Whenever Internet Explorer 7 is opened, the installer opens up only a cancel button, and sits there for a couple of minutes. Then finally the browser loads, after that it will sometimes pop up during simple searches. I downloaded firefox, and it runs fine, but I'd like to fix this problem.

I recently put a new hard drive in my computer. Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a campaq notebook that runs windows xp, when I start up it does fine until I click into the user name. Once it gets to my screen the windows installer automatically pops up and tells me it is preparing to install photogallery which to the best of my knowledge I don't have. It atempts to install until a screen pops up that says omething about needing a cd to install. If you cancel out it tries it atleast 2 more times. It is really agrivating me as it takes almost ten minutes to get through all of this before I can do anything else. If someone could help I would be greatful. I already tried to unistall the program and it isn't there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer won't let me use the system restore function.It won't let me run or install programs.And if I try to a small black window pops up for a second than goes away.If I connect my computer to the internet a message pops up two minutes at the most later saying that windows has suffered a huge error or something and needs to shut down.And in the message a counter goes down from forty second than my computer restarts.That only happens if the internet is connected.

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. Both generate the same error: "Internet (or Windows) Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The details show that ole32.dll is the guilty module. So far I've had no success in locating a solution. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. I should also note that the control panel won't function either since it is basically part of Windows Explorer.

A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should
