Getting "Page Cannot Be Displayed" Page On Second Browser?
Mar 24, 2006
I'm having an issue I just can not understand. When I have two IE browsers open, I sometimes get the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error on the second brower. When I try to go to the same page as the working browser I get the samel thing. It's like the second browser is not connectted to the internet. After shutting down both browsers several times and even rebooting sometimes, it will eventually work fine.
I continuously get 'ERROR this page cannot be displayed' when I try to send a greeting card or access another web page. What is going on? I tried to fix and enabled all that I thought was necessary on settings.
i am having trouble when i try to open a new page from a link. it is not happening all the time but enough to make it annoying. it may be my security settings but i am not sure, that is why i am asking for help. it also won't let me open sponsored links from google etc.
when I connect to the internet (dial up), my home page doesn't come up, instead I get a "page cannot be displayed. If I right click on my ISP provider and click "open home page" then it will come up. I've tried various "solutions" yet still have problem. Even when the home page is up, the other is lurking behind it.
I have Windows XP media. 75% of the time I get the Page Can Not Be Displayed screen every time I change web sites or just move to another page w/in a site. I get the message 3 times and then I can usually get through to the site/page.
I am getting the message,This page can't be displayed in only part of my pages on the Internet. It is the same message you get when you are not connected. This doesn't happen on all pages but most of them and it is usually just a small section of the Web pages. Any Idea's I'm running Windows XP and Internet explorer.
Sometimes the enitre page can't be displayed, other times just a portion of the page Based on previous posts I've run Ad-Aware and SpyBot - here's my Hijack file:
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:14:29 AM, on 7/7/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)
my OS is XP home edition with the second service pack. My problem is that IE won't connect. I know i have an internet connection because i can use SBC Yahoo! Browser, and MSN Explorer. But when i open IE6 it comes up with this at the top of the page: The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. To attempt fixing network connectivity problems, click Tools, and then click "Diagnose Connection Problems..."
i've ran spybot adware and i am still getting advertisements that do not come up on certain websites ie: this page cannot be displayed or a blank spot with an "x" through it, and there should be some sort of picture in that spot.
Need a bit of help with a problem with internet explorer 6. The affect PC is windows Professional with Service Pack 2 installed. All internet protocols are correct, all settings are correct. However when trying to connect to a secure site I get the message "Page Cannot Be Displayed" The detect network settings is greyed out. Internet provider is Homecall
many websites I try to access, i.e., Amazon.com; CDNow. com; and many others, result in getting this Page Cannot Be Displayed. I have Windows XP and I.E. 6.0. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Whenever i login and try to open Internet explorer or any internet browser on Windows XP, it gives me a message saying that the page could not be displayed. However, i am clearly connected to the internet as i can access it from Linux on the same computer and i can play on Xbox Live. Also, when i try to access the internet in safe mode with networking enabled, it still says that the page could not be displayed. Is there any way i can fix this without reinstalling windows because my computer did not include an XP disc when i bought it.
I'm using Windows XP Media Edition with SP2. Also use IE 6.Starting about 3-4 weeks ago, I must click twice on most links to get the link to work. This had happened just for Yahoo games, but now it's for most links. My home page is www.yahoo.com and it often is not displayed when I start my PC or use the Home icon. I get the message "The page cannot be displayed." The only thing I remember changing about a month ago was an Internet option to display graphics instead of getting the boxes with the red X's. Also, now any advertising on a web page always says "The page cannot be displayed." and nothing else is shown, except for a long error explanation.
I have been getting many errors saying that this page cannot be displayed. I did do a Google search, a search of this forum, and I read the lengthy Microsoft article, which is way over my head. I am getting the impression that there can be many reasons for this happening. I do get a message that says Javascript DoNet Detect. I did do a Windows update right before this started happening.
