My e-mail programme is a fully registered version of Incredimail. I recently installed the MacAfee 8.0.0 anti virus programme. Immediately thereafter I was unable to send any e-mails, although recieving any, presents no problem. Disabling MacAfee enables me to send as normal but leaves the computer unprotected whilst doing so. I have no problems sending mail via Yahoo, Netscape, Outlook Express, Opera or any other webmail I would imagine.Does this indicate that MacAfee is finding the Incredimail outgoing e-mail to be suspect and therefore blocking it? If this be the case I would be most grateful if anyone could proffer any comment and even more grateful should a solution be forthcoming
I'm dumbfounded trying to find how to change the number of times Fax will ring before canceling to try again. I have a fax machine I'm trying to send to that picks up on 15 rings, but Fax will only allow 10 rings before it tries again.
My Macafee updates seems to stop at DAT FILES and then seems go back 2 files and then stops again at DAT FILES It keeps trying to install but then keeps stopping. I also use adware and spybot anti spyware programs
I was in the middle of upgrading and installing Macafee on to my Laptop before it shut down and will not come back on... I have removed adn re-inserted the battery, the power supply cord is properly inserted into the wall and there weren't any fuses blown.
I have Win XP SP2 SMTP server running with Outlook Express and it is working well, except that I have looked at the log file and I suspect that other things are sending emails from my machine. I have up-to-date Zone Alarm firewall and XP firewall turned off.I have 3 email accounts that I use to send emails from my OE all xxx@mydomain.com .Is there any way to configure it and limit it to only allow emails sent from xxx@mydomain.com ? It is possible that these addresses (mta106.mail.cnb.yahoo.com etc) are emails I have sent to valid yahoo email address I suppose, (I dont know the address of the yahoo SMTP server at the other end) but I would feel happier if I could configure it to only allow emails being sent from mydomain.com.My ISP allocates different IP addresses to me every time I login so I cannot restrict it by IP address.
I'm running Win XP sp2 Home Edition on a Dell 8250 with 2.8 GigaHerz HD and 1024 Gig RAM. When I say " Go here and highlight here the hyperlink button lights up but when I click on it it won't open to let me paste the URL in! No one at Incredimail seems to know how to fix this problem. I reported it a year ago and finally gave up...but the other day when composing an email I tried it again and it worked. But that was just one time and now it won't work again. I can't recreate the situation because I don't know what I did other than highlight the here and click on the hyperlink button. I appreciate any expert help and advice on this.
I attached a MS Access file to my outgoing email. I received the warning about others using Outlook may not be able to access the attached file. I decided to send anyway... Now Outlook is unwilling to send the email and I cant get access to my access file...surely I can choose to send and receive attachments?
I upgraded to Windows Live Mail and now am unable to view my previous e-mails in my hot mail account that i have had for years. How do i retrieve these e-mails that i believe are still on the server?
both my firewall (zonealarm) and my viruscan software (macafee) just stopped working, and i can no longer get acces to the internet or scan for viruses or block anything. and it wont let me restore any of my old registries either. anyone know what happened or hot i might fix the problem?
i ran hijackthis, and this is the log i got: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 ...
I have used Incredimail since 2002 (free version though I did buy the letter creator) without many problems other than slowing everything down. Suddenly 4 months ago it started to shut down when ever I tried to send a powerpoint or word document, which meant I had to use Outlook express to send any serious mail Error messages vary from the usual 'Incredimail has encountered an error... etc' to 'The memory cannot be read at 000011234 etc.'
I don't know what happened, but my default e-mail program in MS Word changed by itself and now when I try to send to and mail recipient it uses Outlook instead of Outlook Express like I originally had setup.
could someone tell me how to open files I have imported from Incredimail (ME) into XP, I have them in a folder called Message Store, each one sitting there named correctly and I can't open them!!!
Is there a way to block access to programs in Xp pro. I've set up a user account but I want to to limit access to chat programs like MSN/Yahoo Messenger.
I tryed a firewall called Comodo. I was not impressed because I could not get it to allow alot of my apps access even after creating rules ect. I uninstalled it, which was a nightmare and took forever because their installer is bugged! anyway, I have gone through the Regedit and deleted all ref's to comodo, deleted the folders ect. Best as I can tell everythine has been removed. However I have programs, apps and games that used to access fine BEFORE installing Comodo that cant connect now! Should I do a reinstall of XP? or is there some other files that the firewall might of moded that can be replaced? Any thoughts or ideas? I have a post on the Comodo Forums, but after searching most of the day I have yet to find anyone with a problem like this after following the manuel uninstallation and I'm not to hopeful...
After booting up OK, any attempt to click on the Start button leads to a box appearing labelled RUNDLL. Within this box the letter 'r' is repeatedly and continuously printed. The box can be closed but the error recurs if the Start button is clicked again. At the same time there are intermittent 'bleeps' from the speakers, and clicking on ANY icon on the desktop opens only the recycle bin! If you try making a search with Google again the letter 'r' is repeatedly generated in the seach box.
