Built my pc i thought everything was fine but on checking in device manager i have found a problem with the usb root hub. There are 7 entries for the intel family universal host controller that have no problems. Below that there are 7 entries for usb root hub these have yellow exclamation marks and on checking properties it says driver may be corrupted or missing code 39. Have tried to update drivers but could not find any.

When I looked at the errors in the diagnostic tool it tells me I am using generic drivers. So I popped my driver disk in and installed them all but it still gave me the same error. So I reinstalled directx 9.0 with no fix. I understand that this thing is a beast and I should just stop using it but, it is the only pc I want to clutter up with old games and stuff. Then I had a system crash and had to re-install WindowsXP Pro. Now this external drive is not recognized. A drive icon is also not displayed in My Computer. In System Hwde Devices, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the (Maxtor 500-Gig) USB Mas Storage Device. I have made several attempts to uninstall this drive and re-install it but the same identical message appears each time: Mass Storage Device Not Recognized. I'm also getting a Code 39 error code informing me that the drivers for this device are either missing or corrupted. Some time ago I was told that I would have to uninstall and re-install Windows XP Pro if I wanted to correct this issue. Is this true?

Right before it starts to install the drivers, it says that some files need to be deleted and that I have to restart. So, I restart, and the installer comes back up, only to tell me to restart again. I got past this when I ran the installer in safe mode, but I was unable to start the Print Spooler to continue the setup.

When I checked the event viewer the last couple of times I had a crypt32 error right around the time the software froze. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me.
