I turned on my Asus A6000 Entertainment Notebook today (Windows XP), it started up normal and then a blue screen came on saying that there was a problem and that Windows could not run and it rebooted itself.After that, the windows loading page would just play over for a long while and it will either reboot itself again or take me to the F8 function of the laptop. This started out with the speakers I turned down the volume to nothing while playing a game and then I tried to turn it back up I got no sound from internal speakers. tried all the options in the volume looking for anything muted but nothing. Tried to update the sound card drivers with the same results of no sound out of the internal speakers. when starting my laptop I had a smaller then the normal screen when starting up, same size on my main screen. able to change to a higher resolution to fill the entire screen but if I go any lower then the highest resolution I have a black boarder were the window should be.

I used a boot disk to get into windows and it shows all the drives in the right order. windows on c, 2nd drive on d. but it won't boot up. i loaded through a windows disk to try to reinstall windows and it shows that windows is on d; and the other drive is c!!! thats why it cant load on start up. how do i fix this?

I just tried to switch to the guest profile and received a message that it could not find a profile and to be sure I was connected to the network. I then created a new profile and got the message that "Windows canot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default.It would appear that I have corrupt files in profile and the only apparant solution is to foremat. I say that becasue I can't find a fix anywhere.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided to "reinstall" Windows XP on my laptop. I stuck the reinstall disk into the computer and let it go. After about 1 hour of "reinstalling", the computer restarted, after that, the window was only one half the size and I couldn't change the monitor resolution size. (but, it showed the old desktop information so I knew right away that I hadn't actually reinstalled to the original state, but just reinstalled over the current desktop).
I restarted the computer to see if the window screen would enlarge to the full size. It did return to the full screen size, but Now, it freezes at the part of startup where the screen says "Windows is starting up". I left it on for 20 minutes and it was still frozen. SHould I insert the Windows XP disk again, to start over or what? Or click reboot after hitting the F2 button??

View 2 Replies View RelatedI start computer and during windows xp logo booting screens the monitor will go blank (orange light by monitor power button) and keyboards lights will turn off numlock caps and scroll lock will not turn them back on and the little light on my wireless usb mouse reciever goes out. however the pc front lights disc tray and network lights remain on and fan is still going. but sometimes i do manage to get passed the startup (10% of the time) and into windows for about 10-30 minutes before the same blank screen freeze up happens. i know its not totally a videocard monitor issue because not just the monitor goes blank everything stops responding......

You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" I clicked OK and a second box came up. It had DESKTOP in the title bar and the text said "Could not load or run c: . I use the free version of Grisoft's AVG so I ran a scan and it found 3 items, one of which was taskmgr.exe infected with Trojan horse SHeur.NOZ. It said it fixed them so I rebooted. The other 2 were svchost.exe and svchost_tmp.exe also infected by SHeur.QCZ

In Control Panel, under Mouse, Hardware, only one device (the USB mouse I'm using) shows up. I'm not sure what the standard touchpad driver for HP notebooks is.
