I have been using my genuine (original) XP Pro (oem) CD to do repair & setup on multiple older PCs just to get them in shape and up to date. It was working fine & able to activate on the first few machines, but finally then, I got this message, after it finished running a setup, booting into the Welcome screen, "Windows Product Activation: (with a circled Red X) This copy must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to Activate Windows now? Yes or No" I keep clicking "yes" but the same message box keeps reappearing continuously. It would not go any further. What is wrong? Is because I use the same product key to run several repair setups on multiple machines in a short period or did I use it to register & activate from different IP address under different names?
I bought a new desktop, 3 yrs ago, with Windows XP Pro installed from the factory, and of course it was an OEM version, as usual. The com has a MSI Intel 848P Neo Mother board which I have changed 2 times before on warranty. Now I had to change it again, due to one PCI slot was dead. So far everything was ok.But, to activate the OS was now a "plenty big" problem.
Somehow the technician managed to do it at his own place. Suddenly, I was going to download a plug-in program to my Microsoft Publisher 2002, of course validation was required. No problem - I had done that several times during the last 3 yeras and everything has been ok. But not this time. Validation failed, Microsoft announced. "The Office XP Pro has to be activated, start any Office program, go to Help activate product" - No problem, easy job.
Alright I have a problem. I removed a bunch of spyware from this computer which included Aurora, WinFixer, Surf Side Kick, and many others. What happened was after rebooting into WindowsI was prompted to re-activate Windows even though I hadn't changed out any hardware. I thought this was rather strange. I went ahead and did an overlay of the operating system. Upon doing the overlay I was prompted to activate Windows, so I did. Upon getting into Windows I found out another culprit which was giving me problems, it was a directory within Program Files. I went into safe mode and deleted the directory. After that I restarted Windows and it kept rebooting after the Windows splash screen.

I went back to my computer and seen that the restore partition is still there can anyone tell me why I cannot get my restore working? Is there a way around this I mean is there another way to activate my restore?
Is it possible to activate quicklaunch on Windows XP through GPO or unattend.txt? If not, is there any other way to do this without editing the registry as explained in previous posts here?

When trying to activate my long time ago set-up guest account, I keep getting a pop-up saying that the user selection has been deactivated by "Client Services for NetWare" and that this should be de-installed before reactivating user selection. I do not remember installing it and can not find any files/programs leading to it
Ran the install program to repair my legal xp copy and now it needs to be authenticated using the actual coa key number attached to the machine correctly entered. The online authentication says it's invalid.

I just noticed my start menu is acting a way I've never seen before. Instead of automatically unfold as usual, I see a partial vue (only a few programs) and I have to click on an arrow to make it unfold completely. Is that supposed to be this way (because I'm using XP Pro SP2 for the first time and SP1 was different)? Is there a function you have to deactivate or activate?
Can anybody give me instructions on how to create a good bootable CD that will activate all necessary functions and contain all necessary programs when resetting up a pc. i.e I need a cd that will boot to DOS (command prompt) and give me access to format, fdisk, mouse, and load cd rom drivers etc.Ideally I would like it to work no matter what OS may still be resident on the HD.
While capturing video, it is in black and white, how do I activate the color enable box within the camera settings window? I have a Sony 8mm camera and the Angel MPEG Device for capturing the video. I have installed SP2 for Windows Movie Maker. I am a novice at this.

When to start it in safe mode and now it wont boot, I get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM It goes on to say to repair boot using the windows disk and select r.OK did that, now what? Dont know where to go from there.
I have a PC that has had Vista on it and am trying to install XP. I connected the drive to my other XP machine to back up some data from it and then used disk management to format it (NTFS). When I tried to install XP (SP2) from the CD it kept going to a blue screen. The blue screen says it has stopped windows due to a problem and give the stop code - *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0XF7CAE524, 0xC0000034, 0X0000000, 0X0000000)
I tried deleting the partition to see if the Windows disk would make it to the format but the same thing happened. It's a SATA drive that I am using.
Here's what's going on one of my computers (windows xp home professional I believe) I downloaded a pretty nasty virus by mistake and ran it (for some reason avg didnt detect it as a virus) well this virus may just of totaled my hard drive beyond repair I've researched on the web for people who have had it happen to them but found no easy answer. What happens is this:
1. I boot up computer 2. Computer gets all the way to loading bar 3. Quick Blue screen appears 4. BAM computer reboots endless cycle Now I've made myself a winxp recovery cd (never had one in the first place) and have tried various commands to bring my computer to a working state to no avail
chkdsk and chkdsk /r return with something like "the system has unrecoverable errors" bootcfg /rebuild returns with something about a problem with the file system and says to run chkdsk. I also tried a command to rebuild the boot.ini but it failed to. I have been successful at getting windows PE to run by booting to cd drive I tried chkdsk from there and still no good. Safe mode returns the same results btw so thats out of the question. ONE TIME I was able to start up windows in something like directory services mode but im not quite sure how :/ It just decided to show up on the menu with boot options on a try........
I've installed and ran the XP-Administrator.exe file I did this thinking that the program allowed for toggling off the appearance of Administrator at the Welcome screen;but I have not found any instructions how to do the toggling. Can someone tell me where/how I may toggle the appearance of the Administrator user at the Welcome screen ?
I've got some particularly nasty stuff on my system (running XP Home Edition), so I want to do a scan in Safe Mode. However, whenever I select safe mode, my screen tells me that the signal is out of range, and underneath that it says "35.5KHz / 87Hz". I have a Sony screen, in case that helps any. I looked around for solutions, but all I found were some fixes for when this happens on normal Windows, which involves going into Safe Mode. So no dice. I also tried VGA, but the picture is so horrible I have no idea what is on the screen.