my friend runs windows XP and is on a cable modem. Her internet connection is connected and she is able to connect and chat using AIM but is not able to surf the web. Page cannot be displayed is all she gets when she tries to go to any website
I have a 1 year old Dell Dimension 5100 with Internet explorer 6.0. I use Norton security and Ad-Aware SE Personal, both of which I think are up to date. The problem occured about 2 weeks ago when i found that that my Mum's company mailroom website suddenly stopped being accesable. When I try to access it a ''this page cannot be displayed'' page comes up briefly and then is replaced by ''Dell search'' page. I have scanned my computer several times for any viruses and I have removed tempory files, cookies, history, data miners and everything else that my scans found. I have also de-fragged my computer. I have visited the windows support website but it didnt work
I'm getting Page Cannot Be Displayed EVERY single time I open a web page. Whether it's a link or typed in the address bar. I have to refresh the page several times before the page comes up, if it even does at all. Usually, but not always, when the page does open no images appear, just placeholders. I've put in my windows disc and run sfc /scannow and re-registered a bunch of dll files and it seemed to work. for about 5 minutes. Then it went right back to doing it again. OE is also having a problem connecting to the internet. Sometimes it does and most times it doesn't.
I'm working on a computer that is blocking internet access to IE and firefox. Looks to me like the owner attempted to clear things up but left some remnants of a hijacker I can't find. When I open IE I notice the info bar redirecting me to C:windows escan't make out the full path then I get the page cannot be displayed message.
To be very clear, I can send and recieve email, I can ping and get a response, and I can also get online and able to browse in safe mode. So the connection is not completely down. Only when I am logged into a user account does this happen. Here is a HJT log. I restored a backup so one of you may get a better feeling as to what is going on. I am aware of the trojan infection of services32.exe as well as a couple other hijackers. However, when I remove all the baddies I see there is still no internet..........
i recieve this error message everytime i try to do a search from my address bar in internet explorer. i can type the direct address and i can go directly to a site, but searching is dead. i have enclosed the message below. might you be able to guide me? The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed.
Open the home page, and then look for links to the information you want. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. If you still cannot open the page, click the Internet Explorer Search button to look for similar sites.
The problem is only w/ a few websites. I can't get into my paypal account or amazon from my computer. I checked my paypal accoutn at the library and i could access it just fine and even called and they said nothing is wrong w/ my account. I can't even bring the page up on my computer. I type in www.paypal.com and this is what I get Same w/ amazon.com and also ebay. these seem to be the only sites that are not allowing me in. I have checked and they are no blocked and I have cookies enabled. I also uninstalled my virus software to see if that was blocking the sites and it was not.
On some pages I get a "Page Cannot be Displayed" error that usually covers up ads on the page, and its rather annoying. Also, on most webisites, I now need to press the back button 3 times in order for it to go back just one page. Im not sure what is causing this but it really isnt fun.And I cant seem to find where I can redownload ther complete version of IE 6.0 SP2, and I know Microsoft.com, but I cant find it under downloads.
My computer is working fine other than the browser (IE6). It takes about 2 minutes to open a page. Once opened it works fine. My home page is google, I can see the page right away but it's frozen. It stays that way for about 2 minutes then it works fine. No other problems arise until it tries to open a new page. Then the same thing happens again. I emptied all the offline and temp Internet files. Also emptied cookies and history. Ran spybot and adaware but it had no effect.
I just started using Firefox last week and when I try to get to this group I get the following:"Warning: This page requires the use of scripts, which your browser does not currently allow."Out of close to 100 sites, this is the first occurrence of this error message.
I'm trying to help a neighbor with his PC. Last night he started having a problem (just all of a sudden out-of-the-blue) with no apparent reason or self-inflicted cause. He said he had not done anything unusual on his PC, and had only replied to a few emails over the last couple of days from family members (which did not have any attachments). He is using IE7. Here is what happens: When he opens a browser page (his home page is the Charter Communication News home page for customers), as soon as it finishes downloading (within 2 seconds) the browser page just disappears...as if it was exited. All other aspects of his PC works fine.
Here is what I did: I ran his three virus protections (AVG, McAfee & Nortons) as well as Ad-Adware, which only found low risk items that were deleted. I cleaned up his files, cookies, etc. and defragmented his hard drive. After re-starting the PC the browser page stayed up a little longer (maybe 4-5 seconds)...probably because I had deleted the cookies and it just took longer to fully download......
When I try to send a multi-page fax from WORD or Power-Point, only the first page or slide appears in the FAX. This is a recently developed problem. I've successfully sent multi-page FAXes in the past.
I often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut. It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank. In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location, etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.
I was listening to some Good Charlotte, and in my D: and all the sudden I get a blue screen sayin page fault none page area... I also got this problem when I tried to reinstall Media Player 9. It sounds like some system file is triggering tihs
