I'm costantly having BSoDs after startup with stop code: 0x0000008e {0x00000005, 0x00000000, 0xEC39AB84, 0X00000000} My OS is WinXP SP2, 1Gig ram with plenty of free HDD space the crash happens when wuauclt.exe process is called after login I booted on safe mode and renamed wuauclt.exe to something else and BSoDs stoped, so it is indeed triggering the crash.
The Technical Information is this: *** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF2F22A50, 0x00000000) I'm getting tired of this happening every day.

It said this problem should be resolved by updating to SP2. Well I have SP2 and I still am receiving this problem. Could there be any other possible problem that could be interferring here.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer running XP Pro (recently updated from 2000) and I leave it on at night. I wake up every morning to the log in screen. When I run ccleaner, I noticed there is a big file called memory dump. I researched and got confused, but found one suggestion that said to make that file size smaller.
It happened again today and I am not sure what to do to fix it. It happened once when I was at my desk and I only caught "STOP: 0x0000008E" and then something about beginning of physical memory dump.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI built a pc back in Apr 2005 and it has been a nightmare from the 1st day. Ive reformatted twice only to encounter the same problems. BLUE SCREEN CRASHES AND STOP ERRORS. This occurs during every single task I attempt. I am not even able to run a virus scan without it crashing. There are a few yellow ?? in the system device menu box thingy but the drivers wont install. It seems that every blue screen crash has a different code and always end with system dump.
I was able to use ad-aware SE to remove the spyware garbage but it didnt help. I did a chkdsk /f and there were many, many bad sectors on the hard drive a majority of them are system32/dll (upside down LL) Cache dll (again upside down LL)files, I ran the scan several times and each time many many bad sectors were found from what I can tell new bad sectors with each scan. What does this mean.
No matter what program I try to use about 5 minutes into it the pc will blue screen crash. It doesnt matter what its is looking at the system device manager, trying to update drivers. I everything I do CRASHES.I cant even get my important data off of the pc & onto a cd without it crashing. I dont know what to do. I can download something on a different pc test to ensure its working right then put it on this pc and I get a message saying that some file is corrupt or it will crash. It doesnt matter what it is a few minutes into it the system crashes. Even when try to run software of the mobo cd still crashes I tested the memory and 1 test program says it passed and another test program says it failed.
I recently got the computer listed into my signature, and I am having problems. I pretty much get an error every five minutes, then when ever I am doing like messenger and browsing at the same time. It gives me the usual blue screen with white text, saying an error, I have found mostly that it is one of three errors that usually happen. I am getting so angry, as I NO JOKE in the last hour, have had 37 errors.

However, the main problem is when I am running Adobe Encore DVD - that program runs for a long while. Everytime it crashes (I mean win XP crashes with a blue screen). I have searched web and found that I should try to do the following: to change DisablePagingExecutive value from 0 to 1. I have done it, and tried to run Encore. I have to finish the DVD REALLY SOON and I can't create the image. Well, the blue screen crashes were sporadic a few weeks ago, but this comp crashed 3 times today The most common errors are "Driver irql not less or equal" and "Page fault in nonpaged area" The things I've tried: -a system restore to last month -reinstalled windows -checked device manager for exclamation marks -a friend said it could be bad memory, so i swapped a spare 512mb stick with another of the same brand. ( 512mb x 2 in dual channel), it still crashed afterward. However i could have swapped out the wrong stick so i'll try the other

These would pop up at completely random intervals (although it seemed to be more often when I loaded intensive pages). They would take the guise of problems that are all attributed to many things. mshtml.dll, ntdll.dll, wininet.dll, and a few other .dll files have been the error causing agents in the "more info" on the error popup. I have also had many blue screen errors such as bad pool caller, irql not less or equal, and page fault in_nonpaged area, to name a few
When I started getting these errors, I tried to look them up, but I found several different reasons for errors. Many errors had different problems such as various installed components, leading my to believe that it was a RAM error. I bought a PNY stick at BB and swapped it. Still got the errors. I then returned the PNY stick and bought an ULTRA X-Connect PSU. I tested it again, and I still got the same errors. Then, a new devvelopment occurred. I tried doing a repair install, but it errored halfway through, saying that a certain file could not be copied
After installing some recent updates from microsoft my computer restarts on it's own. After I disabled the automatic restart on failure feature I noticed the 0x0000008e error. The computer does this on every reboot. I have to restore the computer to before the updates are installed and then it works perfect. I am not about to be charged 35 bucks for a phone call if they are not going to help me. This error only happens after the latest updates. I'm about 20 security updates behind now and I can't update with out the error. Someone please help, I do not want to do a wipe and reload if I'm not sure it is going to fix it. My computer is free of viruses, spyware, malware trojans etc.

I understand that this is a widows update client running process, but I have 18 of them running in my task manager!!!I can't browse the Internet or open applications (MS Word, Windows Media Player, etc.)and I can't access its files on my network. It tries to run the app when you select it, but then itquickly goes away. Seems like over time the wuauclt's keep adding on in the task manager, like it's trying to update but can't.All my computer can really do is open task manager and get into control panel.

I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

run virus and spyware and nothing, I have deleted the file that seems to be causing the problem, but it always comes back on restart.
Upon start-up, and after selecting a user..usually Christine, my wife [there are 4 users set-up] at the desktop screen I immediately get a pop-up error box that reads WUAUCLT.exe encountered an error and needs to close. It also goes on to read...if you want to send this message to Microsoft click this and then, of course, there is the Don't Send option as well. I usually click the don't send option....10 seconds later the box pops back up...I went to Task Mgr a few times and saw it [wuauclt.exe] running in Processes and was able to stop it from running. However, it is not always in Task Mgr to stop!

beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
I have an old - 6 yrs old (no-name) PC running Windows Xp (upgraded from 98). Recently I had to erase and reload everything on my computer - including XP - so now I only have some basic programs from established vendors (MSFT office, Norton, Adobe and SBC yahoo DSL). Since I did all of this, now while I am on the internet, my computer will all of a sudden freeze and the screen will become one color (not the typical blue screen but usually the background color of the page I was just viewing) with some vertical lines. At this point nothing works, so I have to reboot the computer.

I get a blank blue screen and hear a competitive "thumping" sound. The only way I can continue from there is to hard boot. I have more than enough memory and processor speed to handle the games I play.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBoth svchost.exe + wuauclt.exe's memory usage occassionally increases rapidly even if my laptop is idle. I have to terminate wuauclt.exe manually (through End Process in Task Manager) in order for the 'Commit Charge' to return to late 300/early 400M figures. If my 'Commit Charge' is 5XXM or above, if I plug any USB devices Windows XP won't recognise them. I have to terminate memory consuming programs (e.g. Firefox), restoring the Commit Charge to 4XXM, then Windows XP will recognised any USB devices I plug in. However, if I plug any USB devices right at the beginning when I turn on the laptop, I won't encounter any problems. Why is this?
