USB Adapter To Usb Adapter Ad Ho

Sort of XP and also ME. I have two usb wireless adapters and an ADSL router. Both of the computers have access to the router but i am trying to network them together without the router. One is a laptop with windows xp and a BT Voyager 1055 adapter: http://www.shop.bt.com/invt/cbw177The other is a desctop with windows ME and a belkin wireless adapter: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6766647.htm, I have created a network using the belkin supplied software called 'lan' using no encryption for the time being for ease of use. I have the picked up this network on the laptop and connected. I have assigned them both ip addresses that are alike except the last digit and have then gone 'run > command > ping (ip)' from each. They both get a response but i cannot access the documents folders.

Have a dell xps m140, running win xp pro service pack 3. Based on your knowledge of windows xp system files and there function, i was wondering if you would know appropriate files that will need to copy. The scenario is a s follows
Got infect by a virus, virus was removed by Kaspersky. After virus removal both the 10/100 NIC and the wireless adapter, and the bluetooth have indicated that they are disconnected. However from device manager they show up as working properly, which they are not as I cannot connect to the internet and there is a red X on all three icons in the system tray. I am wondering if a system file related to network connectivity was afftected and subsequently deleted by kaspersky

IDE to USB Adapter - need driver, I purchased a Vantec CB-IUSB20 so I could hookup a slave drive temporarily. However, I am unable to "see" the drive and the mini disk that they gave me only shows "card reader" drivers.I'm running it on a WinXP machine.I used it originally a month or so ago on another machine but no luck on this one, I've tried a Maxtor 30GB and a Seagate 200 GB.

I'm trying to connect from my desktop to my laptop using RDC. They are both on my home network. When I RDC into my laptop, I get the login screen as I expected, login, and I'm in.for about two seconds. After that, the connection hangs and eventually RDC drops me
When I log into the laptop itself, the wireless connection icon in the bottom right shows "acquireing network address" for a second, finds it, and then the laptop is on the network again. I'm assuming that when I do RDC into the laptop and the desktop takes over, the network adapter on the laptop thinks it's time to sleep or disable, and drops off the lan. I confirmed this by doing a ping fromthe desktop to the laptop. Before RDC, no problem. After the RDC connection hands, I can't ping the laptop anymore. Once I log into the laptop itself, I can ping the laptop from the desktop

I installed a wireless adapter, it worked for4 days , then XP gives an error that 'xpdoes not recognize the item connected to the usb and that it has malfunctioned. I replaced the wirless adapter 3 times and even went to another vendor and it still says that. It claims that there is no driver, but when I install the software it says the driver is there. IF I delete the unknown device, it puts a driver in but the unit will not even light up.
I ran a registry cleanup fromlinksys and it was suppose to get rid of all the drivers but it still does not work. I changedto Netgear and it does the same thing.

I recently purchased Madden 2005 for the pc, I have always used a PS2 controller with a adapter to use it on my pc, but now I am having problems configing it with my ps2 controller. My adapter came w/ just a driver no software. Is there any universal software that I could use that could possibly make it so I could revamp what keys are assigned to which button. If you buy a logitech controller, it comes w/ software to change which button is considered button "1" and "2" etc...Im looking for something like that, that you could use with this adapter, like I said something universal.

Iam using XP home edition sp2, and the driver on the disk is for use with xp. I have even downloaded the latest driver from the company home page .....but still got the same result.

Please redirect, if necessary to get my XP to installon a Rosewill RC200 IDE adapter.I'm not using RAID but the Rosewill RAID card which gets me past some bad IDE channels on the mainboard. The install is being done on old gear because I have not used XP before and am doing trial benchwork. The big problem seems to be XP finding the correct file and reading it from the Rosewill floppy disk. The file is called pnp680r.sys and the error message repeatedly says "cannot copy file etc."Previous installs using Win2000 Pro have read the necessary setup file easily. What I'm wondering is if there is some setup on the card and its BIOS/RAID set info for one drive ( a Western Digital 30G on NTFS) that I haven't completed properly and so XP cannot find the info read in by the floppy.

I'm writing this from my work computer, because I've totally messed up my Dell Dimension 8250 running XP Pro).I combined my dual OS computer into only one large partition and Fdisked(wiped out my OS(s) on my primary hard drive, in an attempt to reinstall on XP OS for my computer. To make a long story as short as I can, I removed(Fdisk) and "clean installed" my XP Pro OS from Dell's XP installation disk on my unpartitioned primary hard drive, But I can NOT connect to my ISP or the internet because I lost the driver CD and can't connect to the internet to download and install then.

