My IE and MSN messenger freezes when I open it. But if I unplug the internet connection it works. I think there is a problem with wininet.dll but I can't replace it. I upgraded to SP2 (XP) but it doesnt help. I scanned and cleaned it with Spybot. I also ran Adaware but it freezes at a point SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShareDLLs. I can't clear my temporary internet files either even if I do it manually.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor one of the users on that machine a vertical blue bar appears (there appears to be a red line in the middle of the bar) when the Internet Explorer starts, and the program does not respond to any commands. The bar is only about 1/8" thick and about 2" long. The bar can be relocated by pointing the mouse at the top end but after closing ie and restarting it returns to the middle of the page. The Yahoo page that loads appears to be current, i.e., it shows today's date and current stories. The only thing that actually responds is to end the program using task manager. This problem occurs for only one of the users on that computer.

My comp is slow with programs (especially opening) and also on the internet. Aso, my processing light is always on, no flicker, just a solid light. I usually get frustrated and shut it down. When I double click I get the hour glass but then the pointer returns back to an arrow and its as if the programme never started. I've check the apps I have open and its not listed. I've tried reinstalling the application and it makes no difference. I also have a problem where my desk top freezes so I can't click on anything but my mouse still drives the pointer. I ran a hard disk check using a utility from Seagate and it found errors with the metafiles and file structure in section one of my drive.

I then tried to install some not-so-genuine copies, but no matter what i use, its the same problem. I tried installing linux and it went fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are many files listed in this folder. I am unable to delete them. When I go to this directory in safe mode command prompt there are no files. I even used dir /A:H to included hidden files and there are none. But I can still see them in Windows XP PRO. I have Norton 360 and it did not find any viruses. Went I try to delete them windows gives no errors. Some of the files even have the same name and extension. Is there a cache or a temp file I need to delete first?

I have a Toshiba Tecra A8 ez8313 laptop and need to clear my system registry in dos screen.. I get to the point where i start PC with command prompts and hit enter but all that does is run a list og the loading drivers and then starts the PC in safe mode ...I cant get it to go to the C: comman prompt ...I am running XP and it will no longer accept my password ... I have been told a few differnt things to try during the start up such as pressing the page break key ..... or holding the windows key and R at the same time none of them pull up the command prompt.
