System Reformat Failed

Nov 11, 2008

I have reformatted many times and took the same steps I always do, Ctl F11, agreed to erase and continue, etc. When I was told to continue, instead of my computer reformatting smoothly, I was given an error saying that it could not be completed and a black screen saying only that an error occured and to hit Ctl + Alt + Dlt, I was brought back to the same black screen asking to restart.

Trying To Reformat - Can't Find Operating System

Oct 1, 2010

I started to reformat an old laptop and made it through disc one of my recovery discs. I'm guessing one of my cats knocked the power cord out of the computer. The battery died before disc two could finish. Now when I turn it on it says it can't find the operating system. It was working perfectly fine prior to this, just really slow, and I can see the hard drive is still there through BIOS.

Reformat Hard Drive / Cant Do A System Restore

Jul 5, 2005

I have an 8 month old Dell xp system and have just caught something nasty. I cant do a sytem restore, dl/run any software tools, and its so slow that the system is pretty much useless. Dell says that they think it is spyware and they can fix me right up for just $49.95. I think I have everything I need backed up, so I was thinking about wiping my hard drive and starting over for free. Could someone walk me through it? Then, could someone point me in the right direction to keep this from happening again.

I want to reload XP PRO, clean the haed drive and give him a fresh start, yet it tells me that I have an earlier version and will not let me install it. It says to reboot and start using my XP Pro and it still does not work. I have checked the BIOS and everything is right in it, i.e boot from CD. I for the life of me cannot format this drive so I can reload a fresh copy of XP PRO and all the updates, and then some other programs. I am pulling my hair out over this. Will Not Go To Stand By? / System Standby Failed

Nov 18, 2006

I have windows xp installed on my computer, the home edition. packet 2, Anyway, I have been trying to get my computer to go to stand by but it keeps telling me. system standby failed, the device driver for the standar 101/102 key or microsoft natural ps/2 keyboard device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver. I tried to update the driver, but for this basic key board there is not a driver to update. It is the microsoft natural keyboard elite. Nothing special about this at all. Other than that my computer is about 5 years old and had windows 98 second edition on it, but would go into stand by then, but now that I have put XP on it, it will not go to stand by.

Repairing Operating System After Failed

I attempted to repair windows (XP Pro SP2) using the windows cd. Due to some bad memory the repair did not work. I got multiple unable to copy *.dll files notices. I've corrected the memory problem. Now when I go to repair Windows using the CD the previous installation is not recognized. I don't get the "Setup found an existing windows installation, would you like to repair it" (paraphrasing, don't remember exact wording).

Operating System Failed To Load Normally

Aug 10, 2005

PC is left on pretty much all the time. Whenever I have to restart it for whatever reason it restarts normally, loading XP relatively quickly. However, if I have to shut it down for even a few minutes, Windows will typically fail to load most of the time. Usually it will hang on the black screen with the white progress bar, or sometimes on the loading xp screen. At this point it will sometimes start up when I reset it, or it will show the "Windows failed to load normally" screen. If I then start in safemode then restart it usually works, or even if I choose "start windows normally". I'm not sure if this is a driver or hardware/bios issue, I have reformatted once, and restored the OS using my XP disk a couple of times but the problem persists. I keep most of my drivers up to date. Tools like Sandra don't report any major errors (from what I understand anyway). I have just ordered new RAM, as I thought this would sort the issue, but it hasnt. I have to run my memory at 100hz so it will boot without any problems . If I run my processor at 200fsb then the computer doesn't boot and it doesn't start.

I took screen shots through my print screen program and no problem to bring that program up. But when I go after them to put in Photobucket to post I get the 'Insufficient' message so I can't post them for you. It lets me do some things but not others?

How To Reformat My HD?

Sep 15, 2005

My pc has been under the influence of alot of aware and spyware in the recent weeks. It made sure that some software and internet applications have been working quite slower. By defragmentating my HD and installing the Windows Anti-Spyware Beta software my pc has been able to function like it used to be a couple of weeks ago. Still i have noticed that the pc isnt able to function like i was used to. To bring it back to its original standard, i think it would be better to reformat my HD and install the different anti-virus,spyware and adware programs. But first i need to reformat my HD, which isnt that simple at this moment. When i right-click on my HD icon and click on 'reformat', the PC eventually says that i'm not able to reformat, because there are other programs running at the moment. I do a quick check if that's the case, which in first notice is not correct. I do not have any other programs running, nor is there any other screen open what so ever.

Reformat Issues

Once I deleted the Windows 7 partitions and formatted the drive, the computer restarts to start the installation... Well sure enough I blue screen every time.

when i go back to 7 just to get the computer running. Here I don't blue screen but I get an error everytime during installation. Says something like it seams to be missing files or files are corrupt.

After some research about the BSOD,Sure enough it worked and XP installed. My issue now is...after I installed all the drivers and did the mandatory restart for them, now I get some other BSOD every time. Unfortunately, it's one of the quick ones where it just flashes and restarts.

RPC Unavailable After Reformat

May 28, 2008

I just recently reformatted my computer, using Windows XP Professional, and have been having a couple problems. As I try to install the drivers, InstallSheild Pops up and then goes to an error stating: RPC Server Unavailable I've tried researching how to fix this and I've found a thread with the exact same problematic tried going into services and starting the DCOM services. It is set to automatic, but will not start automatically. As I try to manually start, it comes up with another error saying "It was not possible to start the DCOM Server Process Launcher service in Local Computer. Error 1053: The service didn't respond to the requisition to start or control in time". After this, for some reason, I'm able to install whatever I was trying to before.

However, after I reboot my computer, I have to do this process again because the DCOM service is not started. I want to figure out how to get the DCOM service to always be on. I feel like it might be a problem with the win32 folder because when I click the properties of the DCOM service and go to the last tab, an error message comes up and says Win32: RPC Server Unavailable.
