannt really remember all the file names, but im sure 2 of them called rundll32.exe and notepad.exe.now i cant open anything. whatever i click on, it will show up with a big error sign, saying cant find the perspective exe. eg. if i open explorer, it will say it cannt find explorer.exe.

Jul 9, 2005I have some software called "find it." The software indexes every word one types in microsoft word or excell. I have used it for many years in Windows 98 without problems, both in my home and at work. Recently my office updated the OS system from 98 to Windows XP2 Professional edition. The "Find it" program does not work with the Windows XP2. I have 2 laptops with Windows XP Home edition. "Find It" works fine in those laptops. TheWindowsXP search program is not as good as "Find It." Can anyone suggest how I might be able to get "Find It" to work with XP2 Professional Edition?

Jul 26, 2009I get up this morning and turn it on, it seems to boot okay, but after the Windows XP logo and the little blue loading bar it hangs at a black screen until after about five straight minutes I get fed up and power down. I tried booting in safe mode and that worked fine a minute ago, but now I am trying safe mode again and it hangs at a file called Mup.sys and will not proceed with the boot.

May 1, 2006When I right click a file to view it's properties there are two different values shown: one for file "size" and the other for "size on disk". The second value is always larger. Could someone please explain what the difference is because I'm in the process of allocating space for backed up user data on a network share and I need to multiply the average file size by the number of users to get an estimate of how much space to allocate to that share.

The drives doesn't show and I can't pick the C drive to format or see any other drive.I don't have anything listed. My box just says Unknown Disk (There is no disk in this drive.) Program Font Size Showing Very Small / Unable To Read?
Jan 7, 2008I turned it on and loaded up Simply Accounting.I noticed that the program window fonts were too small.I thought this had to be a simply accounting problem as i didn’t notice anything odd with my other Windows font in windows explorer.After doing some exploring i found that it was not only Simply Accounting, but other windows programs were affected as well.I looked in the typical windows appearance settings and saw that all was untouched.

Go to Contol Panel/System on the Advanced page, go to Perfomance and then Settings. Select "For best performance, do not set the initial size to less than the minimum recommended size under Total paging file size for all drives. The recommended size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system. Usually, you should leave the paging file at its recommended size, although you might increase its size if you routinely use programs that require a lot of memory". If you get this problem often, the answer may be to increase the settings in the virtual RAM settings manually and/or buy more RAM

May 3, 2008I just performed an ASR backup of my computer using NTBackup.ese and I have a strange problem that I haven't encountered before. According to Windows Explorer, there is 77 GB of data on my C: drive. However, the .bkf file created by the backup is 151 GB - almost twice the size. Now my external drive is full and I can't do any more backups. I've extensively explored my hard drive, including looking at System and Hidden files, but I am unable to explain this discrepency. Does anyone know what happened?

I changed (increaded) the Page File zise (Virtual Memory) on both drives and it corrupted the Registry. Now it does not even let me re-install winxp on that drive. Towards the end of the installation I get a message that it cannot copy certain files. The file names varies according to the SP version on the winxp pro cd.
Also, I lost the original OS disk from DELL.
Cannot Change Temp Internet File Cache Size?
Jul 25, 2005I can not change the size of the Internet Temp File cache. The slide bar moves, but the size of the file remains the same. No matter what size I select, 10, 15, or 20mb, the error message "Set size to 1 or 0" appears. If I set the size to 1, I get the same error msg. This is causing no end of problems with my e-mail. It takes upwards of 45 seconds to open each e-mail. And in most cases I can not go to any ref'ed URL mentioned in an e-mail.

They still do open with the windows pic program as I want them to - but only on the admin accout, I usually surf and play and do everything else with a user account, and even if I reset everything under folder options for the file associacions it somehow doesn't apply to the other account.
windows tells me in the file association menu that I changed the file association's properties and can set them back to standart "photo suite 6" - a program that I uninstalled ages ago

I went to save my drawings, but apparently accidentally saved the photo under the drawins name and then closed the program. This morning I discovered the bad news. Is there a way to get that drawing back? I do not know if it was ever saved before.
