Stumped Random Mouse Error?
Oct 21, 2009
i'm new to these forums. For the last week, i've been using an older HP Pavilon system, 933mhz with 512mb ram. My issue is this, Occasionally, when I turn on the machine, I can left click the background no problem, but if I try to click on the start menu, it's as if the left-click on my mouse doesn't work. I've found a remedy to this problem to be to alt-tab, even if no other programs are open at the time. If I alt-tab, i'm 99.9% of the time able to left click the menu bar. Now, this wouldn't be a major problem, however I have the same issue when I alt-tab through webpages, or if I alt-tab out of a computer game. Also, I play World of Warcraft, and every so often the same thing happens, however to anyone who may play the game- I am able to use the leftclick on the mainscreen, as in, to pan around my character, but if I attempt to open my bag slots, click on a monster or any of my skills, nothing happens. I've tried replacing my mouse, no good. I've tried differnt ram, same problem. I've tried a new hard drive, no good. I've FFR'd both hard drives, reinstalled windows from scratch, and STILL the problem is there. Does anyone have the slightest idea of what could be causing this?

I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.

there my computer has developed this problem of the mouse leaping around and randomly opening and closing programs. It has only been a problem in the last couple of months or so.Someone suggested I had a virus but virus checker has not revealed anything. I have just changed to macafee virus in case the free one was missing something and the problem appears worse now. This is the third time I've started this message.

We have 2 users both connected to a corporate 2003 AD Domain. One user has a printer shared out, but the other is always prompted for a password when trying to install it. The odd thing is, the username listed in the prompt is someone elses. Related problem...the user account referenced in the prompt is locked out everyday. Further research reveals there are bad logon attempts made throughout the day on this same PC, even when no one is using it. Very odd and probably a poor description. Please ask for clarification on anything that's not clear.

I recently tried reformatting my hard disk and reinstalling windows to do a "clean-up" and start anew. Upon reinstalling Windows, I tried to download and install SP2.
Once SP2 is installed, the first time this happened I received an error message that said "SP2 Instlalation failed - Systme is in a fragile state please go to Control Panel and uninstall" After that I tried reinstalling the service pack. After this, I received the blue screen of death after bootup, with a big message that I couldn't read (It was distorted by the monitor and only on screen for a little bit).

I've seen a few threads about this but they're all kind of different or whatnot. My computer (three times tonight alone!) has just randomly re-started while I'm in the middle of work. When it comes back, it tells me that the system just recovered from a series error. When I report it, I'm taken to a Microsoft page about Windows Service Pack 2 and updating my driver. I've checked and I have SP2 and when I try to update the driver it tells me they couldn't find a better match than what I'm already using.
I've checked System Information and automatic restart isn't even checked yet this has happened a lot. Like I said, three times tonight it's happened. I've run my virus scanner, I've run Ad-aware SE Personal, SpySweeper, and Spybot and anything that comes back and is quarantined or deleted hasn't fixed the problem.

"The system DLLuser32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occured because the DLL C:Windowssystem32HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying th DLL should be contacted for a new DLL".Can someone please explain to me what this means and how to get rid of it. I am a windows XP user. nothing seems to have changed in the way my cpu works but this error message concerns me and is going to get annoying. as soon as i click ok it goes away and doesn't come back again. i turned off my cpu and turned it on again but it happened again.

Trying to help my daughter with her computer. Every once in a while (sometime twice in a day, sometime not for several days in a row) she hears her computer rebooting. Even when she has nothing open and not even using it - just a desktop open. Created a system restore point before started all this. The computer reboots and gives the following error message: "The System has recovered from a serious error", then she can click Send to Microsoft, or don't send. She clicks don't send and everything words just fine, her applications run fine, email and Internet work fine. This doesn't happen very often, but something is not right. Not much to gone on but that's all that happens. The computer is nice and fast, boots up fast, everything runs nice and fast. Internet and email work fine. This started a few months ago and she can't remember doing anything that would cause it to start. She has not installed any software or hardware in over a year or so. I did a complete backup right away so her files are backed up and safe.
Thought it sounded like a heat issue so I opened the case and she had it very, very clean. Fan and heatsink very clean and fan working fine as well as the other fan in the case. I checked the hard drive cables (SATA 250 gig HD) and they were nice and tight. Reseated the memory modules just in case one crept lose. check CD/DVD drive cable and it was tight. Cleaned out her temporary Internet (cache) files.Next, I clicked on My Computer then highlighted the C: drive and right clicked the C: drive and selected Properties. Then selected Tools and was going to select Defrag button but it was greyed out and said "No defragment tool is installed. I then opened the Control Panel and click the Add/Remove programs icon and once that opened I selected the Open Windows Components and it opened fine, but I couldn't find anywhere in there to install the Windows Defragment program. Am I looking in the right place for this?

