Spyware Infection Can't Be Cleaned - Receiving Popup
Jun 26, 2006
I have an infection that I haven't been able to rid on my own. I am receiving popups on the lower right claiming to be from the Windows Security Center with titles like:
Alert! You are receiving Spyware!
Warning! Your security and privacy are at risk!
The window has the name "Project1" in the task manager, and it has overridden my ability to end processes in the task manager.
I had a trojan Virus in the computer. I think that I got rid of it, but I am not sure could anyone that can read a log please tell me if there is anything else left in the computer. The computer now doesn't stay on-line it disconnects itself. I called the company that provides me with my internet service, and they said that I need a filter for the phone line. The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. I wasn't able to get on-line for at least a week, I had gone and checked the disk for errors and finally the anti-virus program was able to find the virus's.
I need help i have tried everything to get rid of this blue wallpaper on windows XP. The background is blue with a black rectangle in the center that says SPYWARE DETECTION your system is infected with spyware etc. and then the address of my homepage is C:secure32.html and i had spy sherriff at one time but i successfully deleted it. Ive run McAffe, AntiSpyware, and Ad-Aware and none have gotten rid of it.
I believe I got rid of paytime.exe and secure32. However, I still have that desktop, and i cant change it. Also when I start my Internet explorer It used to give a link to spy sherrif, now it just doesnt do anything. I've tried everything I could. I dont know what to do
I am trying to fix my mother in laws computer for her. She had lost her Task Manager, which I have restored, and she has the Spyware Black notice on her desktop that I just can't get rid of. I tried a variety of fixes I have found. But so far, none have worked.
My Dell Latitude Laptop 400Mhz 128MB ram 100GB HD has been really slow ever sence a spyware infection (witch has been cleaned). Windows 2000 takes 2 minutes just to get pass Preparing Network Connections on startup and once windows is started it can take a long time to start up programs.
I was online with yahoo messenger and I tried to go to a site and realized that my homepage addy had been changed, I figured spyware. I didn't think much about it until my wallpaper changed to something that appears to be an ad for spyware removal software with a "hotlink". I signed off and tried to run my spyware program and got an error message that it could not be loaded. I then tried to run my virus program, same thing. I then tried to get online to make sure my virus program was updated, same thing. It has also did this with several other programs as well as not allowing me to reset my computer to an earlier date (system recovery) nor will it allow me to get rid of the spyware ad wallpaper.
Ok i just got this nasty infection with one then mone spyware.I'm not sure what they all where but i know one was command.exe and one was Surf Asistant or something like that,I've used the folowing on it and cleaned up everything but this one .dll file that shows up in my HJT log and is still causeing my web browser to be redirected every 1-3 mins.I've tryed the folowing programs to get red of it,
I forgot to turn my computer off last night at work and I came back to it this morning with a blue screen that says "Spyware Infection", so I ran Ad-aware and Microsoft Antispyware and between the both of them they caught lots of spyware. I've deleted them but the blue screen is still there. Another thing, when I click on IE shortcut I'm brought to a blue screen telling me that "my information is vulnerable..." and I have three links at the bottom of the screen and they all take me to the same website: spysheriff.com. I found a txt document in my local folder with spysheriff's site on it.
Got that lame "Spyware Infection" background, and y'know, I'm one of those people who won't really fix anything unless it causes a system crash or something drastic like that. But, since nowadays I'm lookin to change that (me? keep a maintenance sched? I think heck just froze over...), I'm gonna try and see if I can get it all fixed up.
receiving an error message box when I close any site The error, It says below debug then send report and don't send report. Sometimes this happens but rarely when I am surfing the site.

I am helping a friend with her PC, she is recieving an error message reading "0x8024502D" We have tried every thing we can get our hands on to get rid of it. I have read that it has something to do with Windows XP's update program and it locks you out of most web sites requiring secure traffic. Are there any hopes of recovery? In the time we have spent today we could have reloaded XP!
I was wondering if someone could help me with a little problem I have. When I install service pack 2 or anything past sp2, it does something with my video card. Normally everything runs fine until I try to play one of my PC games (for instance Half Life 2) then either the computer freezes up, or the monitor goes black and stops receiving a signal from the video card. I know that it's not a hardware issue because running off of a fresh windows install with no updates and sp1 everything's fine, but sp2 or later causes problems with my video card, I've tried updating everything (windows, hardware etc....) nothing works except running it with no updates and sp1, and as you know you cannot run much without sp2 at least. Any help would be appreciated, I've also attached a .txt with my specs from dxdiag.
My sister did a Spybot scan and it apparently cleaned more than it should. After she did the "Fix", the computer crashed. When she tried to reboot, now all she gets is "Error loading operating system".We tried to reboot from the disk, and we get "searching from floppy, files not found""searching from cd-rom OK""boot from cd-rom, press any key", but when we press any key, nothing happens. Is there any other way to get this to boot from the disk so we can do a restore or file repair? I tried F8, but that didn't work either
There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity
I'm experienceing problems running the internet. Each time I try connecting tho the Net, despite changing the default homepage which has been changed to c:secure32.html I get a warning message about spyware I have also run Spybot Search and Destroy and the Lavasoft Ad-ware and removed all of the critical objects.
My PC is infected with some bad stuff and I'm not sure what to do. So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. I am pretty much at a loss as what to do next and was hoping one of you kind souls could help me. I am running xp.
I am selling with the OS installed (Win XP-Pro), what can I do to ensure that there will be no information at all left on the machine. I used it for MSN, Internet banking, browsing all that stuff, and I'm a little nervous that there will be information accesable by the buyer. I would just do a wipe and reinstall, however, I do not have the OS disc anymore, So I want to clean it up as much as possible. People tell me that I have to get the registry cleaned out. What I am asking is for any tips to ensure a clean machine and registry.
I have a vundo infection (on it's automatic scans) i ran superantispyware pro and it said clean. Then i restarted, and it was back. I ran superantispyware pro again, along with cwshredder, spybot, spyware blaster, and prevx. the infection seemed to be gone, but then the next day trendmicro alerted me that it was in my system restore. so i turned off system restore, restarted, re-enabled system restore and made a restore point. The infection isn't gone.

We just finished cleaning NAIL.EXE off the machine, and are now attempting to fix as weird login issue. Whereby it will STALL in both safe and normal mode BEFORE the user selection. It requires a reboot, and eventually the user selection will come up after rebooting enough times.
Ive recently discovered that my computer is infected with many viruses, adware, spyware, etc . and am very worried. My main concern is this constant pop up (that looks like a windows pop-up balloon) that tells me my computer is infected and wants me to buy anti spy storm. Ive already run spybot, bitdefender and AVG anti spyware many times in normal and safe mode (i couldnt run bit defender in safe mode).
