On boot up I get the following error, TECHNICAL INFORMATION STOP:0X0000008E (OXC0000005, 0XBF80C87B, 0XF9C8CC64, 0X00000000)Win32k.sys address BF80C87B base at BF 800000, datestamp 43446a58, Then it goes through a memory dump Windows XP Pro SP2.
I"m running WinXP SP2 Home. Hardware is 2.0 Celeron, 1 gig Ram, 64MB Nvidia Video Card, PS/2 keyboard and mouse, HD's are 250GIG Western Digital with 4 partitions and 27% free on the XP Boot and 200GIG Western Digital with 2 Partitions. I have a Lite-On DVD +-R/RW drive and a 3.5 floppy. I am setup with a Duel-Boot configuration Win 98/XP. I do not have a paging file.
My problem occures after I hit enter for the Select Operating System page. I Hit enter, Win XP proceeds to load. After I hit enter and Windows loads the blue welcome screen 1 minute has passed. I hear the Welcome Audio music, however blue welcome screen is still there for 30 more seconds. Next is my picture that I have as my background that is shown without icons for 1minute 21seconds. Windows now displays my icons on my desktop. the icons blink at minute 4. after 4 minutes and 51 seconds I am able to use my computer. At bootup I only have 43 programs running and 357MB of the 1 gig ram taken.
What I have done: 1) I have started in safe mode and defraged my PC, 0% frag on all partitions except a drive that isn't currently plugged in and it was 1% because it's my backup drive (not worried about that 1%) 2)Removing all connected Componets and rebooted, same problem. 3) I have tried using msconfig.exe and setting the startup selection as Normal- it's defaulted to Selective. Tried reducing my startup programs. ....
I had had 2 operating system on 2 hard drives (XP and Vista) I took vista off and replaced it with media center. I could boot both xp and media center but the vista boot screen always shows up and would have to go into "ealier versions of windows" and choose my OS from there. I read somewhere to get rid of the vista boot screen I should delete "bootmgr" file and "boot" folder from the root of C: I did this and now nothing works. It tries to boot into vista boot screen but it says files are missing and resets
I am having probllems installing Windows XP, first of all the installation is unusually slow, it has more than 5 hours installing. Then i have a boot error from Windows NOT from the BIOS, i have tried getting into the Repair Console an using FIXMBR and FIXBOOT, unsuccesfully; removed every suspecious setting on my BIOS..... The installator copies small parts, copy 1% or 2% and stops for a while (I think it is decompressing the files, but that slow!?). After that i get a booting error (I dont remember what does it says; i will post it later, when my 4th attemp ends).
I had voltage fluctuations last night due a snowstorm and the voltage dropped crashing my PC.It now won't boot and gives the error that a file is corrupted.Windows/system32/config..The PC runs an OEM XP home edition on a SATA drive, the PC also has an IDE drive (D) but the OSes are on the C drive.Inside the XP installation I have Linux Mint installed. When I boot I get the 2 options I always used to , XP (default) and Linux Mint.XP won't boot when selected and gives the error above. The Linux Mint, also on C and in fact installed as a program within XP, will boot, hence I believe the SATA drive to be undamaged.I can see the C drive and all the XP files from the Linux installation.I've tried using the original full CD and the recovery console but when the recovery console opens all it can see is the IDE drive which it labels D (and of course doesn't contain the original XP install.I can't remember how I got XP on the SATA drive in the first place, I don't appear to have any Hard drive drivers in the case I keep all software CDs in and I'm a bit flummoxed. I can only imagine I just fitted it and loaded the XP install disc but that's at odds with what seems to be happening now.Spent a large part of today Googling but can't find anything that will fix this. so far.I don't want to have to wipe and re-install everything unless there's no option, it's a fast way to kill a couple of days over the holidays.
My machine shut down properly with no errors. Then when I tried to start it the next day I encountered the following errors. The first is a Boot Disc Error which is followed by a Boot from CD prompt. After copying files from the windows xp cd, a blue screen with a stop message appears with details of an error - partmgr.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. At this point, I am able to reboot in safe mode and do a system restore. However, when I shut down and try to restart, I'm back to square one
Home Brew Computer .. Windows XP SP2 (with all the updates .. except IE7) Ive installed a new ATA 250 gig Seagate Cloned a good OS .. Making the C: partition 50 gig. The second Data Partition is recognized as the remaining 184 gig and the Drive seems to be working great. Every boot up .. Windows says the software for the HD is not found and the ST3250824A may not work properly .. etc .. etc. Once past these messages .. all seems OK.
. With one exception. When trying to make an Acroins backup of the C: Partition to an external HD . It has many reports of Sectors being used or faulty .. and can not continue. If I use the Acronis Boot CD .. Acronis is AOK If I run Sea tools .. It results in a blacked out (result screen) upon completion. Windows Check and Fix disc seems OK. The device manager reports the Monitor with a yellow .. but the VIAS3G UniChrome Pro IGP device is working properly. Right now .. Im not using the owners Monitor..