Recently, I installed the latest NVIDIA display drivers. However, I didn't uninstall my previous drivers, and when i remembered that i have to, i did...but after i had installed the latest drivers. And that's when the problem seemed to start. I looked on the Add/Remove programs list to see if the latest drivers were there, but there was nothing there. I couldn't find them on the list anywhere. So I tried reinstalling them, and when they were being installed, i got a message saying: "Windows could not load the installer for display. Contact your hardware vendor for assitsance."

At some point recently her teenage boys took it upon themselves to install a 2nd hard drive that they found in another Emachines that no longer worked. Shortly thereafter the standby button became greyed out and that function no longer worked. Then we could not get the computer to recognize or install the printer. Due to these and other various problems that accumulated over time.

I cannot play games, and all rendereing is very slow. i have tried installing software from nvidia and the video card manufacturer. I have tried the add new hardware wizard, but nothing has worked. I have no idea what to do. I also took a graphics card from another computer and put it in mine and it did not show up either.

I'm trying to help my roommate get her laptop to access the Internet, but I can't figure it out.. Here are the hardware/software specs: Right now, the laptop either doesn't connect at all, or only very briefly. We've used both the Linksys networking software and the Windows one. However, it works fine when we don't have security setup, so I'm thinking it has something to do with this. We're using WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption. We don't want to have to leave our computers unsecured.

HP laptop will not shut down with the DWA-643 wireless adapter card inserted in the expresscard slot. Operating system is XP SP2 Media. Laptop will just reboot itself. Of course, if I hold the power button down the system will shut down or take the card out. I have tried the Microsoft methods to shutting a system down if the system will not shut down. I've tried two different cards and get the same result. Any ideas or patch to resolve? Also, I have updated to the current driver on the Dlink download site. Using Windows zero configuration. Upgraded to latest BIOS available.

Following overactive uninstallation of an ip filtering utility, my network adapter has stopped functioning. (Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller, XP pro sp1)
I strongly suspect serious registry damage, but none of the three highly rated registry utilities I have used have been able to fix the problem. In Device Manager -> properties, the message is : 'device not configured properly (code 1), reinstall the driver.' Attempting to reinstall the driver gives the following error message: 'An error occurred during installation of the device The system cannot find the file specified'.

I need to know how to change the name of a Network Adapter, specifically the Hamachi one. When going to Network Connections, under the Hamachi connection it states its Network Adapter name (also shown as this in Device Manager); Hamachi Network InterfaceI need to change Hamachi Network Interface to anything else, other than Hamachi Network Interface, Lets rename it to Local VPN.I have altared all instances of the name Hamachi Network Interface located in the registry (literally searched for it, and replaced all values and names that stated it with Local VPN instead of Hamachi Network Interface), I even changed all instances within the driver itself, reinstalled the driver, and it still would not altar the name to Local VPN.

I have recently acquired a Dell Studio 1555 laptop with the above configuration. My OS(and drivers) were partialy instaled by the seller. Now here is the problem. After I installed the network lan and wireless adapter(using the dell official drivers), I noticed that IE doesn't work. As I'm a Firefox person myself I just let it pass, but then I noticed that other things like the Java Runtime online installer, Yahoo messanger online installer, Blizzard downloader, Yahoo messanger itself(I got the full kit downloaded and installed it), don't work. The message is the similar on all of them: check if your firewall or your internet settings do not forbid access to X. Clearly, the firewall is off and the security settings are checked and shouldn't be a problem. So I got back to the internet explorer, thinking that all these are somehow related. I "used diagnostic tool" then "view log".

Had to reformat a drive and reinstall XP Pro on it, but upon reinstallation of XP it refuses to recognize the network adapter. It's been determined that the network adapter is a 3C920B-EMB Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller.Upon downloading drivers for this and attempts to install them, an error of "The device cannot start" occurs. On a separate install of XP on a seperate drive, the network adapter functions greatly. Is there a way to take the registry keys from the one install of XP and somehow...copy them over to the other install of XP? Or, is there a way to get the thing functioning without having to do that?

I am running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and using a wireless USB card to connect to my home network. The USB card is a Dick Smith Electronics (New Zealand) branded one which uses a Ralink RT73 chip
whenever I transfer files from this computer to another the copying starts, but doesn't get very far. The computer crashes shortly after starting with Stop: 0x0000001E "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". The file quoted causing problem is rt73.sys" which is the driver for the USB card. I have searched the internet and read microsoft tech support page about this error and I think the driver is sending requests which the processor cannot understand I have tried updating the driver, but this has not worked. I have tried the card on a Windows XP computer with the same driver, and it transfers files fine
