My computer takes me straight too the blue login screen. When i try to login in it immediately logs off. I cant boot into safe mode or restore because when i reboot it takes me directly to the login screen. Can anyone help ?
So the desktop i think is infected with malware or something because every time i try to log in on any ones name (even in safe mode) it logs off. i tried looking at other forums but i couldn't understand what they were saying and TechGuy has never failed me before so any ideas?
My WinXP has gone thru a lot lately but it generally works fine.owever, after a long trip, when it was jogged around a bit, it has notbooted since. Well, it boots to the welcome screen then immediately logs off and returns to the welcome screen. It works ok in Safe mode, per se. I tried adding a new user but that just doesn't matter.
a while back and asked around and finally just did a system restore. A few days later the problem arose again and go fed up with it and did a restore install. That was just over a month ago I think (around Halloween). The problem has returned I haven't made any changes recently, except Windows Updates. Boots only in safe mode no error message. Hangs at the Windows XP Logo with the loading bar.
my computers busted again (and for the third time I call for help from my trusty laptop...it never seems to die whenever my desktop is in need...she's like a good neighbour...) Few days ago my ISP disconnected my internet because they found an IRC bot infecting their network. I ran my antivirus and (gasp) it found system32/virut virus, among a plethora of other files. I'm not sure how bad this virus is, or if indeed anything can be salvaged. I let the antivirus remove what it could, and rebooted my PC
I tried cleaning up some of the spyware that is on my computer the other day. Once I had, I restarted. The welcome screen appeared, it flashed my background and then went to a welcome screen with my name on it. I click on my name, the log in music plays, my background appears and then the log out music plays and I am right back at the welcome screen with my name on it. I have tried opening in every type of safe mode and all other available options when I hit F8. I called the maker of my computer and they said it is a spyware problem
I had a problem's in my PC because the viruses, I cleaned my PC with a lot of anti-virus and tools to fix that problem's I disable the system restore but the viruses back again.I tried to access to safe mode to clean the system but the PC restart after loading
I'm using XP professional SP2, after I login at the welcome screen, my screen shows my desktop wallpaper for less than a second and it auto logged off to the welcome screen again. Now I can't access my PC.
Last night I took the recommendation of Jeruvy and Arctik at this post and ran my virus checker (AVG) and spyware program (Spybot) in Safe Mode. You can read about the erratic behavior I was trying to correct in that post, but it's not directly related to the problem at hand.AVG found no problem, but Spybot found one malware program that it didn't find when not in Safe Mode: W32/GGDoor..I had Spybot correct it, which it said it did successfully. While I was in Safe Mode, I went ahead and cleaned up a bunch of temp files in each account's %temp% folder. I then rebooted.Since the reboot, I cannot properly log in to Windows -- not in regular mode nor in Safe Mode. When I log into any of the accounts (this is XP Home with multiple accounts), Windows logs me in, but before much of anything else happens, it says it is logging me back out.
My wife uses a home-built computer with windows xp home edition on it. On Friday last week it was working just fine. she left it running over the weekend, and on Sunday evening she went in to check her email. The screen had gone black, so since she couldn't get any response from it, she performed a manual reboot (at my suggestion)
Got a virused computer, as soon as I ran a PAV ( Mcafee Daily on NTFSDos ) to remove virii the system now gets to the welcome screen and upon clicking on a user account, it says logging in, immediately says logging off and dumps back to the welcome screen, this is with any account, including administrator, even in safe mode. I'm going to attempt to see what PAV pulled out using a linux live distro and maybe restore any missing files via recovery console,
i'm using a Dell inspiron 6400 laptop, windows XP.
-I turn my laptop on -I get to the screen where you choose a user -Whatever user i choose, it goes to log on and then immediatly logs off and goes back to the user screen.
How can i fix this? Sorry if i've missed off any info needed to help on this
I have a Home Theater PC (XP Pro with SP2) that I have been using for a few months. I recently decided to mirror the O/S drive since this machine was very valuable to me. I bought a RocketRaid 454 controller and added it to my system. I first booted up with no drives attached to the new controller (left them connected to the onboard). I did this so that XP could recognize
As soon as I connnect to the remote desktop, it immediately logs off. I have all the 'User Rights Assignments' configured, and I have RD turned on. I also have my user name in the Remote Desktop Users group.
My Computer is stuck in some rebooting cycle. I have XP home edition. Every time I log in it shows my desktop with no icons, sits then logs off. I've tried safe mode with the same result. I've tried booting with my XP cd with same result. I read somewhere that it might be a virus
Our main server has a login problem - When we login it goes through all the normal processes then immediately logs off again, this happens on the server itsself and also clients connecting to it thru remote desktop.