The Raid Controller PCI bus 0, device 15 says the Drivers are not installed (code 28) But Im not using the Raid Mobo SATA connections (ATA drives only) This drive was Cloned from an 80 gig that was freshly restored from the Windows CD. When this 80 gig is re-installed it does not have the boot up error .. and Acronis runs internally OK. The device manger still has the same two yellow Questions which are understandable .. IMO. A new ATA Seagate 320gig is on order for an external enclosure application.
I just upgraded my computer with a new mobo and vid card . I have WinXP BTW. Everthing was working fine until last night. I recorded a performance into Sound Forge and was about to save it when the computer shut down. It automatically tried to reboot but gave me an error like "Boot From CD. Insert disk and press enter". (btw, both of my harddrives were recognized) Well, I had no disk so I just pressed enter. It then proceeded to do a scan disk check. The message I received was "Your computer has just recovered from a serious error" . It suggested I send a report to Microsoft. I however have no internet connection at home. The details of the error included to file addresses. One was something like C:\Documents and Settingsminidump.......
I tried turning the PC on this morning and it turned on fine. The only thing I noticed was a mechanical sound like when the floppy drive is searching for a disk and there is none present. What could possibly be wrong?
My Daughter came home from college and asked me to look at her compuer apparently she is having a few problem.Error during boot. Error loading c:windowssystem32ridge.dll Cannot enable wired NIC card. Where should I install codec like dvix, xvid? In the partition which win xp is on and boot from, or another partition? I would like to install as less programs as possible on win xp partition.
error msg is about and how can I stop it from coming on whenever I boot up my computer. I am running Win XP Pro SP2. I could not copy this error msg into this box so I am typing everything that it says.
I always get a Error upon boot up and am not sure what it is? I have searched all I could on "wildtangent" and it seems to be a online gaming program? yet I don't play games on my pc? I do have a younger brother though that may use this while I'm out. The error is as follows ERROR LOADING C:Programs FilesWildTangentappsCDAcdaEngine0400.dll The specified module could not be found.
I am running XP home on my Acer notebook. I installed 2 drivers from AMD website to update my Turion 2.0 processer. On restart I got the error message for Hal.dll. I been searching for a while now and can only find help that involve using the XP CD. I've been trying to boot the disc, but it won;t. I can't get past the hal.dll error.
I've got a Sony Vaio notebook and it just started with this error message today. UNMOUTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME Technical information: *** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x81A98D68,0xc0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000)
I searched around the web and the only thing I could find to fix this issue, is to get my Win-XP startup cd and reinstall windows. I cant find my startup cd. I found another site that stated if I cant find a start up cd to download 6 boot disks to floppy. Ive done so and I inserted the 1st boot disk and restarted my notebook I now get this error: Disk I/O error.
He turned on his computer today and it just froze at the windows loading screen. When my father came home from work he tried to boot it into safe mode to try and do a rollback to a safe point, but instead it would give him a screen with some lines on it which will follow in a moment. He then tried to run chkdsk in safe mode but it just hung there so he restarted it and it went straight into safe mode with no indication it was running chkdsk except the HD light is going so perhaps it is in the background. Either way we went ahead with the Windows Xp disk to try and do a repair and ran a chkdisk from there and it finished said it found 1 or more errors then went into safe mode again with the hd light running. He is unable to do anything at all in safe mode atm but is letting it sit there jic the hd is doing chkdisk again. I set Windows to check my main hard drive for errors on my Dell E310 the next time it boots, so I shut it down and then rebooted. It started to load Windows, but after the loading bar went through 2 and a half passes, it just stopped. I figured this was normal for the error-checking program, but I left it for a couple of hours and came back. It still hadn't started, so I shut it down and booted to safe mode and did a system restore back to the beginning of yesterday. Right now I have it booting again and it stopped at the same spot.
I have been getting this error for the last two days or so. I dont exactly know how but when I boot the computer up it gives me an Error saying: Windows- No Disk. Please insert disk into drive. Cancel. Try Again. Continue -Basically I either have to hit cancel or continue to make it go away...but it is still annoying to see it and it sometimes pops up periodically.
I keep getting an error message everytime I boot up my computer. It says that the system has recovered from a serious error. Even if I shut down my pc normally, a scandisc is performed every time i boot. The error message says the ff: "The system has recovered from a serious error"
I think I got virus, even though norton work 2004 cant dectected but everytime startup its say that (invalid boot disk...please insert...) and I have to put in my winxp in cd drive to boot up. I been format the disk and reinstall win but it don't help. I think some how my NTLDR got corrupted? but not just that one drive, I change to another smaller (4.0G) drive that got nothing but Winxp Pro and it's say the same. Winxp Pro 3.0g mhz 340g Hd.
SystemRoot/System32/Drivers/asc3550f Erro status was oxc000012f Windows 2000 Professional system I recently purchased this computer system ($50) for my Mother who simply does e-mail and games (not on line games). I had to remove malware at first (can't remember the name) and had to install msconfig as 2000 did not have this feature. Now upon booting up, a window pops up with the above message, however upon clicking on the small x to close the window, then computer boots up and she uses it. Nothing else happens. I decided to go into the WINN file and found a folder (drivers) and actually saw the little driver file "asc3559f" and was going to simply remove it by copying it to another folder, shutting down and trying to reboot but must admit, I chickendd out. She lives about 100 miles from me so I didn't want to cause trouble and left it alone and I am now beginning to think since it boots after closing the pop up window; leave well enough alone.
