My computer randomly receives this error, and this link here http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;827663 is what I think I have been receiving. It said this problem should be resolved by updating to SP2. Well I have SP2 and I still am receiving this problem. Could there be any other possible problem that could be interferring here.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter buying and installing the new hardware i'm now having some issues. Everything was fine for weeks but now sometimes i get an error message. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Everything starts up as per normal but once it comes to the Windows screens (desktop) i get a blue screen with the error message: So i pretty much need to restart the pc and it goes back to normal. All hardware and software has been checked time and time again. All seems to be ok. Bar the dvd drive. The dvd drive doesn't let me access it, however if i put a dvd, audio or data cd in then autoplay takes over and asks if i want to play it or whatever. But if i want to open it by double clicking or selecting open after right-clicking then it doesn't allow it. I get the error message: d: not accssible. Incorrect function.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm costantly having BSoDs after startup with stop code: 0x0000008e {0x00000005, 0x00000000, 0xEC39AB84, 0X00000000} My OS is WinXP SP2, 1Gig ram with plenty of free HDD space the crash happens when wuauclt.exe process is called after login I booted on safe mode and renamed wuauclt.exe to something else and BSoDs stoped, so it is indeed triggering the crash.
I'm getting random blue screen crashes, sometimes my system runs for hours, other times it crashes repeatedly and takes multiple attempts to boot. (Sometimes after crash won't boot or load windows and there is a black screen and I have to turn the power on/off a couple times and it will boot after a few tries.) Also tried updating bios but can't figure out how since I don't have a floppy anymore. I've read that this could be memory/hardware or driver issue, but can't figure out how to get to the root of the problem or fix anything. I'd like to be able to fix this without reformatting my main drive.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMan, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.
i had XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.

I downloaded Memtest and ran that many times over long periods, but it did not find errors with my RAM (or at least what it could test). Reading that it could be something in the registry that is no longer valid or corrupted, I downloaded CCleaner, ran it, and fixed the errors. Still no resolution to the problem. I have scanned for viruses and malware using Symantic Antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and SUPER Antispyware, but it found nothing out of the ordinary. I am not sure if my registry is corrupted or perhaps the RAM on my video card is at fault, but the laptop starts up fine in Safe Mode and works well (making me think it is not the video/graphics card). I would like to know what I could do to fix my problem short of wiping out my system and reinstalling the operating system.
I have a computer running XP Pro (recently updated from 2000) and I leave it on at night. I wake up every morning to the log in screen. When I run ccleaner, I noticed there is a big file called memory dump. I researched and got confused, but found one suggestion that said to make that file size smaller.
It happened again today and I am not sure what to do to fix it. It happened once when I was at my desk and I only caught "STOP: 0x0000008E" and then something about beginning of physical memory dump.

Shortly there after, I started blue screening and it seemed RAM related, so I swapped the sticks and it seemed I would only BSOD with one of the sticks, so I called the company, shipped it back, and got a new stick.
Then I started to BSOD again with the error message of IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL and then 0x0000000A (0x0000F78A, 0x0000002, 0x0000001, 0x806E4A8F), and this particular error would only occur while I was playing World of Warcraft. So first I pulled the new stick of RAM and tried playing... and everything went fine for a day, and then I BSOD'd again, same error
Im am getting STOP - c0000218 Registry file falure the registry cannon load the hive. systemroot/system32/config/security or its log or alternative. It is corrupt, absent , or not writeable. but whatever I do it I end up with the blue page with the eror message on it. I went into the bios setings and made sure that it could be bootable with cd but all in vain.

I returned to my computer earlier today and noticed it was a bit sluggish and out of the ordinary. I restart it thinking this will fix the problems, only to find out that its having problems booting up Windows XP. It gets to the window boot up screen and would get a quick flash of a Windows error message(blue screen with yellow text) and would restart and continue this process with no end. I attempted to boot-up from Safe-mode and last windows configuration, yet the problem continued. I decided to bite the bullet and reformat. Here entails my actual problem, I delete the partition and attempted to reformat. Well it begins as it normally would, however it freezes everytime at 1%. I have tried another HDD sadly, I don't think that one has ever worked. It gets power fine, mobo is working correctly. Yet, it could be several things I could've fried my HDD, CPU, RAM any number of things. Yet it dosent seem very possible as I have heat sinks on the RAM and decent cooling in my computer.

