I had a crash and felt like I had to reinstall XP. Obviously I didn't know what I was doing, but I did get the system installed and put programs back on that I had disks for. The problem is that I now have Norton, Nero and others on the hard drive that do not show up on the computer but when I do a scan I have to check through all those programs and they are taking up space on the drive. I cannot access any of them.

Something tells me it's more than just selecting them and clicking Delete.

So the computer will boot the existing windows fine, im on it now, but when i go to format it, you load up the windows screen after post, and you get to the blue screen and it says please wait, where you should have the list of options, it simply turns the computer off. 1. Limited users cannot log in. Windows gives an error message: Quote: Windows cannot log you in because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network or that your network if functioning correctly. If this problem persists, see your network administrator. 2. When logging in on an administrator account, it takes about 3 minutes to open explorer, and when it does, the taskbar is hidden, is acting like it is locked (even after I unlocked it) and the Start Menu won't come up. 3. User Accounts (in Control Panel), when opened, simply hangs on a blank screen

I installed the Eset NOD32 3.0 antivirus, I wanted to remove it. I couldn't remove it on a conventional way, using the add/remove tool, so I removed it from my windows startup list, and then physically removed the folder from my HDD, and then used PC Tools Registry Mechanic thinking that it would do the trick, but it didn't. I tried various registry cleaning programs, but I just can't find it in the lists.
A program wouldn't uninstall properly for some reason. So, after several tries, I finally decided to just delete the directory. How do I remove that program's information from system registry and Control Panel add/remove list?
I recently installed Mcafee. I defraged my computer and restarted it. When it loaded up I noticed that everything is taking 2x as long to load and it is taking long time to even get the start button list up. I was able to get into the add/remove program list but nothing was there. I waited for about 10 minutes and then nothing still, I don't know any other way to remove McAfee, how to remove McAfee, add/remove program list won't work here.
I have tried previously to uninstall my HP Officejet G85 printer from HP Pavilion a1130n running XP Media. There is no Change/Remove button in Add/Remove Programs but the program is there, 150 MB, and the file suggested on the HP website for uninstalling older printers from XP produces a message that it's "unsupported" can't remember exact verbiage, been a while since last tried. Even reinstalled in the hopes that a message would come up to the effect "this program is already installed, do you want install to remove it prior to completing this install," but it just installs the printer again with a number after it ... I'm up to "hp officejet g series - 3."
My laptop is missing lots of programs under Add/Remove Programs that I know are installed. Furthermore, some that are listed don't have the Remove button next to it. The missing programs aren't listed in the Uninstall registry key and I'm confident there are not viruses on the machine.
"Change/Remove" button is missing for ALL installed programs. If I install a new program, it appears, but for all apps installed previously - it is gone.
The majority of the applications listed in the Add/Remove Programs menu of the Control Panel no longer have the Change and/or Remove buttons visible. Is there any way I can restore these without having to do something evil like a restore?
I would like to remove Windows Messenger off of my laptop. The "add/remove" programs does'nt have a item for me to select to remove it. Right-clicking on the icon in the toolbar doesnt give me an option.