After running a round of Symantec antivirus, I found that t the next reboot, whenever I click a user logo to login, the user wallpaper flashes briefly, then logs off again. No error message or any other indication occurs.
i want to restore my laptop. had restore turned on until about 3 weeks ago shut it off. question:if you shut off restore does it still keep the last restore points? and is there a way to restore in safe mode (cant boot in reg mode) if restore is shut of. when i try and turn on sys restore in safe mode it say "i cant"
I went into MSCONFIG and checked the box to go into safe mode so i could run some virus scans and adware scans and stuff like that. Now when it gets to the desktop it has the window that says Loading Windows and then after like 2-3 min. it says password is incorrect and that i should retype it and becarefull of caps lock and stuff like that. The thing is don't have a password. It does this when i boot normally too but it lets me hit ok and hit Cancel without a password entered.
All of a sudden it tries logging me in automatically when I start up but the thing is i dont need to log in. So I try to go back into normal mode and Ican't. I hit F8 during startup and went to the Boot Normally option but it still does to safe mode. What do I do? How do I log on or how do I get rid of this password thing? One more thing, the window that tells me the password is wrong has an OK box but theres no mouse on the screen for me to click it and I can't use the keyboard to select it.
have a new virus in my computer that deleted one of my files in WINDOWSsystem32 folder, and now when I run my pc, I get an error saying that a file is missing from WINDOWSsystem32 , I want to run system recovery but it won't let me. I tried pressing almost all the F#, so I decided to run safe mode and do a system recovery from inside my windows xp, but my safe mode doesn't work ether. For safe mode I tried F8, and F5
i cannot seem to do a system restore any which way i try. not even in "safe mode." i cannot find any kind of information about this anywhere, not even microsoft.i was having this problem before and my system was so messed up i started over and installed a brand new hard drive reinstalled windows xp, driver and anti-virius software. i used my pc for a few hours and now the same stuff is happening again.
Computer having a boot problem. Computer turns on and the screen shows up showing XP loading then the screen just goes black not blue no error messages. I can boot it in safe mode and wanted to do a system restore but evidently system restore is turned off in safe mode so I cannot do that. I tried to boot several times in normal mode and I would get the XP is loading screen followed by a black screen with nothing on it.
Basically the original problem was a non functioning WinXP OS that led to using the system restore disc on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...dont-work.html
Now the system will only boot in safe mode. So far I've done the restore several times. Gone into msconfig, checked Hide Microsoft services and disabled the rest, unchecked load startup items and tried a Diagnostic Startup. Device Manager looks fine, but I tried disabling items without change. It looks like the Restore Disc is the right one for the system.
I have a dual boot linux/xp system.I was looking at partitions - just listing them - in linux, and now win xp won't come up in normal mode. It will come up in safe mode, however. Can you help me get my "normal mode" back? When the horizontal moving bar comes up in normal mode, it just goes on forever. I see the disk light go on for about 8 cycles of the bar. It usually runs 11 cycles before giving me the user selection screen. Now the disk light goes out after cycle 8, and the bar keeps going. I waited 32 cycles before giving up.
My computer was having a personality disorder so I decided to save all my files from the hard drive and do a system restore back to the original factory settings. I don't have the installation disks anymore and would like to avoid having to order them. When I started the process, the desktop locked up on me. The keyboard wasn't recognized and I couldn't mouse to any programs or functions. It didn't even complete it's startup sequence, and the icons on the right side by the clock never showed up.
So I restarted the computer in safe mode and saved my files. When I tried to do a system restore from safe mode, I got an error stating that system restore was disabled and couldn't be enabled in safe mode. I'd have to restart in normal mode and change the settings. Therein lies the problem: when I start in normal mode the computer locks up immediately, and I can't change the settings
I have a Dell Optiplex GX280 running Windows XP that doesn`t do anything after start page is loaded except turn off or restart. I can ONLY (won`t allow me to do it in normal mode) do a system restore in safe mode & then it works perfect. When I turnoff or restart it goes back to the same problem - freezes up after start page has loaded. I have to do system restore in safe mode only all over again.
Windows XP Home : My desktop boots only in safe mode and system restore fails. Last known good configuration doesn't work too. Normal boot falls in a restart loop. Can somebody help, please ? Problem created by malware (trojans, worms, etc).I use Avast antivirus.
I tried System Restore a week ago, but it didn't work. It ran but at the end I got the error message that it didn't complete and couldn't restore to the earlier point. It displayed the red "X." I deleted all of the restore points and set the amount of store to the maximum and set a new restore point. Still it didn't complete. I also ran Malwarebytes - it couldn't find any issues.I tried it in Safe Mode and it worked - it set the new point and renamed three files - two of them were Norton files, the third I didn't recognize. I set a new point and again it DID NOT COMPLETE - I got the same error message!
I bought a new cpu awhile ago. When I moved my old cpu to my other desk and restarted it, it would only let me start in safe mode. It was working fine prior to this. I tried system restore to many differnt days, but nothing would work. I think I probably need to reinstall windows, but before I do, I was wondering if there is anything else I can try.
