I have run in to the "Page cannot be displayed" message for certain sites. I know it is just my computer because I can access the site from friends' computers. One of the sites is where I get my e-mail and Outlook can't connect to it and neither can my FTP client.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI use Google as my home page and lately I been having intermittent problems with it. When I open my internet explorer, it says "Internet Explorer cannot display page". It's not my internet connect because if I type in an address other than my home page in the URL bar it will open. My AOL works too. After hitting the home button a few times, my home page, Google will open. But after awhile surfing the net, when I hit the home button, I get that message again that it can't display page. Right now as I type this, I hit the home page button and it says cannot display page so I hit the back arrow and I come back to this page and I can continue typing and I can send this thread. What's wrong with my home page "Google"?

Both can access the internet with no problems using internet explorer, MSN etc. open web pages using Internet Explorer or Firefox sign into msn has once or twice since this problem started I have scanned with ad-aware and norton 2007 both up to date, found some things and fixed them but still not working.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen out of no where, I received those weird progams on my PC which are those fake Virus scanners and such. i then deleted it from the source, and ran my Nortan scan and my spysweeper, and they found nothing wrong with my pc. Now, the PC will NOT let me go to "important" sites. For example, Bank of America, Paypal, anti-virus sites, Ebay, etc. But will let me go to sites like Myspace or forums. I had my favs on my toolbar as tiles so its easier to access them, i had about 10 of them, and now only 5 remain after the whole thing happened, and the 5 that were removed were "important" sites. Almost every thing on my tool bar was removed, including File, Edit, View, Tools, and such. My search engine is still displayed though.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a network at home, with two wired pcs and a wireless laptop connected to the network. we all had the internet until i went onto a website on my computer (one of the wired ones) whereupon loads of popups came up. it took me a couple of minutes to close all of the popups, and when i returned to the desktop, the wallpaper had been replaced by an internet shortcut to a site advertising a spyware blocker. i then found out how to remove it in the desktop settings box. that was fine, except i couldnt get onto the internet afterwards, and programs such as msn messenger and half life 2's steam did not log on either. however, the other wired and wireless computers could still access the net etc................

I've managed to get rid of therapid AV, but it looks like I've got some malware/adware of some sort running. Attempts to get to symantec, mcaffee, avg, etc give site not available results in IE 7 - includes techguy.org!!!!, but non-"fixit" sites like google and everything else in the world I can get to. Every few clicks, the url is redirected to an ad site. I've run adaware and trendmicro which found Troj_vg_fcx and removed it, but the problem persists.

I was wondering if people had any suggestions about the following problem I have.I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop (couple of years old now) and it has Windows XP Media Centre Edition installed on it. I has been running perfectly fine all of this time until very recently.I started it up and selected Windows XP on the boot loader (I have dual boot installation with SUSE 10 but I have not used this for at least a year), and noticed something odd. The initial bios screen at the beginning of bootup had vertical stripes down the page over the top of the dell logo.When the windows XP loading logo appears, I get similar striping. After a few seconds the computer halts to the BSOD and gives the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error and halts.I have managed to boot up into windows safe mode, with no problem, and interestingly the vertical stripes are not evident here.Firstly I thought it might be a graphics card issue, so I downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA and installed them in safe mode, however this has not had any effect.After this,

The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere.
