Occasionally, I have to add or change a registry key on several machines. In the past, I have simply manually edited each machine's registry--time consuming.How does one make a registry key that can be entered with a click?

I have a problem with my windowXP and IE7. I donot know what it is. After using the computer for a few hours, I cannot make a right click on any link in the IE7. Sometimes I cannot right click on the taskbar either. It is even worst when I cannot open any new console window i.e cannot open new window explorer, cannot open chat log. Has anyone ever got the same problem? And does anyone know how to solve it. Note that I have just reinstalled my Window a few days ago. However, after installing since the svchost runs continuously, I followed some guides on the net to unregister/register some services. Not sure, if it causes problem or not but at least it can stop svchost from running continuously.
View 2 Replies View RelatedActually my problem is hardware related, I'm looking for a software solution.My problem is my mouse is behaving badly, it does very fast double clicks when I just do one click. When I want to drag an item I must try many times, when I want to select text, I cannot do it that easily.Sometimes I open the mouse and clean it with a special liquid, it works fine for two days but then the problem is back again. I've also changed the button internally many times from older mouses, what I mean, I desold the bad button and sold a new one with tin.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI use CCleaner everyday and it removes all TMP files, which is what I want.However, it also REMOVES the settings I make with "TweakUI" to change "AUTOLOGON", to "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP", and "VIEW / THUMBNAILS" to "VIEW / DETAILS". Using Google, I have found that these changes are made to a TMP file. When I use CCleaner, it removes the TMP files that have the changes that I want.I have Googled for hours and can not find the answer. I did find mention that the changes I make are saved to "TMP" files and therefore, CCleaner is removing my changes. It mentioned that the REGISTRY could be changed to make my changes permanent, but the site did not tell me how to do it.Can anyone tell me how to modify REGISTRY to make my changes permanent? I want to keep "LOGON AUTOMATICALLY AT SYSTEM STARTUP" and to have all files shown as "DETAILS"

My dell dimension 2350 , windows xp home just keeps running slower and slower . i have defragged , deleted internet files , history ,etc. , but no help . i have not loaded any games or programs , i just handle emails and do some surfing . will running the banner reccomended registry booster II make my beast faster , and do so safely?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I'm having a bit of a nightmare trying to get my copy of XP to boot.Every thing was working fine and then I tried to make a back up image of my drive using Norton Ghost 2003. I have a 200Gb Wester Digital SATA drive and an Asus A8n-SLI mobo. I think that there might have been some problem with the nVidia IDE/SATA drivers as ghost crashed half way thorugh the image making process. Now when I try to boot I get a "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

Toshiba A105-S4134 XP SP2 MCE 2005 Intel T2400 Duo Core 2 GB RAM1. Two days ago I had a glitch - a bunch of browser windows were open and the system just sort of froze up. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings
there's two ways of achieving this. The easy way:
1. Create a .reg file and name it to whatever you think might fit. (create an empty .txt-file and rename it to whatever.reg)
2. Rightclick it and choose "edit".
3. Paste the following into it:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDriveshellDefragCommand]@="defrag.exe %1 -f -v"
4. Save and close.
5. Doubleclick it and answer yes/ok to the questions.
6. Rightclick a drive and choose 'Defrag' to defragment it......
For some reason my other computer i dont understand it alot but when it comes to a Disk Boot Failur, enter system disk and press enter i usually just shutdown computer plug out the wait around 5-10mins but for this time it has really driven me up the wall. at the moment now it hasnt worked and im asking for help here are some of the things i did... like i said before jst left it and wait... putting OS disk in and try to repair didnt work... try to reinstall didnt work it said it cant OS system something like that... changing my boot system to have HDD first and than CD-ROM than floppy (yes i do have a floppy drive).. but one thing it had told me Win XP when i first tried to repair it it said you have to quite when it count down on when to reboot it said if you have a floopy disk unplug it out and i did it and still not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks I've had a problem logging off from one user id and then on to another (not just switching users).When I log off from the first user id the normal XP login screen is displayed but when I click onto the password box for the new user the cursur doesn't appear in that box and I can't enter the password. If I select a user id that doesn't have a password then I can log on as them, the problem is only with user ids with passwords. Restarting XP then allows me to log on to any user id as normal.

I ran the wireless set up wizard from the control panel put my flash drive in the usb port, took my flash drive out of the desktop usb port hub, put it into my laptop, installed. i put the flash drive back into the USB port hub at the desk top and nothing happened - the mouse wouldn't move and no keyboard, so I hit restart.....

They just show up no matter what I do, or so use programs like Registry Mechanic, which I found only mediocre, very far from the ratings. to delete these two entries somehow from someone who is actully knows how to without using several so called registry cleaners, which only work partially.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter resolving an issue resulting from a printer installation, I was able to get my computer back to a state of normalcy, except that the CD drives were no longer found by the system.This is a Win 2K and there is a DVD-ROM and a CD-RW.So rather than do the smart thing and reinstall them via the OEM CDs, I went into the Bios and tried to tell the Bios that they were the Secondary Master and Slave drives (duh).So now, the system hangs, telling me that the primary slave auto detect wasn't finding anything. (Even though I didn't address that when I screwed with it.)I cannot even enter the BIOS setup, since the hangup occurs before the system even gets to that point.If I can get back to BIOS setup, I can at least reset to defaults, then figure out how to do the right thing, but for now, I'm STUCK.It's an MSI KT3 Ultra Mother board If more info is needed I can probably get it, but wanted to keep the initial post short.

"Windows cannot start " if windows doesnt start normally . windows will restart " a mesage similiar tothis ..and she receives the same message everytime .. ( she isnt available ATM for me to get hte exact error msg ) i have tried to get into safe mode to remove this program . but safe mode isnt available . i have tried F5 on start up . and safe mode isnt in the options ..& the same with F8 no option to enter windows in safe mode . what would anyone suggest to try next ?
On starting up my PC I am unable to get past the initial BIOS readout it gets as far as 'Mouse Initialized' and then freezes. Pressing F8 does not work nor following the displayed message 'Press F2 to enter SETUP'
