Somehow I lost the Program Events for Start Windows, Exit Windows and a few others in the Sound Schemes for Sounds and Audio Devices. I am unable to attach sounds to these "missing" events. What is the best way to recover add them?
I need help. I lost the sound selection for Email Notification. When I go to Sounds and Audio Devices to check the sound for Email Notification it is gone. Not the sound but the Email Notification. The program selections are half of what they were. I have used REgCure to fix a regisrty problem and had other problems that seem to be fixed but I can't understand this one.
On a users laptop (IBM Thinkpad) the playback button under Sounds and Audio Devices - sounds - program events is greyed out. They are able to hear sounds. I can play a sound file in Media Player, but no sound otherwise. Also, in Shockwave (I know, not a Microsoft product, but I am just listing this as a troubleshooting issue), they don't hear any sound when playing a.swf file.
For some bizarre reason, the Sounds and Audio Devices selection in the Control Panel does not respond when I double-click on it. The icon has also changed to a generic icon that I think means Windows can't recognize it.Sound works fine on the system; I can play CD's or whatever.
I have the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002. How to I adjust the bass and treble on the sounds and audio devices? I need step by step instructions. I know how to do it on Windows XP Home Edition but for some reason I can't find the bass and treble on the sounds and audio devices feature of the Media Center Edition.
In device manager I have a Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) which is showing as working ok and the device is enable. However under Sounds & Audio Device Properties this is missing from both the Sound Playback and Sound Recording - when the drop down tab is selected nothing is shown.Any ideas how I get this back so I can select as the Default Device,
I have lost my sound. The sounds icon in control panel say " no audio devices" AND the sound tab shows all listed devices as working porperly. I have deleted an sound object that allows it in device manager and allowed XP to load wht it will. I still have no sound. I checked for sound services in services and they are started as well.If I load Knoppix and test, my sounds work so I am assumming it is not a hardware problem.
Windows XP. In the sound/program events section, there used to be alot of choices in the scroll bar. Now there are just a few. The full list is still in the rgistry. Is there an EASY way to re-populate the events section?
Recently I have been getting peculiar audio sounds at random. As these are not sounds that I have loaded on to my machine, I am guessing that some other program did that for me.My question is.. Is there any program that I can run (like Event Viewer)that will display the event and the corresponding sound file (whether it's a wav or dll). Event Viewer doesn't give me this kind of detail and I am curious what is occurring when I hear these sounds.
The odd thing is that I can still listen to music and watch movies and the sound works fine (I just have to go into the control panel to adjust the system volume).
I've tried reinstalling the audio drivers and it didn't work. I've also checked the "sounds and audio devices" and it lists the sound card under "sound playback" and "sound recording" however, under "voice" there is nothing listed and when I try to set it to the soundcard, it just goes blank again after I hit okay, close the window and open it again.
Everytime i am downloading a file, if i play an audio file it will sound like the sounds keeps getting stuck and making a weird electric buzz then continues and repeats... how can I fix this? what extra info do you need?
I've been trying to figure this problem out for a while. After a little break, im back on the search for the solution.I've noticed that a lot of people have had the same or similar issue, but the solutions that i've found havn't helped me out.I had an M-audio firewire 410 audio interface, and one day i stupidly unplugged it without first turning off my computer. Ever since that happened, my sound has stopped working, all options in "sounds and audio devices" are greyed out with 'no audio device' showing up. I've uninstalled all m-audio drivers including the hidden ones. I've uninstalled all of my motherboard audio drivers and re-installed them. I've reformatted my whole computer out of desperation and then re-installed the motherboards audio drivers. Still I have the same issue. When i click on the installed audio drivers, it says they are working properly. Is this a hardware issue? do i need a new motherboard?
I had a playlist running on WMP and all of a sudden one of the songs started being really choppy and kept stopping, etc. When I reboot my computer, it takes AT LEAST 10 minutes until I get to the desktop and can fully work on it. It spends minutes on the opening screen with the Windows XP thing running left to right I'm working on it now and it's going fine. Whenever I open a program though it takes a long time but ends up working ok. I can't do anything when I open a song or video.
I have lost my system sounds, a game's sounds, and internet sounds. Itunes, WMP, and e-mail sounds work just fine. I have updated Adobe Flashplayer and downloaded K Lite Codec Tweak Tool.
Just re-installed Windows XP on a Eee computer. Installation went well but somewhere along the way I seem to have lost some of my sounds. I have tried the default button but still only a skeleton sound scheme.
Had to reinstall XP due to some disk errors. Now my audio does not work.I tried reinstalling drivers, but I'm not 100% sure I got the right ones.Under Sounds and Audio Deives everything is grayed out.In the device manager all the "Sound and VIdeo Game Controllers" appear to be OK....however under Other Devices all options have a yellow ? next to them. I think it has something to do with this....especially the Multimedia Audio Controller one.
Windows XP and recently had to reinstall due to failures. Yesterday, I clicked on the volume control icon and it said it couldn't do anything because we didn't have an audio driver! It just worked the day before! Then the icon disappeared. The audio is gray in the sound control panel, so we can't do a thing. We have the Windows XP CD, but I don't want to mess with anything, especially after having it reinstalled a short while ago. Is there a place I can download a new driver for this system?
In my windows XP pro SP2, i disable the sounds in sounds and audio devices in control panel. but still i heard the sound when clicking on folders in windows XP.
I have been having some troubles with my Compaq Presario (Windows XP) over the past few days including extremely slow start up (about a full 7 minutes to boot up, when it used to take about 3) and a slow shut down process. I have already gone through the msconfig and unchecked everything unnecessary. Also my mouse is a bit jumpy, as in when I drag it, sometimes it stops and needs a second to catch up. (This doesn't occur enough to be a major problem though.) However, I think all of these symptoms may just be side effects, because my main issue that I need resolved is that my audio and video files skip.
In itunes, my audio files play but they skip at least about every minute or when I just begin to play them or fast forward, which is just enough to drive me crazy. The video is the worst though; some videos play as long as I just press play and not click anything else. Other videos, however, have continuous skipping no matter what and are practically unwatchable. I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes but no change. All audio and video in Windows Media player, Quicktime, streaming from internet, and even the start up sound when I turn on my computer have the same skipping problem. (I tried a DVD and that only skipped in the main menu and once when I first started playing it.)I know that was a long set up but I wanted to give as much info right of the bat. I'm not extremely tech savvy but I appreciate any help anyone can give.
Downloaded SP2 for Windows XP Home and immediately lost all video (not audio) in both Real Player and Windows Media Player. Removed each of these and reloaded "fresh" version - same problem. Then removed SP2 and presto - video returns.
some how my clip board clipboard.exe seems to "disapear" and i tryed everything to get it back but i still can't find one.isn't there a installation program that has the clipboard?

Internet explorer default pages for events such as navigation canceled, navigation failed, offline information, and blank page are stored in the registry. You can replace these pages with your own if you would like to customize Internet Explorer.
In Windows XP, the Windows Explorer application is found under "start/programs/accessories". I clicked on the application listing there and dragged it on to my desktop. There is now an icon on the desktop for it, but it has disappeared from the apps listings in "start/programs/accessories". How can I restore the program listing there?
I have configured the powermanagement of my Windows XP clients (XP Prof. SP1 and SP2). I have setup the computers to enter standby after 1 h and hibernate after 2 h. The clients successfully wake up on LAN traffic.I would like to monitor the standby, hibernate and wake up events in any kind of event log.
