When I try to double-click my folders I get "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error Program: CWINDOWSexplorer.exe abnormal program termination" when I press ok, desktop icons disappears for a while and then appears.

I ran setup.exe to install Visual Studio 6.0 using DVD. It crashed. I thought DVD is bad or corrupted and used some other CD. Still Visual Studio6.0 installation wizard is crashing. When it crashed, a dialog box comes upand asks whether I can send report to Microsoft or debug. I sent report to Microsoft. Nothing happend more than that. I tried to debug using visualstudio .net. Whenever I open explorer (not IE) and attempt to delete files I get a box saying: Runtime Error! Program: C:WINDOWSexplorer.exe abnormal program termination (OK). If I click the explorer window the dialogue box disappears behind the explorer window and I can continue deleting files etc. However when I finally click the (OK) in the error box, All the Icons on my desktop disappear for about 15 seconds and then reappear as if nothing is wrong. But sometimes the icons do not reappear and then I have to use the Ctl-Alt-Del method to restart the computer. What is happening and how can I fix it without reinstalling windows XP SP2.

I am using microsoft xp and i am getting this message while using java. Most of the time when i am playing games on yahoo. My system will start to run slow for about 2 or 3 minutes and then i get this error and my system freezes for about 3 or 4 minutes and then all windows shut down or the system reboots.

The first box is an explorer application error 0x018638ae reference memory 0x0197cca4 memory could not be read.After that box is closed the runtime error 216 at 018638AE pops up.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just installed Visual Studio 2005 on my machine. and i've started getting this machine check exception error. the full error is 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x805461f0, 0xb2000000, 0x00070f0f). I also tried booting in safe mode to uninstall Visual Studio and i can't because it says it is missing files. I'm not sure what to do at this point Anyway every time i boot the machine a few minutes after it gets into windows i get this stop error. Before it blue screens though ALL of my anti-virus/anti-spyware stuff goes haywire, as in it won't load or it is suddenly missing virus definition files?? I have NOD32, avast, spysweeper and comodo firewall running. I also run adaware but that isn't set to load at startup. I'm not sure if it was the software install that did it because i've been having issues with my video card also. where it will say nvidia sentinel thinks the video card isn't getting enough power and will then spam me with that message. I tried up dating the drivers but they were uptodate. Card is a Geforce7900. All the rest of my computer specs should be under my profile. I think i'll have to update the video card info though.
