Dec 26, 2004All went normal, except I now cannot connect to the internet. I did not select the option to archive (not smart).

Nov 8, 2008I tried to install SP3 but was not allowed to do so. Said it would roll back to previous version but now not able to access internet. Tried several different ways to connect but computer just doesn't seem able to.

Jul 30, 2005I have gont ot XP fro 2000 and had my 2 Maxtor slave drives on a SI l680 ATA 133 controler card. I was unable to get XP to load with the card so I removed it and after replacing it the drives do not show up. They are in the Bios and the driver for the card is in and working corectly. I took one off and made it a secondary on the to the boot and they still are gone.

On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Then I realize that something was cutting my internet in half I would always do a speed test with cable speakeasy.net and it would always show my down over 17000kbps Up 2049kbps I have comcast Cable. but now my speed EVER go over 4000kbps my upload is always good 2000kbps but my down is horrible, whenever I search a site I always get a 6 second pause then it gos straight to it and my PC also took a little drop in speed as well and i've use every problem that I know is fine to use " spybot, adware personal, Kaspersky, microtrend online, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, CounterSpy, norton online, ccleaner, windows defender, I forgot the rest but nothing worked. Mar 7, 2006I have enabled ftp server on my windows 2000 server/ISA Server.Our internet connection is ADSL with US robotics router running. I configured the ISA Server to allow the ftp requests. I tested the connection using web browser as well as cute ftp and I have no problem in connecting by entering static IP Address from web browser and cute ftp.
The objective for ftp server is to share files with our clients. Now the problem is i can connect by entering my static ip address but not the internal domain name of my windows 2000 server which is tecnoserve.dxb. I dont want to give my clients our Static ip address to connect our ftp server.

Small master harddrive was full installed an old harddrive from another computer an 80gig axs a slave. it shows it is drive letter F and can open it I deleted all the files that were on it so it is empty. Itshows in computer managment but how do I get it so I can put folders, files and like put the antivirus on that drive, I think I did something wrong but don't no what it is. It shows in computer management as Drive F and I put it as NTSF like the master drive
Install On 2nd HDD - How To Remove Win 2000
Jun 2, 2006- HDD #1 has just a single partition with win 2000 installed set as master
- HDD #2 has 3 partitions (used for data backup) with no OS on it set as slave
what i'd like to do is put win xp pro on HDD #2, make it the master, put 2 partitions on it, remove windows from HDD #1 (don't want a dual boot)...that being said, how do i go about doing this? do i first switch the IDE cables and jumpers on the drives, reboot (with CD in CD-ROM), install win xp pro on HDD #2 and partition it (i have partition magic to do the partitions, if that matters)? how do i go about removing win 2000 from HDD #1? do i need to adjust the BIOS during this process?

2000 Install Hangs When Upgrading DLLS
Jul 30, 2005I am reinstalling my Windows 2000. It worked okay before but I started having some trouble with some of the DLLs, so I thought a fresh install might fix the bad DLLS. It goes through the whole install process, but hangs up at the upgrading IIS section every time. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I haven't changed any of the hardware since I installed 2000 last time.

Mar 9, 2008I recently got windows xp and upgraded from windows 2000. Right now there are 93 updates or so that I can download and have downloaded but can not install. I have no idea why. The newest WGA says my windows is genuine I have 3 different virus protection programs all of which say aside from cookies my computer is clean. Some minor updates work but the critical ones do not. Unable To Install 2000 Advance Server
Sep 28, 2006I have an older server, manufacturer unknown, that was running Windows 2000 server with all the latest service packs. It was being used as a Citrix server in our environment. The server was put in before my time here and I saw that somebody had changed the C: to a M:We have since taken the server off the network and plan on using it as an internal file server. For some reason, I am unable to install a clean copy of Windows 2000 or 2000 advanced server on it.I have tried to wipe the disk clean with DBAN and KILLDISK and WIPEDRIVE but all just hang on the system.I have a Windows 98 startup disk that I was able to boot from and ran an FDISK.I was also able to format the C:.When I am in DOS and switch to the C: I type in Dir and it comes up with no files found.I checked the partitions in FDISK and it shows the Primary Partition as being active and shows the correct amount of disk space. Whenever I try to install Windows 2000 Advanced Server the system goes through the process of checking the files and gets to the point to begin installation. When I try to install the operating system, the next screen comes up saying it cannot find the hard drive.This is very frustrating as I know the C: is there as I can see it from DOS and it looks to be configured properly.

Apr 28, 2007My wife uses a second computer that is connected via a hard wire. My internet connection is through Comcast cable and my wifes receives the internet connection through a router. The router is a Trendnet TW 100. My wife downloads and lets others in her movie room download from her files. Once in a 24 hour period her computer loses the internet connection and disrupt either her download or upload. She has been told it is the router but I opened it and do not see any shut down instruction in it. Does anyone have an idea why this happens every 24 hours and how to fix it,

Apr 27, 2010I have had fiber optics for about 6 months now. I had cable access before that. I have three computers set up in my home in three different locations. All three are hardwired to a linksys router. A few nights ago one of my roommates told me she lost her internet connection. I was on mine at the time playing STO and I was having no problems. I checked with my other roommate and her internet connection was fine also. So I went to the room where the connection was out and asked her if she changed anything, she said no. I restarted the computer, still the connection was out. I checked the cable where it was exposed from the wall it looked fine. Now I noticed that the desk was sitting on the cable, but it still looked fine. So I went and got my spare computer that I keep as a back-up and brought it to the room that was out. I connected it and turned it on and the spares internet connection was down also (I just had the internet running on the spare earlier that day).
So I figured it had to be the cable or router (linksys). So I took another spare cable I had and connected it to my spare computer and still got nothing. So I figured it was the router. So I took the cable from the computer I was playing STO on and connected it to the port on the router that was connected to the computer that lost the connection and my computer's internet came up just fine. I started changing cables on the router (using different ports and cables) between the two working computers and the one's not working. The one's that were working (one Win7, one WinXP) in the first place continued to work and the one's that weren't working (both running WinXP) continued not to work no matter what cables and ports I switched them in. It was late and I had to head to work early in the morning so I gave up for the evening...........

Aug 25, 2005I lost my connection to IE 2 nites ago. I could search anywhere on the web thru Google, just not thru IE dellnet. I also have a shortcut to dell solutions that connects to the web- it also wouldn't work. I downloaded Mozilla, and RIGHT after that IE was up and running again. However, my direct link to Dell is still missing The error message is the typical IE message: the page cannot be displayed cannot find server or DNS error. Does anyone have any ideas? Is Dell trying to tell me something?