Repeated scans with (updated) Norton Antivrus 2005 and with Ad-aware have not helped. Strangely, at some times the computer behaves completely normally.
I have noticed that I have supposedly installed Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) several times today! I think thismay be because spybot is blocking a registry change called Winlogon something or other. Can anyone confirm this? In other words if I tell spybot to allow this will that stop updates from repeatedly trying to install the same thing?
I have a pretty simple inquiry. I was wanting to know if there are any non-essential things that I have running that I do not need (& that none of my installed programs need to run). I'm not positive if I need the stuff like O4 - Startup: DLHelperEXE.exe or stuff like O9 - Extra button: Wild Jack Poker - {17709D14-4A02-42c6-B9FA-18C90A851F51} - C:Program FileswildjackMPPMPPoker.exe so I want to double check with someone who knows. Please let me know if I have anything running or installed that is not neccessary.
I use mIRC and I've given it full access in my Firewall Zone Alarm free edition settings, but whenever I try to join a server, GameSurge in this case, I get this error: This never used to happen with the older version of ZoneAlarm, but I'm assuming this version has bug fixes or improved stability over the older one so I'm reluctant to go back to it.
How come my sister computer is blocking all cookies? she went to one of her sites and it says to enable cookies.can someone tell me how to do that please? (im not sure if this has anything to do with the cookie blocking but she is using zone alarm security suite for her anti-virus and firewall)
attempting to help a neighbor resolve a problem with his computer. Toshiba Notebook running XP SP3. He attemped to renew his Norton AntiVirus Subscription , download 2009 to update from 2008. He had Zonealarm running as a firewall on computer. Ran in to an issue with Norton install locking up. Contacted Norton via Web and opened a CHAT support session. Norton rep told him that 2009 wouldnt work with Zone Alarm, and the rep proceeded to uninstall ZA. During uninstall encountered an error, rebooted to safe mode, went to command line and manually updated Registry , and deleted files (and didnt backup Registry). Rebooted and AV still wouldnt installed. Then the user lost Internet connection and lost support. I uninstalled Norton (using their Removal Tool) and internet came back. Attempted install of 2008 AV and install completed, but when attempting Live Update it failed and reported Internet Connection failure. Ran live update out side of app and it return error 1814 and failed. Ive tried to clean up and remove any thing I can find in the Registry from Zone Alarm. All of Symantec apps and files have been removed from the computer. I attempted to download / install Uniblue Registry Booster 2009 from the web, and during the install it shows 1%, and then errors out with message, Downloading of Installation data from web has failed. Please makes you are connect to the Internet. I have confirmed that MS Firewall is turned off.
i just want to know if there is some way i can curb the kid's use on the pc and xbox. some software maybe? i just want to block the internet access after a certain time. the reason being is that as they are older i some times go to bed before they do and therefore have no way of monitoring the access.
Recently Zone Alarm is blocking all of my internet access. If I leave the computer on for a long period of time(>6 hours), zone alarm will block all internet connection w/o notifying me. If I restart the computer or turn off ZA i get internet back. I have the free of of ZA. any suggestion?
I have just installed pc tools firewall plus which works great one small problem is when I start Cabos I get a message saying that my Firewall is blocking Java access to the internet could anyone tell me how I can remedy this. I have turned off my Windows Firewall.
however i didn't want said family member accessing any of my files etc so created a new user (limited account) all well file regards however windows installs all my programs games etc etc onto the new user account as well which is not what i want at all.Is there any way of preventing a new user from being able to access any of the programs i've installed. i'e just make it like i had done a fresh install of windows and then installed stuff separately on my account. that is to say without actually wiping the drive and starting again.
I'm working on a computer that is blocking internet access to IE and firefox. Looks to me like the owner attempted to clear things up but left some remnants of a hijacker I can't find. When I open IE I notice the info bar redirecting me to C:windows escan't make out the full path then I get the page cannot be displayed message.
To be very clear, I can send and recieve email, I can ping and get a response, and I can also get online and able to browse in safe mode. So the connection is not completely down. Only when I am logged into a user account does this happen. Here is a HJT log. I restored a backup so one of you may get a better feeling as to what is going on. I am aware of the trojan infection of services32.exe as well as a couple other hijackers. However, when I remove all the baddies I see there is still no internet..........
A while back I needed remote assistance from a tech person He fixed my problem but what I need to know is can he still get on my PC(WXP Home) whenever it suits him.How can I tell if he vists ?He setup my web page remotely as well and I saw he updated a part yesterday I am very concerned regarding my other private stuff , emails, etc

Is there any reason the hosts file should not block sites properly?Certain sites I have put in there aren't being blocked, and this is a problem. Also, does it only block the major site (just the www.badsite.com) and not all subdomains of that? (for example "signup.badsite.com")
