I just cant turn my laptop back on. I press the start button, I get a message "Windows didnt start properly" with all the usual list of options. I have tried them all "start windows normally", press f11, start with last configuration etc.windows starts for a few seconds, then it cuts itself off and back to former screen.so i never get anywhere. I tried taking battery out, leaving laptop time to cool down.nothing.

As the boot begins, it takes you to a screen that says, :"if a previous start up attempt was inturrupted due to a power failure, then choose Start Windows Normally". We follow the directions, takes us the Window XP screen trying to boot it up and then takes us to the Gateway screen and then back to the screen where it asks the same question again.The cycles continues without any other options.

Sometimes it will go to the Windows screen that has the bar at the bottom like it is loading and then it will just restart. But here lately it has been just going to the screen that asks if you want to start in safe mode and all the other choices. But it just locks up and won't go from there. I think that my hard drive is messed up. I just ordered a new hdd. Can I just change the hdd to fix it or is it something else?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a older Imb laptop modle T23 computer and when I shut it down rather then using standby it takes several times trying to get it to come back on. I press the little round on/off button and the (z) button lights up and I hear the fan turn on and all of a sudden a series of beeps, and the screen won't turn on. The beeping is like 8 beeps, then stops but still nothing come up on the screen. Completely black! So i turn off the computer again, and turn on same thing. I continue doing this like 30+ times sometimes more sometimes less, then finally the beeps dont start and the screen is working. So needless to say its still working in the mean time, but its just such a pain if I shut it down. . For now I am just going to continue using standby but when I have updates sometimes i need to shut down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop keyboard suddenly stopped working he other day. I uninstalled the driver and rebooted and got most, but not all, keboard function back. I removed the keyboard and inspected it but there was no sign of damage or of anything having been spilt on it. Also prior to this there had been no sign of any problem. The key that is completely non functional is del but if I press t or g i get tg and if I press y or h I get yh. Also (in word) pressing [ or , or . causes the first letter is a series to be capitalised whilst - takes you to save file.

I do not have my startup disk, and also, it won't let me boot the computer in safe mode, last known configuration or anything.

I walked away from it for less than 5 mins, when I came back, it was off - no lights, no display, no noise, no nothing. and it would not turn back on. I turned it on again this morning, which it did fine, but after less than 2 minutes (if even that long), it said it was 'preparing to stand by', but never actually reached that stage, instead it just shut off again. Throughout this time it was plugged in. I left it plugged in, but then removed the battery (thinking it might be dead), but still, nothing. Now it won't even turn on - battery or not, plugged in or not.

I've tried pushing a few buttons on the keyboard, tried pushing the escape button, tried pressing even the wireless LAN button that's at the top... nothing. I am using a Windows XP laptop, and i did a virus scan and deleted all the dangerous files. I even unchecked "automatically restart" for a system failure and nothing happened.

Would anyone know why this does this? I have tried going to "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then "Wireless Networks" and actually removed my router name. I then reboot my computer, am asked for network key, enter it, and when I restart my computer the same thing happens. This is not a real "problem" but it certainly is very annoying.

I have to log-off using the task manager then re-log in, upon which Windows logs in normally and everything starts normally.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Windows XP Home Edition will not load up, I will start my computer and straight away I notice that it takes a little bit longer to detect my secondary Master device, after about 20 or so seconds it finaly loads up to a point where it will say Windows XP did not start properly. I have selected all of the SAFE mode options, it loads lots of drivers until it gets to a file called MUP.SYS and then it hangs there and does nothing more. I have also tryed to start windows normaly and with settings that last worked both of which froze at the Windows XP loading screen.
I have inserted a Windows XP CD that I loaned from a friend and I have tryed to reinstall Windows XP via setting the CD drive to load first in the BIOS. The CD seems to load files properly untill it reads "Setup is loading Wndows" and again it hangs here and does nothing more. I have tryed everything and I have now run out of idea's, I have read other forums that have said that its to do with the Hard Drive, I have replaced mine and still no change.
My HP Laptop is about 4 years old, but still works great... until a few days ago. When i start it up, the loading screen comes up and finishes. Then it goes black, and stays black. I CAN however boot in safe mode (not safe mode with networking tough), and it works fine. I am also having problems finding my CD, but have the License Code. So a No-CD Answer would be wonderful
