Probably we all have heard about the new, awesome, fantastic (e.c.t.) Microsoft anti spyware. Before a few months, MS bought the Giant company and made its own anti spyware, in order to protect the poor Windows users from getting infected from spyware. With micro$osft antispyware being distibuted for free, there wiil not be any spyware infected PCs anymore. Right? However, if we take a closer look, we ll see that the situation is a little bit more complex. So how MS antispyware will detect and quarantine claria spyware, if both belongs to Micro$oft? It simpy wont. And, if we take a more closer look, we could say that it basically a plan of MS to infect all Windows systems with spyware. While the user wiil feel safe, the microsoft spyware will be spying him.
I have an aging but nevertheless still potent Dell desktop. It came with ME, but spent most of it's life running 2KPro. But I wanted XP, and I wanted SP2 (you know, all the good stuff). But I didn't wanna pay a lot of money for it.I once paid $184.00 for an XP disc at Costco. And M$ talks about piracy. This time, I Googled until I was satisfied that I had found the cheapest price $43.88.I knew that I was taking a chance, and might get scammed but I went ahead with it anyway. It came from DirectDepot2U via UPS yesterday. When I opened the package, there were 2 discs, and a rather brief instruction sheet: "Dear Customer: Please install windows with Back Up CD for all computers. The original CD (Dell, HP, Compaq or Gateway..) is your license CD and for all special drivers. Thanks. Customer Service" No COA, or any ot that fancy stuff.I was on my own. One CD was a genuine Dell XP home re installation CD, but I wasn't supposed to use that. The other CD (XP pro, as I would discover) was colored solid fire-engine red, with a crude inkstamp that read "Back Up CD" (without the quotes). There was a little sheet with the product key.It could have made the grade for Army surplus.I popped it into the tray, and off I went.It started nicely, and after everything was installed, prompted me for the product key. From there it seemed to take over with a mind of it's own. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy the show, occasionally checking for a choice. At one point, it asked if I was directly connected to a modem, or to a router. I clicked router. The next thing I knew, a Microsoft update was being installed.I was on the Internet!I know, I know, only have mouse, keyboard & monitor connected.
But you see, I was riding a horse without a saddle having a good time.I hadn't disconnected anything. I clicked on the IE button. Boom, there was MSN! I went to MS updates, as I wanted to install SP2. It said no updates were available. Curious, I opened "system". SP2 was already in there!I opened Device Manager. I wondered where all the yellow went. (I was prepared to deal with drivers, as I had previously gone on the Dell website, downloaded all my XP updated drivers, unzipped, and burned them to a CD.I just now threw that CD into the wastebasket.)To sum up, I've never had an installation go so smoothly. Now, maybe I'm heading for a fall.Maybe this disc is illegitimate. But hey, what have I got to lose? $43.88 (plus shipping).
I want to make my computer like the way I bought it. I need to take everything off and start from clean again because I am selling the computer and do not want any of my stuff to be on the machine anymore. How should I go about doing this? I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 and the cd's that came with it do not help. I have a Re-Installation of Windows CD but when I tried to use that it said that there was a newer version installed on my computer. I guess because I installed the service pack
There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity
I'm experienceing problems running the internet. Each time I try connecting tho the Net, despite changing the default homepage which has been changed to c:secure32.html I get a warning message about spyware I have also run Spybot Search and Destroy and the Lavasoft Ad-ware and removed all of the critical objects.
My PC is infected with some bad stuff and I'm not sure what to do. So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. I am pretty much at a loss as what to do next and was hoping one of you kind souls could help me. I am running xp.
When I go to Microsoft's site for this program I read that it needs to be downloaded with SP2. Now, my o/s (Win XP Pro SP2) and Office 2003 has all the latest updates completed (no failures). Why and how would I download SP2 with Movie Maker 2.1 when I already have SP2? How can I download Movie maker 2.1 on its own?
I recently upgraded my XP to SP2. I have since that time upgraded my hardware and software programs to work on XP2. However there is no upgrade for my movie making program for XP SP2. I lake SP2 since I have worked out the bugs and would like to keep it. Can I Reinstall windows XP on another partition on my hard drive so I can boot to this installation when I work with Adobe premiere(my movie making program) and Pinnacle DV500(my capture card) And if so how big of a partition should I set-up.

When I use Windows Movie Maker to capture from my DV camcorder, the CPU is at 100 % and the fan is always working. Then, after approximately 5 minutes of capture, my PC freeze and I have to reboot it. Then I see that a 39 MB video file (.wmv) and a 468 MB .tmp file have been created.I have a notebook 2.4 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. I have ordered a notebook cooler but it will come in about 2 weeks.I tried to capture my video with the Samsung software coming with my camcorder, it worked, the CPU was low during the capture but the video captured was of poor quality
I could not import video file from my video folder because the codec requied to play file was not installed on my computer. Where do I go to get the codec that is required?
I use XP Media Center 2005 Edition and was watching TV while editing a video with Movie Maker 2.1 on the same screen. After several editing the Movie Make became slow and then stopped responding. So I'd like to restore the Movie Maker but it comes with Service Pack 2. Is there anyway the Movie Maker program alone may be deleted and reinstalled without deleting and reinstalling whole SP2 package?
I am using windows XP home edition with office 2003 professional on a Toshiba dynabook. I want to uninstall or disable the Microsoft movie maker, as it is interfering with my professional Adobe Premiere Pro software. I have found no say to this. Every time I plug in my i-link DVD tape drive, I get the absolutely annoying, pop window that asks which software I would like to use to capture from the DVD device. Unfortunately the software I want to use is not listed! I have selected no program and the use for every time check box.
I have been trying to make some family clips and found ou that windows XP brings Movie Maker. I have Windows XP Home eddition. I tried to look in the Accesories/Entertaiment/ folder for the Movie Maker, but it's not there. I went to add/remove windows components, but there is no option to add movie maker. I thought I did not have the software so I went to the xp windows microsoft downloads and look for the movie maker. I tried to down load the package that brings this software but it run and applation to check if I required the download, but it was already installed. So it looks like that it's already installed, but I don't know how to acces it.
Done 3 photo videos in Movie Maker. Two of them work fine. The other gets to one slide and stays there. Music continues to play. I have recopied to Media Player about 6 times.

I need to have a scheduled script running at certain time of the day to stop an application (File Maker Pro) from running; the backup the database and launch the application again. I know basics of command line scripting to re launch and do the copy of the data base. The only problem is to stop the application without damaging the database
I have Windows Movie Maker version 5.1 and it just simply does not show any options for file type in the Save Movie Wizard settings. I do get options that affect file size/resolution but no "Other" settings. Do I have the wrong version of WMM? I'd like to save my movies as .avi files
Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the source files used in your movie are still available, that saving location is still available and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again.
This error is driving me nuts.
Not matter what drive I select, no matter what files I use as a source, I STILL GET THIS ERROR.
I have 2 hard drives, one with 35 gigs free space, the other with 90 gigs of free space. I have 2 gigs of RAM. AMD 64 3700+ processor.
I have a Windows XP machine that keeps coming up with an ntdll.dll error. It happens in a couple places. Either at boot up after logon or when I'm using Internet Explorer.