My computer was running fine last night, but today when I tried turning it on, it came up with "Error Loading OS" on the boot up screen. It has never done this before, and it will only work now when I have the Windows XP disk in the CD Drive. I even tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in, but it still won't work.
I have downloaded Windows XP Home Edition Utility: Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install from the MSDN download centre.I have run the executable WinXP_EN_Home_BF.exe and produced the 6 Startup floppy disks. When I boot my PC using the startup floppy disks I get the following error on disk #5 "Corrupt CDRom.sys"Where can I get a version that works error free?
The whole stop error is: 0x000000ED (0x81FDB900, 0xc000009c, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) OK, so far, I got a copy of Windows XP Professional SP2. I have been trying and trying to get this stupid computer to work. I have attempted to access the recovery console, to no avail. If I hit the boot from CD ROM, it takes me to which operating system to start from I have TWO choices, (??) One is titled Windows XP Professional. If I click that one, it goes to windows startup page, then BSOD. If I click the other (it just says "Microsoft Windows"), it goes to c:/>, and any command I enter says Bad command or file name. No matter what else I hit, it goes to the Windows screen next and then to BSOD- unmountable boot volume and the previous stop error. Sometimes if Im really lucky (pfft!), I get a screen that says: To continue current upgrade to XP Professional press Enter To cancel current upgrade and install new version hit F10 Or to exit without installing windows hit F3 I dont think I should install the new copy of the OS because there is stuff on this drive the owner needs, pictures and such, and he wont be able to recover them if I write over them with a new OS, right? (Even though I have already tried hitting enter, it's the only option it will respond to- and it doesn't install the OS anyway).(He was not in the process of upgrading when all this went haywire). The last screen I can get is the one where you can start in safe mode, etc. But all of the options bring me ultimately to the BSOD.
the error that pops up after loading is related to svchost.exe - Application Error ( The instruction at 0x500bcb9a referenced memory at 0x00000000 the memory cannot be "read") I'm pretty sure it's not a virus. I did a full system scan with Kaspersky 6.0, Ad-aware pro and spybot.
Recently, when booting up, I have been getting 2 error messages (both appear twice). They refer to files not found or missing but I cannot begin to identify the files - all that I see are a series of little squares: 7 in a row, then a space, then 14 more. I click on OK and away they go and everything else seems to procede normally. I have a Dell Dimension, Windows XP Home. A call to Dell was not encouraging - they recommended re-installing the system. Oh dear. I have Norton Firewall and Anti-Virus, Microsoft's new Anti-Spy, WinPatrol, AdAware and Spybot. I am FAIRLY confident that my system is clean, but then, who knows? I have run registry checks and let them do their business (I don't fool around with the registry on my own, I am not a trouble-maker). If I need to re-install, I will work up the courage to do so, but until then...maybe someone here has had some experience with these error messages. At least I would learn something new. For now, my system SEEMS to be working OK, but what do I know. This could be a harbinger of worse things to come.
I am trying to help a friend with their laptop. It is a fairly new Dell laptop (about 2 years old) running Windows XP. They don't know if one of there kids downloaded something with a virus or what caused the issue. I have never dealt with this sort of issue before. When trying to boot the computer, one receives the following error after the Windows XP splash screen: "The application or DLL C:WINDOWSsystem32DNsapI.dll is not a valid Windows Image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
I am trying to install Windows XP Home for a friend. I set the BIOS up to boot from CD and inserted the Windows XP install CD. When the PC boots up I get the following error message: Cannot boot from CD - Code: 5. The CD ROM spins up and sounds like its working fine. It was working fine before I tried to install.
I'm not sure if this counts as a hardware or software problem, sorry if I've posted it in the wrong forum.
My parents have an acer laptop, it is about 3 years old, it has a centrino 1.6, 256mb ram, 40GB HD, CDRW and windows XP.
it was working perfectly, and when last used it shut down normally. However on trying to boot it up today it gets to a screen that says load error! "Press any key to reboot"however when pressing a key it just displays the load error message again and seems stuck in a loop.
This happens only a couple of seconds into the boot sequence, the screen immediately before the error screen gives the following information:
Base Memory xxxxx Extended memory xxxxx Total memory xxxxxx
Auto detecting IDE device Primary master xxxxxx Secondary master
Insyde ACPI bios initialised
At the bottom of the screen it says Press F2 to enter system configuration
If I press F2 at that point I get into the BIOS.
I did not know what to do, I wondered whether Windows had been corrupted so decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows using the recovery CDs supplied with Acer.
After going into the BIOS to change to boot device to the CD drive, the clean reinstall seemed to go well, everything progressed, as normal and every thing seemed to being reinstalled. I was optimistic that all would be well.
However, on rebooting after the reinstall I got the same error message as I had done before. (I had changed the boot device to drive C)
I tried doing a full reinstall again, though of coarse it did not help, and right now I dont have a clue how to progess in trying to solve the problem.
