View 1 Repliesis it possible to run multiple accounts in XP at 1 time. for example I have two User Accounts, one if ABC and other is XYZ. I opend ABC in my PC and want to connect XYZ from other computer using Remote Desktop.
I tried this but it disconnects other user who already using that computer.
My PC won't remember usernames and passwords though it prompts me to save them after each time i login.
I have turned it off in Autocomplete and put it back on and no effect.
i did some changes in the control panel as advised by a website to boost game speed.
One of these was to go into the control panel and then admin tools and system and disable some of the automatic loaded programs.
I have also lost the windows xp theme and cannots ee how to restore it.The option is no longer present in the themes available.
I have been running a business out of my house for the last two years and I'm
in the process of moving it out of my home. My OS is registered to my
business but I intend to have a computer at home and my new shop...... am I
required to buy another OS disk to keep it legal?
In 2001 I purchased a Compact Presario with Windows XP Home Edition. I have slow dialup with MSN 9 as my browser and provider.Over the last few months, my PC has developed the following problems. They seem to have gotten worse when I was forced to upgrade from MSN 6 to MSN 9 last August.
1. About 70% of the time after signing in, I get a dialogue box that reads " Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close." I eventually log on after an attempt or two.
2. Pages sometimes freeze for up to 15-20 minutes before a new page finally opens up.
3. About once a week, I get the smaller bubble that reads that I am running low on virtual memory.
4. Pages do not usually close when clicking on the "X" in the left corner.
I recently signed into www.double my speed.com for a scan. The scan detected 837 errors of various sorts.I spent nearly three hours speaking to one of their techs from India who took over my computer ostensibly to diagnose the problem. He eventually determined that the $40 annual "fix it" option would not work because I have " very, very bad things" on my computer that needed my immediate attention. He showed me the page with all my errors, and took me to google which explains them. He said I was a victim of hacking. He took me to a page where I was going to get immediate help. Of course, all this help was going to cost $250 for the package. I hung up and disconnected.I am very un savvy when it comes to computers, but I seriously doubt I need to spend $250 to take care of these problems.I would greatly appreciate the simplest and/or least expensive way to get rid of these problems.I should add that my Norton anti-virus only detects low risk tracking cookies every week, and nothing else.I performed a sweep of these cookies today and got rid of them , but this did not speed things up or eliminate errors.
I currently have 2 partitions on a single hard drive (each one is running xp).The older partition (the one that I want to get rid of) is the primary partition, while the newer one (the one that I want to keep) is the extended partition. Could someone please tell me how to delete the primary partition and make the computer
recognize the extended partition as the primary partition?
I have half a dozen web sites I visit daily and keep open, web mail for instance. Is there a way to make a desktop icon or a batch file that will open multiple links? I tried a batch file with "open www.whatever.com" but it reuses the window for all addresses.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt work, we install a lot of different operating systems on computers, both for use within the school and for staff members' personal computers. In order to make things easier, we want to be able to create a USB pendrive that contains all of the operating systems we want to use and some form of menu to start the installation of each. The problem is, I've not been able to find guides that explain how to do exactly what we want.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my D: drive, I have several folders (500 something I think) containing mp3s that I have ripped from my CD collection. What I want to do is transfer all the mp3s contained in these folders to My Music (I have just upgraded to Windows xp media center edition). Rather than going through each folder manually, and going through the time consuming process of selecting, copying and pasting every mp3 in each folder, is there any way I can select all of the mp3s in all of the folders automatically, and have them copied over?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a copy of the above online to overwrite my French version of XP. I see, however, that it is intended for PC server manufacturers and assemblers ONLY. Does this mean I cannot use the disk to overwrite my software? I'm reluctant to try it without advice. Unfortunately, my husband broke the seal on the package when it arrived so presumably I can't exchange it if necessary.

Is there such a thing? Just myself as Administrator. No Guest and no other user accounts, and with full security options. The option to add another language could be useful.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe currently running Windows XP Home on our 2 Pc's at home. Four people use the PC's and we each have our own logins. Is there a way so that when my son installs new software, (he seems to install about 10 new programs per day), it will ONLY populate his program list on his logon and NOT the program list for the other 3 users of the PC? I notice that some installations ask if there will be a single or multiple users of that program, but what I would really like is to be able to be selective EVERY TIME.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to know if you can change the select time in single-click mode? Because as soon as my pointer moves over a file, it selects it. This is extremely irritating, when you only want to select certain files and then try to drag them to another window. Because as you move across the other files, they become selected also!! So, is there anyway to increase the amount of time that it takes for your pointer to select a file, because I hate double-click mode!

How/where do I configure XP to allow multiple internet windows open. Each time I go to a second site, the previous open site closes.
We are running windows XP SP2 on a large domain. We have recently had several users login in that are somehow getting new profiles. This seems to be affecting only the XP machines. Roaming profiles are not being used. We have been editing the registry and repointing to their original profiles, deleting the newly created profiles and this returns their original desktop and solves the problem temporarily, but it continues to happen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently performed a system recovery after getting a rather nasty virus. Everything else seems fine apart from these multiple instances of my administrator folder:
I'd like to delete all these un-necessary folders but when I try it says they are necessary for windows to run properly.
I did more than one system restore and each time the process created a new user folder. I first thought all my settings were lost but since discovered I had several new user folders and the computer was no longer using my original folder when I logged in.
