A few months back I had this idea of reducing my page size to 50% so i effectively had the capacity to have 2 pages on screen.Since then i have been unable to change this back. I managed 'temporarily to do this at one stage but invariably it continues to come up as half a page.How do i return this to its original full page display on all sites?
View 9 RepliesAre you guys having the same problem? Using IE7, when viewing a thread, if I hit the back arrow to go back to the page I was previously viewing, it doesn't move at all. It started acting weird a couple of days ago when it took sometimes two hits on the back arrow to go back. Now it doesn't go back to the previous page at all.

View 7 Replies View Relatedmy mom installed a virus the other day on accident. (Some program called Dr. Spy Shreddar, or something like that.) I deleted it, but some stuff was weird with the computer. I tried restarting the system to get the old configuration back, but the virus just installed itself again.For one of the problems they made me go into the registry and set something to the value of 0 in order to get the desktop tab back in the Display Properties box. (You know when you right click on the desktop and select properties.) That's all fine and dandy, but here's the other 1/2 of my problem: I can't access some of the features in the tab.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.

I went to Disk Cleanup up and deleted all Temp and Temp internet files, but the images are still there. I checked Properties of the images for the file names, went to Win Explorer, but only found C:Documents and Settingsuser, there was no subfolder for Local Settings and, obviously nothing after that. I did a Search in Explorer, including hidden files and folders, for the file names and the searches resulted in nothing. I am back to deleting one-by-one, but my concern is, Where did everything from Local Settings on go to. BTW, I also run Skybot, Adaware and Norton virus weekly

I'm having a major problem with XP Home Edition. When I start my computer, I get the Loading Settings screen, which automatically switches to the Saving Settings screen and then goes back to Loading Settings, Saving Settings, etc, etc, (the "Windows XP Startup" and "Windows XP Shutdown" sounds repeat themselves one right after the other). By the way, I have the XP tweak that skips the Welcome and log on screens at startup since I'm the only person that uses the computer. I've tried Debugging, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Restore To Last Working Settings and a few others, but nothing is working. I ran Spybot just before shutting down the computer the last time it worked and got the "Congratulations! Your system contains no spyware" message. When I restarted the computer, I started having this problem. I also have Norton Anti Virus 2004 and did a Live Update (manually) a few hours before this started happening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did an AVG Rootkit scan which turned up "c:windows/system32/userinit.exe" as a dodgy file. I removed it and now the machine won't login when I boot the system. With a bit more digging it seems that this file was actually the login information within the registry and as it can't find a valid user/password it just keeps asking me click the user name and login. When I click it just loops back and throws back up the window, asking me to click the user name again.How I can access the registry and reset the userinit.exe file?I've tried selecting "last good configuration" which didn't work.I also tried to download Bart PE on another machine (running Vista) to set up a boot CD, but it wasn't particularly clear how to go about it, so I tried using the XP System Recovery app on the install disks. This got me into a C: prompt.

I remembered that the Dell did not come with a Windows XP install disc in case I need to re-format. Is this normal? There is an option under Start....Accessories....System Tools to create OS backup disc. Is that what I need to make a disc or should it have came with one?

After several tries I got a copy of FASTconv, a command line program, to extract the files. It has been a long time since I used a command line and the command is complex. I have set the command follows........ fastconv /V /S:source store /D:destination store /T:temp store /I left out the /I switch so all files in the Dir source store would be extracted. Same thing happens when I put in /I switch.I named the Dir. source store, destination store and temp store. When I run it I get instructions on usage and a command prompt What am I missing?

When I try to go to the same page as the working browser I get the samel thing. It's like the second browser is not connectted to the internet.After shutting down both browsers several times and even rebooting sometimes, it will eventually work fine.
