In the process of trying to roll back the (ati drivers) the dialog box ask for the path to where the driver is located or a disk. The path is; C:WindowsLast GoodSystem 32Drivers. But the dialog box will not recognize this path and of the disk. What disk is needed ? need a bit of guidance . OS XP Home SP2 (ATI Display Drivers)

View 10 Replies View Relatedwhen I right click the desktop and choose properties, the "Display Properties" dialog box appears but it doesn't have any tabs. The only thing showing is "Themes". No "Desktop" tab, no "Appearance" tab. No Tabs at all. I havn't installed any new video card drivers or any new software. Also, I noticed that if I switch themes (XP to Classic) the tabs reappear. But when I close the box and reopen it, there gone. It almost looks like the "Display Properties" box has been resized. I say that because when the tabs are there,(after a theme switch), and I click on the "Appearance" tab, the "Effects" and "Advanced" buttons at the bottom look a little "cramped". Actually the bottom of the "Advanced" button is missing(hidden). But when the tabs at the top are missing the two buttons look normal. Is there a way I can resize the "Display Properties" box?

my mom installed a virus the other day on accident. (Some program called Dr. Spy Shreddar, or something like that.) I deleted it, but some stuff was weird with the computer. I tried restarting the system to get the old configuration back, but the virus just installed itself again.For one of the problems they made me go into the registry and set something to the value of 0 in order to get the desktop tab back in the Display Properties box. (You know when you right click on the desktop and select properties.) That's all fine and dandy, but here's the other 1/2 of my problem: I can't access some of the features in the tab.

They are configured for a vertical span configuration in the NVIDIA drivers (updated to the latest version of the driver)When I turn off the second monitor which I do sometimes to save power, either windows or the nvidia drivers auto-detects that the second monitor was powered off and changes my video configuration to a single monitor configuration, resizing my desktop back to fit on only one monitor. When I turn my second monitor back on, I need to manually re-configure the video settings every time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this program downloaded but never installed for quite a long time already....I asked a friend of mine the other day to use the program to back up her computer drivers using it so we could determine how exactly it works, and if the results were what I hoped for, she could then burn the folder to a cd. The reason I had her do this was because she had put in a new harddrive that I had already installed windows to for her on my system, which meant that it was configured for my own hardware and not hers by the time she got the drive in the mail from me, and once installed, no amount of playing with the drivers including new downloads would work. So I had her hook up her still available old drive, run this program and burn the files to a cd so once the new drive was hooked back up again, those drivers could be used since they worked fine on the old drive.
I was massively impressed with the outcome and saw the real potential for having all working drivers available for any new installations for anybody in that kind of situation of having to format the drive and starting over....
I would like my windows taskbar to revert to a horizontal display. I turned my back on my little brother for like two seconds and when I looked at my screen again my Windows XP taskbar was set to a vertical display. Please tell me what I need to press or where I need to go to revert back to a horizontal display.

When PC boots up, it gets as far as the Windows XP startup screen with the line top and bottom and thats it! no login names are displayed or anything. Mouse moves and KB is not locked. ctrl-alt-del does not display the login page either. I tried in safe mode with same results.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBoth cd-roms: LG cd-rom & Liteon cdrw have stopped reading disks. Both are plug/play, using xp drivers. They are recognized by explorer,no issues according to the device driver. Both spin up, but won't read disk. In win explorer, selecting the LG cd-rom produces a red X: E: is not accessible,incorrect function The Lite-on did the same thing, until I downloaded/installed the firmware from the mfg. Not it acts like it is at least looking at the disk, but it doesn't see anything. Is there anyway to re-install the xp drivers (remember I can't read a CD)? All programs and documents are in place but when you hit start button the display is empty, also both these accounts will not connect to the internet. This has only been happening last 2 days. Under internet options 'never dial a connection' is ticked when I change this and hit apply it goes back to 'never dial a connection'and wont be changed