When the PC restarts it generates and sends an error report, which indicates a Graphics Device driver is the problem. My PC behaved ok until about a month ago, when it started crashing, in general with an error report saying 'Error caused by Graphics driver'.The system gradualy got more unstable until it would not boot properly at all.I have recently re-installed windows and upgraded to SP2.After this re-installation, the problem started again.

I'm attempting to help a friend who is not very computer capable. She has Win XP Pro, SP 2, and I believe IE 6. She has been getting a bunch of error messages (IE has encountered a problem and must close). I don't have access to her comp, but wondered if anyone knew of a possible reason. I suggested that she d/l IE 7, however, everytime she tried, she got the same message and was kicked to the "send/don't send" box for the Microsoft "problem" reporting and then to desktop.

I'm getting random blue screen crashes, sometimes my system runs for hours, other times it crashes repeatedly and takes multiple attempts to boot. (Sometimes after crash won't boot or load windows and there is a black screen and I have to turn the power on/off a couple times and it will boot after a few tries.) Also tried updating bios but can't figure out how since I don't have a floppy anymore. I've read that this could be memory/hardware or driver issue, but can't figure out how to get to the root of the problem or fix anything. I'd like to be able to fix this without reformatting my main drive.

Built my computer about 1 1/2 months ago, have been having various random reboots at times when I seem to be running a lot of stuff. Most notably crashes during memory intensive games. I sent for replacement ram, even though memtest gave me no errors after 7 passes. I had an Audigy 2 that was in one of the PCI slots, but I removed it and uninstalled all the drivers and apps. I also uninstalled my video drivers, deleted, and reinstalled to updated drivers. Some Errors picked from Event Viewer: (occured last night while playing World of Warcraft)

I looked for this but found nothing. My mouse goes way off the side of the screen and when I take a screenshot there is extra space, almost like my vid card is set up for wide screen, but its not. I already have the newest drivers installed for my nvidia gfx 5500 and it is set to only one monitor. it also detects the cureent monitor and i think it should know its not a wide-screen. please help, this is really annoying. heres the screenshot, i can only see the main part of windows and not the extra part on the right.

I lose usage of my mouse when I reboot my Windows XP Home Edition SP3 after the following actions:
1. registry clean up with Cleaner
2. disabling of one or more unncessary service(s) from within services.msc
I also noticed that when I reboot one more time the mouse issue goes away, but it reappears at the next reboot and so on (it appears every two reboots...).Each time I have been able to reverse changes OK by coming back to the System Restore point I had created before the changes.

I am using the classic folder settings in XP and IE 6, single click to select, double to open, but even though I haven't changed that setting, folders are often, but not always, opening with a single click.
The problem comes when I am trying to select multiple folders for copying, using the control key. I can usually get 2 or 3 folders selected, and then it opens each one of the folders. All I want to do is select them, not open them I can only guess that somehow IE is reverting to the single click to open setting.I didn't have this problem when I started today, and all I've done is copy folders, burn to cd, then delete the folder and run Window Washer periodically.

I keep getting random crashes and I don't know how to go about diagnosing the problem. Every so often I get random STOP error messages, and from the articles on the Microsoft Support site it appears to be a driver problem, but I don't know which driver. My computer randomly receives this error, and this link here http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;827663 is what I think I have been receiving. It said this problem should be resolved by updating to SP2. Well I have SP2 and I still am receiving this problem. Could there be any other possible problem that could be interferring here.

using windows xp media edition. when I click on things on my screen my computor sometimes works ok but sometimes doulbe clicks or triple clicks and sometimes clicks up to five times by itself I don't understand why this happens. Is it possible I have some type of virus that is causing this multi-clicking of the mouse when I only click once. I did a full system scan with Norton and nothing is found.

I just got a new computer, and it's all used parts, except the hard drive. Since I've been using it, there has been odd bits of lag at random times. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, it will lag. It happens every few minutes or so for about a second, then everything works again. When I'm listening to music, or watching videos, it will skip horribly for a second, then resume playing. It's REALLY getting on my nerves, cause I record music, and its messing up my tracks. Even as I type this, its lagging... More frequently than before, actually. Any idea of what it could be?

So today, I jumped on my computer, opened up IE Explorer, and went to Facebook. While facebook was loading, my computer seemed to have froze for roughly ten seconds. I figured it was just a random hang up so I ignored it. Unfortunately, about 45 seconds later, it did it again, and it continued to do so, even now while I am typing. I was browsing through the forums and I noticed a few people had the same problem as me, so I tried disabling the Search Indexer. I restarted my computer, and it seemed to have done the trick, but maybe 3 minutes later, it started freezing again.