I just build a new comp a couple of weeks ago and i been getting a BSOD occasionally, so far it only happens when playing C&C 3. The error message is Driver IRQL Not less or equal in wind502u.sys. Error code 100000d1 under event viewer.I use a crappy motorolla wireless USB adapter which does give me problems sometimes. Basically, when I start my computer i can go online for 1 minute, then it disconnects. inorder to reconnect i have to unplug and replug in the adapter, then it starts to try to connect to the network.
View 4 Replies View Related2 SATA Raid hard drives with striping.I'm having problems installing Windows XP Pro on my machine. When we first started to install the OS on the machine, I kept getting a blue screen error message before it boots into setup saying ERROR 0X0000007B. And then after that it started showing up book disk failure. Instead of SATA we tried just one EIDE HD, we switched memory, new cables, new powersupply, we switched the vcard. And just recently we finally switched the Motherboard. Now when we boot off disc we get an error message saying "boot disk failure". So we ran a boot setup windows xp floppy. It gets all the way to where it asks for "please insert windows xp installation cd" and when I do it doesnt recognize it but I hear the CD spinning. We've switched out the CD-roms with 2 different ones and still can't get any progress.

When I try to go on the internet I get directed to a Yahoo search of whatever I entered into the address bar... and any links clicked bring me to random pages. View 10 Replies View RelatedTrying to help my daughter with her computer. Every once in a while (sometime twice in a day, sometime not for several days in a row) she hears her computer rebooting. Even when she has nothing open and not even using it - just a desktop open. Created a system restore point before started all this. The computer reboots and gives the following error message: "The System has recovered from a serious error", then she can click Send to Microsoft, or don't send. She clicks don't send and everything words just fine, her applications run fine, email and Internet work fine. This doesn't happen very often, but something is not right. Not much to gone on but that's all that happens.The computer is nice and fast, boots up fast, everything runs nice and fast. Internet and email work fine.This started a few months ago and she can't remember doing anything that would cause it to start. She has not installed any software or hardware in over a year or so. I did a complete backup right away so her files are backed up and safe.
Thought it sounded like a heat issue so I opened the case and she had it very, very clean. Fan and heatsink very clean and fan working fine as well as the other fan in the case. I checked the hard drive cables (SATA 250 gig HD) and they were nice and tight. Reseated the memory modules just in case one crept lose. check CD/DVD drive cable and it was tight. Cleaned out her temporary Internet (cache) files.Next, I clicked on My Computer then highlighted the C: drive and right clicked the C: drive and selected Properties. Then selected Tools and was going to select Defrag button but it was greyed out and said "No defragment tool is installed. I then opened the Control Panel and click the Add/Remove programs icon and once that opened I selected the Open Windows Components and it opened fine, but I couldn't find anywhere in there to install the Windows Defragment program. Am I looking in the right place for this?
Over the last couple of weeks I've been getting a blue screen crash every day or so. It restarted the computer pretty quickly and i had very little time to read it. This is not following any hardware or new driver installation; the only software I have installed recently is Bloodshed Dev C++.I had a hard drive failure on this same laptop about 6 months ago; since then I installed a new hard drive, reinstalled XP Pro, all drivers and programs, and it has run without a hitch since then for the duration of the last 6 months...until today.I disabled automatic restarts and the blue screen error It looks to me like a driver error, but I have not updated or installed any new drivers or devices recently. I was hoping to avoid reinstallation of all drivers- could any of you point me towards a more specific fix? I'm not aware of what "w22n51.sys" is for, or the most obvious source for repair.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI will try to be as specific about my problem in general.I am using a Compaq laptop, using Windows XP. I don't know much more than that, but I can search for additional information regarding specs and stuff.It all started one day when I was browsing the internet using the latest version of Firefox. I turned up my volume and the blue screen of death appeared (advising me to seek tech support of sorts).I restarted, and yet again touching the volume yielded the blue screen of death. I tried several, possibly 6 times, and the only thing causing the blue screen of death is altering the volume in any way, including touching the volume buttons, adjusting volume in the volume control and adjusting the wave settings in volume control.
So I ran Spyware Doctor. I do pay the full 40 bucks a year for this wonderful program, and it detected a bunch of freaky looking things. Like adaware, something called virtumonde, and all these high threat viruses and adware, but it wiped them clean. I ran it again, it found 3 more standard viruses that it didn't name, cleaned them, ran SWD again and nothing appeared, so I assume now my computer is free from whatever was messing with me.The volume problem still persists though, and also at random times the blue screen of death will appear (I'm praying now it won't as I type all this or I'll cry).Then another problem occurred. When I try to open a file of sorts, that pesky message appears- windows explorer has an error of some sort, do you want to close it or ignore it?or something to that extent, so I can't view any sort of files now. I am running the computer in safe mode (which still exhibits the risk of a blue screen attack, but I can view the folders properly). Somethings up, what can I do to fix this? Any suggestions? I will try to answer any thing I might have left out.
