Oct 14, 2006This update won't install and I had trouble once before...a long time ago... installing this update. I went to Google for a fix and on some forum a tech told me to un-install the ver. 2.0 that I have on there now...reboot...and then d/l the new update. I didn't bookmark the forum unfortuneately. Now, my system won't even allow me to un-install the old ver. 2.0 so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Does anyone know how to fix this

It fails to install every time and comes back again and again to install. I did a very quick search on this problem and it seems there are problems concerning how Framework was loaded and what versions youo have.First of all, as far as I know, I have only loaded a new Framework version because a program I downloaded informed me I need this new version. I do not keep track of how I loaded Framework, what versions or anything. Looking as some of these proposed solutions require knowing a lot more about how you loaded them and what versions you have.

And if the DAW software requires a process to run for use, will it "launch" that process upon starting the program?I have 45 processes running right now when I boot normally. I'm thinking of partitioning C: drive to be able to boot into "audio" mode where all but the most essential processes are stopped and therefore all resources are dedicated to DAW software. Nov 1, 2007I Installed the Microsoft .NET Framework because it was listed as a high priority update and it appears that Windows Cardspace was installed with it. Windows Cardspace shows up in control panel as a vertical file such as are in Windows Vista. Also cardspace freezes the computer and keeps it from restarting. Should I uninstall the .NET framework 3.0?The freezing and restarting problems only happens when I'm trying to use cardspace(actually cardspace never loads.)
Another thought-I've seen links to windows xp help forums off the microsoft website but now I can't find them. Does anyone else know where they are?

Finally able to boot into safe mode and found no HD errors. Thought registry corrupted, so tried to redo with a reload on top of the XP Pro but the program said it is older than that on computer (probably SP2) and won't let me reload.

On Friday, I had a crash and had to reformat HD and reinstall Windows, then sent Auto Update to get everything needed. According to Update History, SP1 downloaded and installed with no problems. However when I look in Add/Remove Programs I only see .NET 1.1 and a Hotfix for it. Should I see something that says SP1 if it's really on my system?
