I need help. I lost the sound selection for Email Notification. When I go to Sounds and Audio Devices to check the sound for Email Notification it is gone. Not the sound but the Email Notification. The program selections are half of what they were. I have used REgCure to fix a regisrty problem and had other problems that seem to be fixed but I can't understand this one.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn a users laptop (IBM Thinkpad) the playback button under Sounds and Audio Devices - sounds - program events is greyed out. They are able to hear sounds. I can play a sound file in Media Player,but no sound otherwise. Also, in Shockwave (I know, not a Microsoft product, but I am just listing this as a troubleshooting issue), they don't hear any sound when playing a.swf file.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have lost my sound. The sounds icon in control panel say " no audio devices" AND the sound tab shows all listed devices as working porperly. I have deleted an sound object that allows it in device manager and allowed XP to load wht it will. I still have no sound. I checked for sound services in services and they are started as well.If I load Knoppix and test, my sounds work so I am assumming it is not a hardware problem.

As these are not sounds that I have loaded on to my machine, I am guessing that some other program did that for me.My question is.. Is there any program that I can run (like Event Viewer)that will display the event and the corresponding sound file (whether it's a wav or dll). Event Viewer doesn't give me this kind of detail and I am curious what is occurring when I hear these sounds.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy audio and video has been EXTREMELY slow and choppy. I ran a DirectX diagnostic and came up with the following error:

The odd thing is that I can still listen to music and watch movies and the sound works fine (I just have to go into the control panel to adjust the system volume).
I've tried reinstalling the audio drivers and it didn't work. I've also checked the "sounds and audio devices" and it lists the sound card under "sound playback" and "sound recording" however, under "voice" there is nothing listed and when I try to set it to the soundcard, it just goes blank again after I hit okay, close the window and open it again.
Everytime i am downloading a file, if i play an audio file it will sound like the sounds keeps getting stuck and making a weird electric buzz then continues and repeats... how can I fix this? what extra info do you need?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure this problem out for a while.After a little break, im back on the search for the solution.I've noticed that a lot of people have had the same or similar issue, but the solutions that i've found havn't helped me out.I had an M-audio firewire 410 audio interface, and one day i stupidly unplugged it without first turning off my computer. Ever since that happened, my sound has stopped working, all options in "sounds and audio devices" are greyed out with 'no audio device' showing up. I've uninstalled all m-audio drivers including the hidden ones. I've uninstalled all of my motherboard audio drivers and re-installed them. I've reformatted my whole computer out of desperation and then re-installed the motherboards audio drivers. Still I have the same issue. When i click on the installed audio drivers, it says they are working properly.Is this a hardware issue? do i need a new motherboard?

Now my audio does not work.I tried reinstalling drivers,but I'm not 100% sure I got the right ones.Under Sounds and Audio Deives everything is grayed out.In the device manager all the "Sound and VIdeo Game Controllers" appear to be OK....however under Other Devices all options have a yellow ? next to them. I think it has something to do with this....especially the Multimedia Audio Controller one.

Yesterday, I clicked on the volume control icon and it said it couldn't do anything because we didn't have an audio driver! It just worked the day before! Then the icon disappeared. The audio is gray in the sound control panel, so we can't do a thing. We have the Windows XP CD, but I don't want to mess with anything, especially after having it reinstalled a short while ago. I just got a new computer with an AMD Duron processor, 512 M RAM and Windows XP. Only problem is I've got no audio. I've checked BIOS and sound is enabled but Windows doesn't seem to recognize that the speakers are hooked up. When I tried to play system sounds from the Control Panel, I got an error message that said cannot play sound, your sound card may be in use. The computer was a gift that was bought used and the shop didn't have any documentation with the system. I think this might be a driver issue but I'm not sure how to find out which driver to try.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled my OS and all my software, shortly thereafter I noticed I had an issue where any sound that was coming through my headphones was being retransmitted through the mic, with further testing I found that this was not actually the case but rather any sound that would be output is being retransmitted as audio in, even if I had no speakers, headphones or mics connected. I have looked at and experimented with everything I could in every sound settings.
I have tried updated drivers, the only way for me to stop the issue from occurring is to mute the mic in the recording control, but that stops me from using the mic altogether. I need to be able to use my mic without recording anything that I am hearing as well.
First off I use windows XP with the latest service pack. I'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard Asus striker II extreme.
The volume of my flash player (I first noticed it when trying to view a video on Hulu) but other flash embedded videos won't play sound either. I thought this was a flash problem, and tried the usual fixes uninstalling reinstalling, running the update utility and removing and reinstalling the plugin. Also it likely isn't a browser issue as embedded videos didn't play on either Firefox or Opera.
After restarting my computer after a few uninstalls I noticed my startup music wasn't playing as well. I'm thinking that it might be some registry error as it seems like the music is very quiet instead of muted, and all of the volume levels in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties menu are at the correct levels, and my other media players play music and movies just fine.
I've browsed the forums and haven't seen anyone with a similar problem or a fix, so any help would be greatly apprciated.
After hardware upgrades, my custom XP Professional audio workstation will not allow me to re-install my Digigram VX-442 audio card driver or on-board audio.
Error message is: Cannot install this hardware.The data is invalid.
I have tried to play DVDs on my HP Pavillion notebook. I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I have tried using the Media Center (Play my DVD), Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. In all cases, I get the video, but no audio. When I put in an audio CD, it plays fine.
